What's on there?
What'd she say?
I'm comfortable at how close I am to this.
Today is March 8. It is 06:35, and I am calling the tree advisory board meeting to order. We don't have anyone from the public, so no public comments. Oh, sorry. Do I have did everyone see the agenda and the minutes that I sent out last week?
Yes.
Do I have a motion to approve the agenda?
I motion to approve the agenda.
I second.
All in favor?
I.
Wonderful. Do I have a motion to approve March's minutes? Motion to approve.
Second.
Perfect. All in favor?
I hope that's both.
Thank you. And, again, no public comments, so, we'll hop right into general business. So most of today, we spent talking about a big event of the year, which is just two and a half weeks away. I just have two comments to make, and then I'll sort of turn it over to Amy and Claudia who have been running it on our behalf. Thank you so much for that. First question is is Sab gonna focus or have, like, literature on a fruit tree rescue, or is that something that we will have as well? And then more of, like, a question. I know Karen's heading that, so my assumption is that she would have something about fruit tree recipe.
Yeah.
She's got it.
Okay. Perfect.
The other thing I wanna mention is, I it's hard for me not to feel like one of the main questions, which just might be, like, 50% of the questions we get is about water restrictions and what's going on. I know Erie lifted them, but, you know, Denver, Aurora announced, what, on Monday, water restrictions level one already. I I keep hearing that, you know, Fort Collins and Larimer County is going to announce some stuff if they haven't already very soon. So, I think this is gonna be the hot topic on everyone's mind. And, you know, I appreciate those, the edits you made on that, that little note I sent.
So, yes, I think the big takeaway for us and the tree board, in my opinion, and I'm curious to hear everyone else's opinion, is just when people start talking water restrictions, that doesn't mean no watering. It just means more intelligent intelligent watering, and at that point, trees become more important. We know that they are a longer game. We know that they're much more valuable than lawns. So if you have to pick and choose between things, I think the push and the message that we we give to folks is focus on your trees, especially your your young and new trees. Anything planted in the last three to five years would suffer worse than, you know, say, giant mature Austrian pines, like, right out that window. Do you have anything to add on that?
No. Oh, well, yes. See, last so mid last week, I shot some content with our communications department specifically on that. Yeah. Yeah. They not released it yet. I haven't seen even a draft of it yet. But, basically, saying just that that, like, in well, at the time during, like, where we were currently that we're weren't we didn't want people to water turf, wanted people keep irrigation off. Thanks for doing that, but that you are allowed to keep hand water in your trees. The right way to do that, we kinda showed the five gallon bucket trick.
Mhmm. Talked about young trees versus mature trees. Some good sound bites about not letting it blow and hit the street in the curving gutter. And if you're doing that, you're doing it wrong. And then as far as game planning, much about what tell folks, I think that generally, I fully agree with you. I don't know where we'll be in, like, where are we at in three week. I just literally got back from vacation two hours ago.
But Two and a half weeks ago.
Yeah. So I I think we wanna see where we're at then Okay. As far as what what the town is telling folks. Absolutely. Mhmm. I'm I think I'm even a little bit behind the times. Are we doing days here already. Voluntary. Voluntary. Voluntary. Yeah. Two days a week. And we wanna encourage people to follow all the voluntary stuff, essentially. But I gotta get caught up on what they would like us to do right now. But, yeah, I think hand watering remains appropriate. And, you know, first one to two year newly planted trees are gonna be the most important. If the grass is green underneath the tree, it probably doesn't need water. Yeah. You might like to have Unless it's No. Freshly planted.
I think setting the expectation that, like, we don't have drought restrictions right now, but everyone knows we have a spectacularly dry winter. So, we think that would be helpful because I mean, yeah, what we're seeing in other municipalities is they do have mandatory water restrictions. So setting the expectation, I think, could help later selfishly.
Mhmm. No. I I agree. And I think Denver Water is, like, famous at
the
point seer escaping. Like, they're famous around the world for their water management, so they're not more of the country. So it's hard to imagine that a lot of other folks are not following suit with them pretty soon. So I agree with that point. Anybody else have anything to add on that? And they you know, the town
make up some sort of maybe a frame sign just call pointing. Oh, good idea. We're at now. That way, it's you know, it would help answer the questions that residents might have. I think we can Instead of,
you know, Like, or a handout for our wedding? I don't
Whether a hand whether it would be a handout or whether it would just be a sandwich board, but just something that's just here's our current voluntary requests. And, you know, people, they can take a picture of it with their phone if they want.
It's it's probably fair to say that we're not gonna it's not gonna be markedly different in two and a half weeks.
It might be. I really don't. Yeah. I think it's fair to say we we can wait and see. Yeah.
Won't be better.
There's the next four days, there's chance of rain. Yeah. If it hits right, there's a chance that we actually get
Getting snow up.
Some. Not a lot, but maybe, like, a half inch through Sunday, which could change a little bit. Mhmm. I
like that idea. We can definitely have I can reach out to different people and ask them to to plan on doing that for us, something that states where we currently are so that nobody's unsure about it on that day because that Yeah. I mean, they could be left at the rec center too after these events.
Mhmm. Yeah.
Yeah. Oh, good call.
Yeah. Good.
More reusing.
I'll brief yeah. I think I think we can definitely do that. As far as leaving out the reps and I don't know that, leave that completely to Gabby Sands. Yeah. But, yeah, they may or may I don't know. They might not wanna do anything in in print just so that it doesn't become you don't have like, time stamp everything, you know, like, as of particular date. Sure. Mhmm. But
Nice lander and dry erase board.
Air conditions. Air conditions. Hourly updates.
It's like a snow it's like a, you know, snow report. Know?
I mean, well, maybe we get to a point where it's I mean, we'll we'll always have
the the fire Uh-huh.
Down the wildfire, but maybe we need the water.
Replace the what's that that big, like, board on a one on Arapahoe and, like, whatever, one eleventh with just, a big, you know, temperature gauge. Yeah.
I like it. Yeah.
So, yeah, we can
bring that up. We have a meeting tomorrow, the Arbor Day.
02:00.
So, yeah, something like that. Yeah.
I guess, like, say where it's gonna have to ebb and flow. So maybe there's you know, clearly, you need to bring it up to the the group, but maybe there's a powwow right before the event just to see where we're at as of that Saturday morning. We do. I think it gets better.
Mhmm. Good idea for everybody to have some some drought tolerant trees in mind.
Yes.
Hackberry, I consider Catalfa sort of that way. Do. Sort of that way.
The right oak. Yep. Yeah. Absolutely.
I think, Jason, it's probably fair to also it's probably fair to just have it in not, like, the knowledge of what Denver Water
is doing or or
Yeah. Or Yeah.
You know, Lafayette, any of the towns around. That's just, you know, on our back on the back burner.
Yeah.
So I think people will probably ask
Yeah.
Not just what we're doing, but what other towns are doing. And they may wanna follow suit. I don't know. My my opinion on everything has always been, like, go to the lowest common denominator. Yeah. Yeah. You know, if Denver Water has really, you know, is really strict, we I I think it's fair to shade that direction than be, like, you know, more loose, liberal with it.
No. I totally agree. I totally agree.
It'll rain on Arbor Day. That would be
St. Cheers. I'll be
happy if that snow works.
All bets are off this season. We got a fair amount of it.
Can't complain about
right now. Shove them
to the library.
