It's time to call the City of Franklin City Commission to order. This is a special call meeting, and we will only be able, we'll have to stick to the agenda with the only items that are on here. So at this time, I will ask Commissioner Stewart to open us up with a word of prayer. Thank you, Mayor.
Pray with me, please. Dear Heavenly Father, once again, I thank you for this opportunity to see another day. We thank you for this opportunity to be able to assemble in this appointed place and to oversee the business of this community. First Father, we'd just like to thank you for all the many blessings that you've bestowed upon us. We thank you for allowing us to rise and see another day. And we just thank you for all that you've done, that you are doing, and that you will do. We ask you to come to this meeting today, Father, that as we conduct this business, that whatever we do and say, that most important, that it will be pleasing to you. Father, we ask you to bless those that are sick, shut in. We ask you to bless those that's in a nursing home. We ask you to bless those that may be on foreign soil today, Father, and say, do the duties that they are obligated to do. Father, as we come up on the 250th celebration, Father, we ask you to bless this occasion. As we do our annual celebration on the 4th of July, we ask that you will protect us and watch over us and make sure that we do things that are not harmful to ourselves or to anyone else. Father, once again, we just ask you to come to this meeting and bless us from the homes which we come from and all that we may do. In your name we pray, amen.
Thank you, Commissioner Stewart. Thank you, Mayor. We will move on to general government, and that will be discussion and a possible action regarding proposed ordinance approving solid waste agreement and interlocal agreement, and I believe Amanda will speak to that before we take action on...
Yes, thank you, Mayor. This has been a couple of months in the progress. I know that both the city and county have been working diligently on it, and so now we have it here in final form for your all's consideration and approval. This will be a new agreement, but continuing with Scott Waste, for them to provide our solid waste services. And then because we're doing this in conjunction with the county, we also have an interlocal agreement We are doing this by special call, so when you look at the ordinance itself that is proposed, you will see those emergency provisions that are in there. And those have been included so that we can just do this with first reading. And the reason for that is that this contract is going into effect on July 1. so we want to make sure that we continue providing services um so with that said what we are in need of today is two sponsors uh for the ordinance which would include that new interlocal agreement and then authorizing the mayor to sign those documents i'll pay one thank you commissioner powell commissioner stewart
Okay, so we have our sponsors.
We're good.
Okay, thank you, Amanda. From here, we'll move on to ordinance, and Kathy, would you?
Thank you, Mayor. We'll have emergency first reading of ordinance number 2026013. an ordinance approving and relating to an exclusive franchisee for the collection, hauling and disposal of municipal solid waste and the collection, transport, resale or reuse of recyclable materials and operation of a convenience center in Simpson County, Kentucky, and the city of Franklin, Kentucky. And I will need a first and second motion for approval.
I got motion. I have a motion by Commissioner Powell. I second, Mayor. Second by Commissioner Stewart, and we'll have a roll call vote.
Commissioner Powell?

Commissioner Bush?
Yes.
I'm sorry, I didn't hear you.

Thank you. Mayor Dixon?

Commissioner McCrary? Yes. Commissioner Stewart?

And that... Ordinance passes unanimously. This concludes emergency first reading of this ordinance. Ordinances become effective upon passage and publication and will be posted on the city's website. A full copy of the ordinance is available upon request by contacting the city clerk at City Hall during normal business hours.
Thank you very much, Kathy. And that concludes our business, and I will ask for a motion to adjourn. So moved. Second. I have a motion by Commissioner Powell to adjourn. Commissioner Bush, second. All in favor, aye. Aye. And we now stand adjourned.