I don't think this works for trees because there's not a whole ton of them. But, I mean, personally, like pushing native. If we can push native shrubs, native perennials, and things like that, my hope is that when we get to the end of this year that, you know, those have always been a hard sell in nurseries. They don't look as good. They're not as fancy. It's hard to sell an East Coaster on them. Then at the end of the year, that this is finally the year that they take hold. And by next year and for a long time after, we have more focus on natives. But when you get in the native tree world, you know, beyond ponderosa's opinions, you know, make the argument that not even cottonwoods are native. So it gets a little tricky when talking about trees.
Well, and then are ponderosa starting to become attacked by beetle. Like, I've been hearing, like, in the lower elevations that there's
It's pretty different. Hear There's something talking about beetles
It's hot on the news, but I didn't see. And I I Just My kid was talking. Everyone was trying to listen.
I didn't think
it had hopped out this far. I thought it was more like creeping in on the front range of boulder.
Yeah. You
said it was one of the pine beetles.
Ips, mountain pine beetle or trippantine maybe. But
Ips go after spruce a bit more. Pine and spruce, but yeah. I'm not as good with my bugs.
Yeah. I'm I'm out of the loop with the forest pest as of today. Forest pest.
My beetles is what I'm seeing. No. Just beetle. Mhmm.
Which in a year, like,
this year could have, like, three or four life cycles?
Mhmm. Three. Yeah. And if they're just getting weak trees, yeah, this could be a bad year for it, but this is also gonna be a rough year for spruce. It's Gonna try from the point of, you know, the word native being very vague because spruce are not a low water plant whatsoever. You start trying those water thirsty. Yeah. Like, off the charts water thirsty. Exactly. Right.
I wouldn't know that. That would be a good thing to Yeah. Talk about. Yeah. Mhmm. I have two of them in my backyard.
You get into the weeds really fast, especially, you know, that that word native can be very vague in a lot of ways because, yeah, it's our state tree. Right? But you throw it in a non irrigated situation, it's dead within three years. Mhmm. Especially with, like, winter like we just had. But if you put it into a long situation, they can thrive and look amazing. So and they are so beautiful. Okay. That's all I had on the water, so I will turn the floor over to Amy. Claudia, please let us know where you're at and how more importantly, how we can all help.
And looks like we have 41 vendors. Do you have have you looked at the updated list by chance, Leah?
I have not looked at it. Karen asked me to to create the layout, and so I'm gonna work on that probably the end of the day tomorrow Okay. And get that to
her Okay.
So that she can get it out Friday. Sounds good.
So we have 41 plus the five food vendors. We ended up with three for food, one for desserts, and finally, a coffee vendor. So so that's taken care of. What else do we
have going? Let's see here. She's going over her notes from last meeting. We did discuss, like, the raffle. We were trying to think of, like, how many round how many per round, how many, you know, from previous years, like, how many round the raffle I I don't even I don't even know what last year's was like. Is it, like, you know, how many gifts, how many prizes are we giving out, and how many, you know, are you doing in
each? So
it's been typically two drawings times again, Jason. It was 11:30. And I think
Well, so I'm usually eleven and 12:30. The second one was definitely at 12:30.
Okay.
I can't remember if the first one was eleven or 11:30.
Eleven. I can look. Okay.
Okay. Eleven.
And then it it just depends on are we bundling them to make them larger Yeah.
Packages. Yeah. Come to that. Yeah.
And then how many of those packages do you have?
I think we talked about doing six and six.
Okay. Right.
Yes. Six from Sab and six from us. Yeah. Plus and then we're gonna add two or four kids' raffles.
Oh, good.
Asked Tom to purchase four sweets gift cards for them. Right. Mhmm.
And will that be, like, separate tickets, obviously? Or
Yes. And we did I think Brian found different little tickets that are So did you did you buy that for us by chance?
Before gift cards?
No. No. The gift cards and the tickets, I guess. So we'll need, the gift cards and tickets.
Raffle tickets to hand out to And
four sweets gift cards. Yes.
Yeah. That's a really fun idea.
25 the peach. Right?
Yes.
And I think six is a great number because I think if you go more than that, it just sort of draws out. It feels we've done that,
I think, pretty much.
Well as discussed. Yeah.
It takes a long time. You make a lot T shirts. Let's forget that. Just
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We grow, and this
is serious
serious one. Yeah.
And then we talked about letting the raffle winners choose their prize instead of, here's your tree, but you don't really want a tree. Yeah. Something like that.
Yeah. We've always done that.
Okay. We
just have that
posted. That's right.
I don't know if I'm gonna get started.
Yeah. Yeah. And then just have them,
like, number them so they can
get in line. So it's not
like person 4. Oh. Cheez.
That would have been their name. Right? Put their name on the on the card?
Yeah. Yeah. Just have them pre numbered, like, one through 10 or whatever it is.
So one through $650 since the kids are just gift cards there.
Yeah. Here's your same gift card.
And anyone who wants to leave their prize and come back for it, we need to make sure we get their full contact information and then attach it somehow and take a picture of it because we lost one last year. Yeah. So
So will you will you be at the like, some There will be manage that. That would be great to, like, have some you know, I'm just going into it blind so I don't I'm happy to help you out with that route.
Yes. I can I can I can help too?
Last year, I ended up throwing some trees and making some deliveries at the end of the
Yeah.
And we have that in there.
Like, maybe not advertised delivery. Right. No. But No.
Do guys care if I
wants to do it? Yeah. Yeah.
In a pinch.
In a pinch.
As we're saying it publicly. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly.
And someone holds us to it and says you said it in your last meeting, I'll have to be like, alright. Touche. You just didn't try it.
You don't fire it up. And deliver.
We just wanted to see if they're paying attention.
That's all. Right. I remember right from the last one, tab or Sab was was stopping with buying anymore. And so they had the two oak rain barrels, which are, like, 500 or excuse me, $429 apiece. And that's that's about if I remember correctly, that's about the they've got, like, a few countertop count combo spins, a few wooden laundry racks, and a smart thermostat.
But that's all they got, and they're pretty uptight about their budget right now, and that's all they're gonna supply. So the rest of the prizes are are on us. Sure. And if I remember correctly, we'd I think it's a little bit open to change
still, but I
think we're going at, like, 12 items total. Yeah.
For two rounds of six.
And so they basically got two covered, and that leaves us to cover 10. K. I can add four trees. Wonderful. And so that leaves, what, six that we need to take care of? Mhmm. So let me know what you'd like me to get. I can make sure that that is purchased before every day.
I think we kinda decided you'd kinda roll with what you did last year in those Get baskets. Some new tools. And
How about, like, two that are so it's kinda nice if we have, each raffle is almost the same. So if we have six prizes with replicates of two, kind of, an oak rain barrel on the first one, an oak rain barrel on the second one, two trees in the first one, two trees in the second one. Oh,
sure. Yeah.
And then what if we do, like, a pruning prize, a watering prize? So, like, a hose timer, a hose, and a probe. And then the third one
Seedlings. We did that last year.
It's really hard to get $3,400 worth of seedling stuff.
Okay.
But I'm I'm into it. K. But, like, where where would I spend a few $100 on seed starting stuff? K.
I just learned about have you heard of Massa Seeds over at, like, 75th And Arapahoe?
Yes.
Yes. I they they they're selling their site maybe too late this year, but we should try to get them maybe at the event next year. It's local. They've been doing it for, like, fifteen years over there. So it's a lot of, like, college or bread stuff, and they're starting to sell at garden centers. And their prices are phenomenal. It's, like, $4 for your average pack of seeds. That's a local company.
They're great seeds. And we invited them last year. They couldn't make it. They're kinda they rely a lot on volunteers, and that's why they couldn't they didn't have someone to man a booth at an event. I'm actually gonna volunteer with them. Because Tom hasn't got back to me with volunteer assignments in Erie. So
Please let me know how that goes.
Yeah. Volunteer and then also
the other Did you ask me about that, or
did you
fill out a volunteer
application online?
I I did.
I don't No.
I didn't fill out an application, but I thought I'd talk to you about it. So We
may have. There's a volunteer application on Park's website. Okay. And then after you filled that out and put your interest in and things like that, then they shuffle them down to me from there. Okay. What
if you doubled up, like, two pruning prizes, two watering prizes?
I like that idea.
Keep it simple.
Yeah. Instead of trying to
Do the did we buy because I have in my notes from back at the end of the year. Did we buy gift cards to the tree farm? I know we bought the ones for them.
Yeah. But it's a tree
that I like supporting local
garden center of some sort or a tree farm.
My notes, we got $550 gift cards. So is it possible just to do two and two?
And then we got $1 Make them the bigger.
$200. To $100. Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, you you guys let me know. The the Saab's prizes are, like, 5 you know, $450. The rain barrel's $4.30, and then they're gonna tack this other stuff into it. So do we want our prices to be $100, $200?
I think in that, like, 1 to $200 range, like, pretty amazing. But, like, buy one $100 gift card to inertia.
That'd be fine.
That's y'all's budget, so you guys let me know. K. We'll do it.
I'm just
gonna say
$2.02 each because it's I mean, you can't buy a treat for a 100. No. I would say I would say 200 is a a good start for someone
to
get a treat. And we also want to match the distribution of the
Of two guys.
Of staff. Yeah.
And we got increased
work on this year.
We have the budget for it, and we want people to plant trees. So
$200 ones?
Yes, ma'am.
Okay. Did you hear that, Tom?
And then these are the pruning and watering prices are around $200 each.
We can do that. So So So two $200 gift cards for
So that's $1,200?
$3.05.
In gifts? Does that sound good? Oh, well, 1,200 plus the sweets, which is just another 100.
What else did we get at the end of last year?
We got a lot of it was focused on, like, free,
which is,
like, stickers, like, the necklace stuff, coloring books. We got those 20 Arbor Day Foundation t shirts, but I think we talked about just giving those away. And then the other two big ones I have here are the we got the $550 gift cards to young explorers, but that's for the poster contest winners. And then the $550 gift cards to the tree farm. So were those purchased in the fall or in the spring farm?
No. I don't remember.
Young Explorers. Yes. Okay. Okay. $550 gift cards there. Tree the shirts. Yes.
Right on. Alright. I just
wanna I wanted to make sure we didn't double up because I couldn't I couldn't remember if he got those tree farm gift cards. No.
The tree farm, that's that's what was. Tree farm's closed then. You're right. So, like, we had, like, a week before the budget closed, and I told Terry to go to the tree farm and Kelly to go to Young Explorers. And Terry was like, tree farm's closed this week. It's, like, the end of the year because, like, Austin's open.
The Young Explorers, like, open extra hours because it's, like, right before Christmas.
Oh, they're gonna shop there. So for clarity, we wanna spend y'all wanna spend $1,400 on on prizes. So six is that a good math?
I think it's 1,300. Sometimes it's 400 plus
You want six prizes that cost $200.
Yeah. So two two pruning, two watering. So it's 400 here, 400 here, 400 here, plus a 100 for sweets.
And the sweets were bought last year, so those already exist.
So sweet.
So We have them? Yes.
They're sitting on my desk. We bought them at the end of last year.
Okay.
So that I'm a young explorer.
Oh, wait. Wait. Wait. No. No. No. No. You're a 100 I'm sorry. Young We had some sort of confusing.
Sweetest gift card.
So it's 13. So 13 is what?
1,300 is what we're looking at. So so if we can, like, have you please purchase these.
Yes.
And then I have to email you a link for the tickets that we want to order because they're ordering a different kind of ticket for the kids raffle.
Sounds good.
Do you would you guys like me to MC again?
Yes. We have you down, like, in our thing.
We need we need a male a deeper male voice.
Voice for videos.
Good god.
And I have to say as one of the flyer distributors, we
are killing it. Like, if
you go to Lazy Dog Yeah.
The flyer's right there on their podium at the host.
Oh, yeah. I it at the dentist office today.
At the dentist office?
Thank you very much.
Awesome. Suites, unfortunately, they're like, I'll plug man, just put stuff all over on the top of it. But
That's amazing.
All just need to take turns every day going to suites, Make sure that's inspiring.
Maybe you
have to
buy some ice
cream. Know. Tea.
Can we consider a DJ for next year?
I think it's a good idea. Because they can bring their own, like, PA systems. I'm like, because
last year, I didn't hear what
the parents were saying.
That was some feedback. Yeah. It was the sound system wasn't great. Is it the same sound system this year?
I don't think so. It's not the
This year, it's coming from I think it might be the exact same, the upgrade. This one's coming from communications department. I think last year, we used the one from communications. The upgrade is that they purchased some extra cords and things so that you can hook that PA system to an iPhone, and you could play music if you want
Okay.
For
for this ear. But Still can't hear anything.
You just won't hear the music. One that closes booths to you,
and I didn't hear one person. It's the worst thing I've ever heard.
So we'll we'll talk about
it early in the year next year. Yep. And DJ would have their own,
like, speakers and stuff like that.
So
And we'll talk to SAP at our meeting after. The event. Mhmm. It might make sense. Recap meetings.
And then I know another feedback was making sure that I shout out the food trucks more than this time
Yes.
Especially early on.
Since they're a little bit off
the beginning. We just wanna have, like, a a time.
Like Yeah. I should have really, like
Just like a like a, yeah, like a time little bit of timer on the phone that's,
like Mhmm.
Every 30 whatever minutes. Just, hey. Shout out the food trucks.
For sure.
Like, update on raffle timing.
Would they be interested in something like, hey. At 11:15, food truck food trucks are doing 10% off or something like that. So you send people up there. I don't know. Just
Yep. Extra
incentive. They're getting some foot traffic. Yeah.
I think the coffee truck is especially with, like, the early soccer games, it'd
be like Oh
my gosh.
Gonna be knocking on their window before 10:00.
That will that will probably drive people up there too. The a little bit of diversity of the food truck mix is
Yeah.
Probably more An ice cream too or a dessert.
At least get some more foot track traffic up there than just people who are like, oh, sure. Didn't even know I had a lunch option.
Mhmm.
Well, I could really be ambitious.
Put a couple sandwich boards out by the soccer or Yeah. Doctor names and food trucks.
I think Will's there for
a spinner, Brave.
I could do that.
That's, like, a good idea.
Big error.
Do want them to come back. Like, we do want work stays
really good.
Participate, so we should help try to help them get some sales.
So we always put sandwich boards down by the soccer fields that have the itinerary of the event. Mhmm. And just
advertising truck all that stuff.
So, like, one side of the itinerary of the event, the other one is food truck side.
Oh, good.
I think we always bring, what, five or six to the event.
Okay.
There's some that say the parking lot's closed and say where you can park. There's some that go down by the Garfield Shelter, which is where everybody parks and walks across the soccer fields, and that shows the Arbor Day itinerary and what's going on. Usually on that, there'll be the list of prizes we we've put down there before to get people to come down for the raffle. There's always a sandwich board up in the middle of the event that has the raffle times and all the different prizes on it. We have a list of that, and we'll probably talk about this quite a bit tomorrow in the frame of the the whole tab in here.
It's just communications requests. The communication staff and I kinda have a handful of deadlines this month where, right now, we're working the the newsletter and things like that so it can go out on the fifteenth. But then, Ashley saves time in her schedule later in the month for printing up all this sort of day of stuff, but we've learned to wait until just a few days before the event because there's there'll be changes. We'll find out. But Yeah. A politician's coming and find out who's on. You know? Yeah. It's just And that sort of thing. So day of marketing sort of stuff just to give everybody a flavor of the sort of stuff that we plan and we talk about, but we make sure we have.
We've already done all the window flyers done early March. Social media posts all planned out already. ECC Marquee, already active and happening. ECC lobby TVs, already active and happening. Email the tab listserv that will go out with your newsletter.
SAB, the tab listserv that goes out with their newsletter this month. Some years, we email all the HOA contacts that's on this list. So Ashley and I will talk about that unless the town has already blasted them recently on something, which hopefully they haven't, but they know about this event, but we'll see. And then the day of the marketing, the third week in April, Ashley and I sit down to go over all the day of marketing needs. That's sandwich boards for the parking lot, sandwich boards one that's all the prizes, sandwich board that's the pop the poster contest winners winners. So So if you can get me that, we always put the
Yep. I've got all five pictures on my
A sandwich board that says food trucks with an arrow pointing forward, a sandwich board that's the event flyer, a sandwich board that's the event schedule, a sandwich board about the tree giveaway, which is already actively rolling. I'll pick those trees up. Today is it sorry. I really just get back from vacation. Today is Wednesday. Right? Yep. Next week, Terry goes to pick up all the trees for the 100 free trees that we'll give away the week after Arbor Day. So that poster board will have the QR code on it, and people can sign up, for the free trees up until the end of the event. And then on Monday following the event, Ashley and I do the selection, the random selection of who gets stuff.
Then we start delivering on Tuesday of that week. Another sandwich board with, oh, the contingency one that says Arbor Day has moved to the library. But we print that and have that in
our back pocket as well. Do we have weird do we have, like, a and it it may just be that this is impossible because of the amount of changes that's been if a, like, site map of some kind, like a vendor site map, vendor, food truck, something like visual. I I you know, I'm I'm sure that most people just I mean, most people are just walking around, and they're like, oh, this is a cool, you know Mhmm. Vendor to talk to. But even a, you know, a sandwich board or a handout that has sort of, you know, vendor location, location of the food truck to try to just simply create create some.
It's a good idea. Okay. Do you wanna
I know things change until the last minute with vendors, and so, like, there's you know, there are
many vendors go where they're supposed to go. Well, we're gonna have We have control over.
We're gonna have, you know, the right Sometimes they don't
like who they're admitting
except the right numbers. I mean, we could we can easily create a map that says, like, vendor booths here, food trucks here, and keep it more generic. Mhmm. If we want to be a little bit more detailed, we can do that too. It's just there just may be, yeah, things that aren't
Might not be as accurate.
Aren't quite right the day of.
Yeah. And, like, last year, a couple like, I think, like, Plum Creek stole, like, an extra table to, like, display more plants, so I think it flexes. So Yeah. To me, the more vague ones would just make more sense. They're really detailed. Mhmm.
Or do we have do we try to keep, like, sustainability businesses over here, roofing businesses over here? Do we or is or is everybody mixed up in the past?
I last year, I tried to kind of put competitors, like, away from each other. Mhmm. Put all, like, town town boards and departments and things kind of together and align, but then I had, like, I had Home Depot and Lowe's, like, cross from each other.
And I had, like
you know, I just had
That's really strategic. And we I as far as I know, we're, like, batting a 100 on zero fist fights at this point.
Now Yeah. That we put out a survey after last year's event to all the vendors, and we kinda reviewed those surveys in one of our meetings. Right? Mhmm. In our planning meeting. And that was there was a the two things that stick out in my mind are that last year, due to the type of spring we were having, we didn't have the water fountains on, at the post shelter. I took care of that last week, so we will have those water fountains on. And then the other complaint was from tree companies complaining about being too close to each other. Yeah. So Oh. Okay. So you guys can decide. Ultimately, when they complain to me, I'll say
Blame Leanne. It's my Yeah.
Talk talk to the tree board and the sustainability board. I don't decide who vendors do. Well, then if you guys would like to separate them because that is a request they've made, then Yeah. You guys can do that.
I think it's probably fair next
to each other. Keep it generic. Be prepared.
Something generic to say vendor vendors and bathroom Yeah. Food trucks to just let people know.
How are we labeling the tables here? Do we wanna, like, preprint some,
like, cards? Is this something we should talk about tomorrow in our meeting with the with the staff?
Yeah. There's two ways to do it. We can just have the numbers everywhere, and when people come up, you say you're number 12. Or we can pre you know, we'll know where everybody is so we could we could print ones that say, number one, Lowe's. Number two, not Home Depot. You know, like, we can we can have that so that there's absolutely no question where who's where's you know? And that's not hard. We can, you know, do four to a sheet and Yeah. Print it and cut it. You know?
So make sure there's a way to where there's a the table.
Yeah. Last last year, you
were Good.
Last year, you were
Packaging tape.
Every vendor on a separate sheet of paper meant to bring tape. I did that. I don't know if you guys put them on the tables or not. But last year in your bin, you guys had every single vendor on a eight and a half by eleven, and then tape it on the table. If you'd like to do that way, you also always have note card. There's always, like, in my list of stuff to make sure you guys have. There's always, like, index cards on there, so you could do it that way. Whatever you all would like.
I would say it's easier to just print it at eight and a half by 11, and that way there's no finishing. Like, we don't have to do any cutting or anything. Just one per page, and that's that. Then we just tape tape them on the table.
What time is the the rental company getting there in the morning, or are they doing it the day before? Sound. Day before. K. So Tom's crew will drive them because I think that's what happened last year. Drove them in on the trailer.
Mhmm. Definitely. The tables. The tables we rent.
But I think last year, you did them the day before, and I feel like Terry drove a truck with the trailer right onto the basketball court.
That's absolutely correct. We because it's a weekend rental, which is kinda sweet. Right? We don't it's nice. I can have them drop them off on Friday. So, yeah, we had them delivered to my office. We put them on a trailer and bought them in that way. I haven't finalized thing. I had to go through the city attorney this year to get, tables organized. So because there's an agreement involved with signatures. And in the past, that hasn't been a problem. Not signed it, but it's different now. Okay. So I haven't finalized the day of with them. I'll either have them delivered to the site, or we'll deliver to the site. But, yeah, I think that's right.
But we typically have plenty of time in the morning to get them labeled. Depends.
Oh, speaking of which, like, what time does everyone who's all coming in and working in? What time should we all
be there? What time do you wanna stay?
Yeah. I have it in my calendar starting at six. So do let me know what time makes most I think normally, it's sometime between seven or eight that
we're starting to set up tables.
What did we say in the meeting?
What we currently have in the day of schedule, so the planning committee has talked about is
07:30 sounds
Yeah. 07:30. 07:30. Seven Oh, alright. Somewhere in that. K. But we currently have
I wanna say it's almost last year. 07:30.
Mhmm. Yeah. We currently have. We're finish by 09:30.
So we currently have eight. Did did we want 07:30? So we could tell that tomorrow. Does that work out better from years past? Are we kinda wishing
I think no later than eight.
Okay.
The coffee vendor shows up early.
They have to be there at five.
I don't think I pay them for the volunteer volunteer's coffee because we're having a coffee vendor this year. Like, how do we do that?
Tell me more if you want.
Well, we're we want to pay for coffee for the volunteers. That are coming to That are yeah. So for us, basically.
Yeah. Do you want it to come out of your budget? Is that what we're saying? The tabs budget?
Wanna see if like, tabs tapped out. So yeah.
Tab. Tab. FAP. Okay.
I mean, are you guys okay with that?
Yeah. Cash bar for FAP, it sounds like.
Well, what would happen is I would just pay for it on a credit card, and then we would code it to your guys' budget.
Okay.
You could do it like a you know, like, when you go to a party and they're like, here are your two drink tickets.
Yeah.
And you take your drink ticket to the bar, we could, I mean, we could see if they're willing to do something like that where every every volunteer gets one or two coffee tickets, and they can walk up to the food truck.
One is fine. Then the food truck fly
them at high on vacation. Right. Exactly. Tickets?
Sure. There's there's a bunch of raffle tickets up in these bands. Just pick a color.
Know what pick it. Usually
currently have two or at least two, if not three, colors of raffle. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you could also just print something that says something.
And then we also talked about giving the Boy Scouts some home and ice vouchers
Uh-huh.
So that they can because they're volunteers too. I mean, they should get something, or we can just give them coffee.
That sounds weird to me. It's done. You know? It's
So I think just I think cone ice would be nice for them. They would appreciate that.
And there's five or six of them sent to you.
And then we'll just do the same thing. Get give them a ticket, and
then it's like, hey. Yes. That's fine. K.
And we probably wanna coordinate.
Maybe point of
with, like, maybe a day or two before with the vendor just in case they have a process Yeah. That they prefer for those kinds of things. Just instead of throwing it, be like, hey. If somebody comes up to you with this ticket, like, put it on a separate thing. You know? They they Right.
Keep track.
Yeah.
Yeah. You guys got this. Right? Yeah.
And we have a meeting tomorrow to go live some and stuff. Something else comes up, actually, you can shoot out an email to that you guys all if
you guys all need to know what comes up.
There's a staffing chart that they kinda go through in that meeting. Right?
I believe so. Yeah.
That we go through in that. So, Jason, you have been assigned to to from by the event committee, you have been assigned to event emcee. Prize booth lead has been assigned by that committee to TAB. Sustainability booth, obviously, them. Kids activity booth has been assigned to tab, and there are some other parking for the food trucks has not been assigned. Event lead hasn't been assigned. Forestry booth, that's goes without saying. Horticulture booths goes without saying. Tab booths goes without saying. They have runners.
There's a list on here. I don't know. And then exhibitor setup, I guess, it's like everybody. That'll probably get talked about again tomorrow.
Do you think your granddaughter can help us?
My granddaughter lives in Alabama now.
Oh, okay.
And I'm not gonna be here on
So you're talking, like, the kids' boosh or something like that? Because I can have my daughter. She's 15 and maybe one of her buds.
That would be cool to help it.
And, will you help with anything anymore?
Mine's home. My daughter's gonna roll her eyes pretty
hard at me. You know?
Seth. People
are all secretly loving.
Oh, it's my 15 year old son that he could come help and hang out with a 15 year old girl and maybe meet a
15 year old girl since
my daughter doesn't do anything with that unless Right. They'll get Kona. Nice.
And as far as the kids activity area, you guys have I have the multiple colors of leather
Floating sport.
Markers and tree bookies. K. That's what we have.
So that's the kids activities, the making of the which is
Yeah. Do
we have other vendor booths that have a I mean, like, I've Home Depot was one of the booths that had a kid activity last year, but I didn't know if
Some of them have definitely in those applications, some of them have mentioned stuff. Okay. Okay.
And we are gonna have some giveaways, like, some of that candy and stickers.
Yeah. Yeah. We got a candies.
And how I mean, how do we wanna handle the T shirts?
That's a good question.
Because I think, like, very quickly becomes free for all
Yeah.
When T shirts are gone and 40 people.
There's there's a handful of faces that I know I see every time that I'm pick I have no idea what their names are, but people that I know in the I think this is my fourth or fifth year that have come every year. So it'd be fun to acknowledge them, but that's also a slippery slope. And I might miss remembering a face or somebody else do it. But, no, that's a great question. Good answer to that.
Can you do a quiz, a tree quiz?
That would be fun. Yeah.
Then you give give the shirt away.
Do not
put me in charge of that because if someone's, like, got it wrong, I'm like, oh, you almost got a t shirt.
Maybe you want a silver one.
Yeah. Don't want that job.
As a forestry table this year, we're gonna have six boxes, like, by foot black boxes. It was a hole in the top that's about that big. We are going to put aggressively harder tree objects inside of them and, make it blind tree ID. So the first one will then in case the public is listening, the first one will be like an apple.
Okay. That's pretty amazing. And then not be like
an acorn a baby like a sweet gumball. And by by the time you get to six, it's gonna be like, oh, They get a shirt.
You make it to the unicorn, get the shirt in. Not making it that far.
It's like a side
of sport. It's something I wanna because there's gonna be some I wanna
Maple syrup.
I want you guys I want you
guys to all play the game too. So I can't tell you what the last two or three boxes are gonna be, but it's gonna get progressing. Maple syrup. This
is the
And then we will give folks Just a something.
I got a T shirt. Yeah.
It's up to you. I mean, we could
kid guys. But Kidna feel
like you guys. You
gotta make a kid's version of that.
Are they kids T shirts or are they adults T shirts? I don't know what They're adults
T shirts. I thought they were kids.
I thought we got kids.
Yeah. I don't
know what we got.
I don't
the Post it. Were you talking about getting
What did I write down?
I'm taking the Post it.
There's 20 of them. I feel like there are five of four different sizes. I don't know that any of them are children's. I think it's just a small, medium, large, and extra large, but they're all not there. So you can go take a look. You also have the pencils. Right? Yep. Know. Whole box of pencils, we have You
can give a
pencil to answer your coloring looks a whole box.
There we go.
Even though the pencil is free.
So alright. Here's another idea. You do the spin the wheel thing. It's T shirt, pencil, sticker.
Whatever. Fun. Yeah.
That way
That's a good idea.
Same thing with or, well, kinda goes along with the idea of not just giving away twenty three minutes in one go. But How do
we get a wheel?
Yeah. Exactly.
Do we have a wheel?
He wants to make a wheel.
Who's the wheel? Someone has a wheel. Maybe communications.
Cycling store. Maybe they Our
planning does. Something. Somebody's cycling. Yeah. It's their one weekend.
They just don't want in some ways.
The public
one right now.
Yeah. That's the one who's listening or Facebook marketplace.
Yeah.
Well, they had some get one off face or excuse me.
Amazon Prime for a 12 inch one. Pretty small. It's black but comes with a white marker. Love it. It's $22.
Done.
But it looks like you can get one that's 18 inches. It's multicolored, dry erase style for $39.99.
You can
get one that's 24 inches, comes with a stand, multicolored dry erase for $59.99.
I've got the budget, though.
Dollar would probably do it, the colorful one.
See what you got.
It's you said it's 18 inches. Right? I think I have a twister
thing with this all over the go away. You
got a pencil, and your right foot needs to go away.
Win twister to get a t shirt.
There you go. Oh my god.
Big twister. That should go with the t shirt. You could make the t shirt, you know, slice smaller than the other slices.
I like it. Yeah.
So we don't know if you can with these pre buff.
When the t shirts are gone, we just put a put some
Yeah.
Marker or something over Sure. Yeah. A fixed dry erase, and we just
Reset it.
Erase it and put pencil.
Pencil is like a quarter of it. Yeah.
I think the teacher is
just this. Well, don't
have that many giveaways to I like, how would that work? Like It depends. Everyone gets to spend it.
Yeah. Well, What I mean
are we gonna give them? Like
Alright. Shirt bickeries.
So you can be. Yeah. Okay. What's what's going on?
If you came up with this one got some mixed reviews, let's
just say. But you could say, make the pencils two or three. Yeah. Make the t shirt one
Yeah.
Of the triangles and do it that way if you wanna
Well, I guess we're
just giving the pencils. But everyone's
It's whatever. They have to earn them.
Yeah. They're still they just have to spin it and see what they worse.
They feel like they've won it other than they Yes.
Worst case is somebody's gonna get the pencil that they were gonna get. And now Yeah.
Yeah. Right.
But I think it's interactive.
Let's see. Yeah. Some shirts.
And I
think the shirt is the only one we'd have to be no. You only get the shirt if you like it. Because some lady with a pencil and they really wanted a sticker. We're not gonna say that.
T shirt. You've got the T shirts. How do we, like you walk up and Yeah.
Yeah. Otherwise, it has a dance wheel.
It's just a T shirt.
Do it.
Yeah. And do it. No.
I like to say
doing this video. The shirts and
Like, T shirt. T shirt. Shirt. Yeah.
That's also nice.
The crowd. We could even interact.
They need to crowd a little closer together.
Possibly a line.
Take somebody out. Think the spinning wheel is better idea.
It's you could do seed packets too or something like that.
Oh, I like that.
Yeah. That need to
It's not expensive. Not
I like the wheel idea.
Towards the to the Masa seed point.
I like it.
Like, if we could get seed
raise it.
Yeah. We could get I mean, that could be an additional project. Have
gonna talk to them tomorrow. So I send packets. This would be great. Probably, like, T shirts. Many would we get?
How much are they, and what's our budget right now
that we
have left?
They're probably, I don't know, in the two, three dollar range. I can
get them I want them at Eat and Grow for $4 a packet. So, yeah, I think If we to $3 would leave them the margin they were trying to probably make.
And we're saying we've got 1,300 right now that we're spending. What's our budget for the year?
$5. 5. I just have a feeling we're gonna want I mean, part of the big reason we asked for an increase was the Fruit Tree Rescue and that this is shaping up to be a
hell
of a year for fruit trees. That's where we stand right now. It could all change in a month. But, like, I think people are gonna have abundance of, like, peaches and plums, fruit that maybe are not always traditionally super low.
How much of our budget is has to be secured for that?
$7.50 to start.
$7.50. Okay.
But I'm just curious if it ends up going up if we get higher demand. But, again, yeah, we're we're not really in spring chain very heavily. But then there's the rentals. We're not factoring the rentals. That's a big chunk of money for, like, tables and everything.
Can we split that with SAB, the rentals? You're not this year, we're splitting it with the sustainability division, but we're splitting it. But That's what I did. Just thought. Yeah.
So Yeah. But but
but Sadly.
Town department versus the board. Yeah.
But that's still probably, like, a thousand dollar bill or so, right, All told? Probably. It's okay. 500 out of our budget. Okay.
So regarding the wheel, you if and tab are right next to each other, you can put a table on the middle, put the wheel there and share both boards with them. Yeah.
Because they've got lot of
swaggy stuff that they might wanna put on their move. Yeah.
They don't
have a great idea. Yeah. Because it's like you can get a lot of them and you know? How many would we how much are we willing to spend on this? If we're already putting 1,300 towards prices, do we wanna add another couple $100? I can check and see how much I can get for 200. Maybe there's some sort of bulk discount or something. Yeah. Both a sudden you go with 17. Is good?
Something. Yeah. And just See how
it goes. I think, yeah, ask Sav if they think about for
I I used them last year.
Well, I mean, people wait. Are they gonna be giving away the Excel boxes again? Yes.
Okay. Do not I got anyone's family go home with COVID.
Wanna do this?
Yeah.
Let's do it.
Should I?
I think there's, like, two of those sitting in my laundry room. It's still
Well, and we're
already erratically, so we don't be like this. Defensible. Yeah. It's little bit of It's
still our favorite ones. Yeah. We got, like, a nice team of night lights. Yeah. We
can decorate them with tree stickers. Yeah. I'll bring those on.
You could.
At the end of it.
You could. Just throw them on the table. People will take them. We don't know.
They should. That feels reasonable. I mean, that feels like a reasonable I
think that's that's what we have for our birthday birthday.
Yeah. If anything else comes up, you know, she starts tomorrow after the meeting for next week. Whatever. Yeah. Definitely. Otherwise, yeah, I think we'll all plan on getting there at 07:30.
K.
I'll gladly emcee, but then for the most part, I'll just be there letting you guys It's cool that it's free standing. Done.
Okay.
So Tommy will get us the spinner wheel?
That's yeah.
He's the assistant. Oh,
it's Oh, that's Love it. Metal Still waxed hands. Well, you got dry erase.
No. Next year, we can
use it. Gives good review. Assuming nobody flakes it.
We can use it at other things. Yeah.
Yeah. You can tell
it's got other details.
That's the cool thing. I mean, years ago, we didn't have a raffle spinner. Now we got a raffle spinner. And you got the You have the thickest spinning wheels set that we have in
the yard.
Yeah. It it create you know, these are it's not like it's not one single So does
the evergreen stuff. Yeah. We're just slowly building up stuff we use every year. It's great to know. Yeah. K. Well, that one's got 14 colors.
Like you said, we can use a couple of different ones.
But if Sab wants to join in on it, then you can
Yeah.
And you
can double or triple things up.
Sometimes those wheels are exactly like that. The cheapest prize has four slots or something. Yeah. That's just part of
the game.
And I think that would be the stickers or something like that for
that stickers. The seeds. Like, half of them could be seeds or something. Yeah.
If it's I don't know. Whatever. 12 if it's 12 slices, one could be T shirt, two could be seeds. And Yeah.
And were you maybe change that because you run out of salt?
We did get that pretty good.
Do we care what kind of seeds?
What is that?
What the that time of year? Flowers and veggies and
Oh, mix would be good.
Yeah. Yeah.
A mix of everything? Okay.
Maybe stuff that you would
We could do flower seed and veggie seed. That could be one of the you could you know, we can split that on the board. It's like two veggie seed. If somebody falls really strongly about a veggie seed versus a flower, you know, flower seed versus veggie seed, Switch it up. But okay.
Don't switch it. You get what you get? No. I'm switching it. And you don't Probably have in a townhouse.
Claudia. Yeah. And Ashton, I figure out they're selling their seeds. Good luck. Because I would love to just, like, promote them and be like, hey. If you love them, go to the store. That because I've only seen it in Eaton Grove, and that's up by Greeley. So I'd just be curious if they have places in Boulder County or closer to us and well that are selling their seeds to retail. They built this nice, like, display rack for those guys. It was really pretty and well done. They had it positioned really well. But the team was really excited about having it and selling them.
I bought them
all this year.
Okay. So they sell online? Yeah.
I'll ask if they have them in Yeah. Before they sell them locally.
Alright. It's good. Just Sorry
to back. Yeah. Let's
It's just a sec. Tom large numbers.
Back to the vendor table assignment list. Since I'll be creating the, sorry. The math. Since I'll be creating the assignments, do you want me to create that as well and print that?
It's not
the break the regulatory.
I'm just gonna do that. I'm just gonna print it myself. Tom doesn't have to worry about it.
By the way, love you. Yeah. Good. Awesome.
Love you.
There's site. Thanks.
On the massive sites, like, four to
five. Because I'm gonna be creating the vendor assignments with where people are going with table. Definitely.
Maybe they'll give us a
It might be easier if I just also then create the individual sheets.
Sure.
And then I'm happy to just print print that all so that it's we know where it is and it's not in a bin and we miss it.
Mhmm.
Okay. Maybe colorful paper. Yeah. I don't know.
That's it. That is what I did did last year. I do remember that. I got
Green or something. We did Yeah.
I do on that she brings up a great point. On that note, I I don't I know if it'll be the planning committee who does it or or who, but it it's in your best interest to come some of you to come to laws and look at your bins ahead of the event and stuff like that. I don't really go in those things. Like so they look they look the way they looked at the end of the event last year.
Okay.
And we would have used them last at the airfare.
The airfare. Yeah. They were we went through Claudia and I pretty quickly and
grabbed the things that we needed, so it wasn't that bad. Oh, it's in two weeks. Sorry. Yeah. One one would be good.
Whenever you guys want I'm usually there Tuesday through Friday. This time of year, I'm there a lot on Mondays, but only if people need me there on Monday. If we're gonna do a separate drawing for kids
If we're doing the, BlackRock for the planting We should do that. Onto the future So
they're all
still
the fifteenth?
Yep. We could I could potentially go on the fifteenth. Are you available on the fifteenth?
What time? I
think the I think it's at ninety Ninety fifteen. I could also
get some other note on that
Well, fine.
Right. To make sure that we have enough kids or stuff. Yeah.
Could go for like, fun.
And then could you ask?
What what time?
A guy would Yeah.
I'd literally answer.
Probably not done until, like, 01:00. That's why I can't help you guys with that planting the future thing because I'm working at that time. I'll let you know, but I think it would for me, it would be afternoon to be able to go over there.
Okay. Let me know. Maybe the fifteenth, we'll stop by and look at the bins.
Sure. Let me have a look at my calendar. I'm sure we can do it. I just don't know what the end of day on the fifteenth.
We're we're not sure on the time just yet,
so we'll just have a new.
K. Do we have anything else for Arbor Day?
I heard from staff that he's scheduled to be out of town, but they have it on schedule just in case he's in town. So I wouldn't plan on him this year. And then I haven't heard back from senator Wallace and if there was anybody else you guys wanted me to invite or not. I don't have to be political.
I believe I heard the mayor was busy that day.
Is he in California? Okay. But Yeah.
Perfect.
Thank you
for asking. Questions.
Yeah.
Yeah. Of course.
So so for council, it'll be you two and anyone else? There's one more. Brandon's gonna be there.
Brandon. Brandon.
Oh, John is gonna be there too.
Okay. So four? K.
Are we doing a tree planting? I'm always in for tree planting.
Do we need another tree in that one corner?
That's a miscommunication. But, yeah, that's a tough place for trees to not get vandalized. So most of our trees from these events have been vandalized. Oh, K.
Good job. I'm
not there at night.
Yeah. Let's not make judgments. Yes.
Is there better could be responsible adults with jobs? I don't know. You
know what? Right. So true.
I have no idea. I just don't like coming to work. They're broken in half. No. But I would love to plant a tree or have a tree ready to be planted.
Yeah. Let's do it with that Hawthorne.
Exactly.
Yeah. Black locusts. Yes.
Mastodon killing. So we are, like, focused. Yeah. We can hold plant something. And you guys wanna do it ceremonial style, like,
do the Do we have
the flag ceremony, some work, and then lead into a planting, and then throw off the event, golden shovels and all? Day sort of thing.
I mean
Now it's weird. Yeah. I love it. So How about Ceruleo, how
further, like, further away from Yeah. I mean, last year Vandal Hill. Our tree from last year is good because we did it on the, yeah, on the others the downhill side of Vandal Hill. Good point. Yeah. The tree from last year is there. Trees from other years are not. Yeah. We'll do it kinda right off the basketball court on the float that comes down. Nice. Do you guys have a preference, or you want me to pick something healthy? Pick something. Can go see
about something. No. Sturdy.
Is the London plane?
The original London plane kind of? Yeah. Still works. Oh, sad.
I loved that tree.
That was a beefy tree too. That was, like, two two and a half inches. They smacked that many.
Leave, plants it. Is it
usually, like, the mayor who's not gonna be there?
It's usually members of the council. Yeah. Yeah.
You too? Nice.
Let's do it. You know.
Right? You have to do it. Make sure we get tree board this
year. Something that will
Say it. We're better than y'all on that shoulder. I'll do a salad. Oh,
this is the tree planting ceremony.
You've actually got a plant in the future South East for you. It'll be awesome.
I have a couple I still have a couple catalpas in pots that never made it into the ground, those plantings.
We were
just buying one of these, friend. I think so. I mean, unless I got It looks like it's smallest amount. They're a thousand pairs. Dang. Oh, they're so they're four different colors, though. Four different colors, a thousand pairs for $6 might be a nice thing to just have around.
Sure. These are raffle
tickets. $6. We'll have them forever.
They had me a ticket. You use these for the kids. You could use these for your tickets to for people to get coffee, and that's true. Fact.
It's probably a a I so I think there's not downside to having different color. Yeah.
When a ice gets one color, coffee gets another color.
Yeah. But it's only 250 per color.
That's alright. That's fine.
I think
that's yeah. I mean, I get I think the worst case, like, if if by some reason, there's 500 kids that show off.
Just Okay.
Those are for the adults.
Colors worth it. I think.
Got it.
I I think we start
off three months.
Take it for their
smaller kids. Yep. Like, those those are great. That's part of the kids' activities. Actually, I I will let this part
sit here till the end of the meeting. This is odds on him.
Brian, since
suspended our budget. I
don't have a card.
So you're so designated shopper.
Perfect.
Well, we gotta get to $25 so it's free of shipping.
Yeah. Really? Just like Oh, okay. Keep going.
I think that was 25
for that.
Well, I
25 is, like, the one day shipping
Yeah.
From Amazon.
And for business? I have no idea.
I just It is for business.
Another new person. We got blast through the last few Yeah. Of. A
girl. They have an update. You, Arthur.
Thank you. For counsel to approve on those.
Oh, so
There's way to have that.
They would know that. He's Come through.
K. You suggested somebody already?
Essentially reopened. Yep. We had Patty and I, two of them moved. So and then Alright.
Didn't we we're Well, it was last
last month.
$4.80. We did do that. The town clerk about a week, week and a half ago asked me for your guys' ranking. I said, I do not have it. I didn't participate because I'm not supposed to. And then I sent Claudia an email and said, can you please provide it to the town clerk? And I think you did. Right?
I sent it the day after the meeting.
Yeah. Yeah. So she has it. Yeah. That's But she does she already responded to my personal email and said, hey. You've been chosen, and here you go. We'll follow-up. Point. And, actually,
that seemed no response. Anointed. Yeah. Is Steve Humphrey
aware? Yeah.
Yeah. Anointed. Anointed.
And now we just have to wait for the new person to get approved. Let's look into that.
Their first meeting would be the May meeting anyway. I believe it was the time. So I I I'll follow-up with with Michelle. We should
invite her to our birthday.
I agree.
Yeah. I Jason, have you invited did you have you told her you've invited us?
Alright. We're deviated.
It's okay. I
No. But I I adding
things for a purpose. Make sure Yeah.
Because that that's what I did. So I get
That's one. I think it was nightlight.
I think you did. That was before
I had come to a meeting. Yeah. I was able to come to Harbor Day. Yeah. That was nice. Because it was like, oh, okay. Cool.
There was a test.
Meet everybody and trial by fire. Exactly.
Right. It's gonna be like this every meeting. Oh my gosh.
Exactly. Yeah. This would be a a better meeting to invite them.
Yeah. They do have to answer a bunch of tree questions, though, which just gets progressively harder and harder.
And a mystery box. Yeah.
A mystery box. They ignited with a You know, a tree, a sapling. You know?
Wait. They were actually alright. Alright. So we Alright.
Anything else about Arbor Day before we move on?
Patty, you feel good.
Dinnertime. I got Yeah.
So you got Jason's
got one. Yeah.
Yeah. I responded. Yeah.
Yeah. The machine is
Pass it. Sounds better.
But, yeah, I'll check-in with Michelle and make sure, I can get her contact and reach out. Right. Perfect. We have nothing else about Arbor Day. I'm gonna hop on to the next agenda item. Fifth grade poster contest. This year, we got five schools. Red Hawk, Erie, Soaring Heights, Highlands, and Black Rock all participated. So I got those posters over to Amanda, like, you know, three weeks ago or so. So they're down in the CTC. So I will follow-up with Amanda and see if they've announced a winner. I have not heard on that, but then I will also send the three or who should I send the pictures of the poster to? All three of you guys? Is it really just I
definitely need it so I can put it on the sandwich.
I don't need it. Okay.
Alright. Then I'll just send it to you.
Do send them to me for
stickers, mister Gar. Stickers. So presentation presentation
to the council. Of course. I mean, exactly. I'm I'm always curious to see what they well, so if you need mister Garner.
You wanna be on it too? Absolutely.
I'd just like to see what that tier There was
some really, really, really good ones. You said there was five? There was five. Yeah. So
it's like the So or not, like, in the roof.
How many people how many kids from your school? I guess it's every fifth grade.
Well, one of the this teacher, I we were trying to coordinate a day to pick him up, and eventually he was like, I'll just come to your house on my way home. And he came and dropped me, like, 30 of them. And I was like he was like, the top one's the winner. He's like, I didn't know what to do with the rest. And I was like I'm, like, 29.
So there you are.
See how I gotta get back with him and be like, I I can't do anything with these. I feel terrible about them. You could.
I don't even
know what to do with kids. Really? It's in past.
Because they have they have all their little things.
Yeah. You could say one of the schools.
And it's out of your house.
That's Spanish. Brilliant.
Are there. I don't
feel guilty because I just feel Well, 18? Yeah. 12 by 18.
What might be a good idea is instead of taking a picture of them, swing them past my office, and we'll scan them because what Ashley does with them can only be as good as your your picture.
I don't have the winners. I gave the I just have the one teacher that dropped me off, like, all the participants, but then had the winner on the top. I gave the actual poster to Amanda that went down to the The winning poster. Yeah. So then what do you
guys want on the sandwich board this morning?
I have pictures of those. So I was gonna send you the pictures Yep. Which goes back to your point. It's only as good as the picture they took. I tried to stage it. Yeah. I I will send out. K. Next topic is the newsletter. April is all set. So I think Tom already mentioned that Ashley and communication team are working on this, so we should start the we should see the draft relatively soon. Do we wanna start taking the next one? Deadline is June 1. Do we wanna talk about that, or do we wanna push that to the May meeting and solve it in May?
I'm sorry.
Why don't everybody try to come to the May meeting with, like, an idea or two? Yeah. I it's hard. Again, I'm gonna go back to that water. I think water is gonna be our our main topic in the June 1.
Yeah.
So maybe we're talking about, like, drought tolerant trees. We're talking about proper watering, that kind of thing. Mhmm. But if we decide the topics in May, then that would give whoever's writing them, like, three weeks to get them over to Tom again with that June 1 deadline.
Even regard think regardless of what happened in the next, like I assume banner
in that
Banner month. I think it's probably fair to start seeding well as
being tended. Like, again That idea. What's internal Your external. Unless you
get, like, 10 inches of moisture.
Well, but even then,
you know, next you know, if if Show where you're If this is a trend that is actually going
to It's always gonna a lot of that email.
Take place over time
Yeah.
Then I think people it's it's worth us starting that conversation now. Because, I
mean, without
without proper snowpack, right, I mean, we always gonna be kinda
Yeah.
You're right. It just kinda runs off and Doug and Ford is be It's just gonna This
is this is not a this is I think
Dawn's downriver from us is down score. But
We can talk about health care. Yeah. Exactly.
It's not
worth and he's trying to come in. Right. You know, this could be a. Yeah. Although they're super. But
even if it is one year, in two years or three years, it'll if there will be another bad year, and somebody will either, you know matter. Either will remember or somebody will remember because we were like, hey. This is, like, you know, probably just good practice.
It's good practice. This is a good practice. Save your trees.
Yes. I'm sorry.
Easier to replace.
Turf is boring, and it's very little benefit.
For today
Trees are where was that at?
It's on in Sao Arapaho and 55th area. There's, like, a brewery. It's like a circle with
Oh, those are It's
a circle.
Those are Avery's trees probably. Right? Or is it Avery Broom? Mm-mm. No.
It's in office. It's in an office.
Oh, it's over there. Love And, yeah, there's another one over there.
So But it's a it's like a
outside of an office. Was telling them that I rescued some crabapples today because they started they're getting girdled from the staking. Staking. Yeah. Some of my They They are a person either. Some of them were already stuffed. You know? And they they were stuck to the tree. So that was my good deed for today.
The music. Was here. Know? Yes. The
the vandalism. I'm not sure.
And the landscape were were actually driving as we were doing.
And so I
was like, should have done this.
Speaking of vandalism, I've been
Too bad.
To limb up
That's through the right bit.
Tree at the corner of park. I think if you could, like They're gonna be embarrassing. Ranches are super loving. Right.
Topic is planting your future. We did two schools last week. We have one more in person to go that's on the fifteenth, and then there's three schools that I will be dropping stuff off next week. The big question I have is for Tom on this one. We have 14 total more kids needed for this year. Do we have enough? 14 total. We got six schools that showed interest. I may have overextended us. Because they were Great idea from Brian. I think our contact list went from, like, 30 to 90 schools this year.
All I need is the best way to do this is an email Yeah. With accurate numbers Got of classes, the days that you're gonna pick them up, and the number of students in each class. So Okay. And I will make that.
Will send I
don't know if I'll need to create any.
Snoring Heights, like, kept all of the posters that you
We're really good on posters. I solved that problem too. We haven't even gotten to
our reserve site. On Wednesday. Next Wednesday. Yeah.
Yeah. This sort of stuff happens.
Yeah. That's our last person. The three kits were Nope. I gotta drop one off on I got three all three.
Just make sure I know what day you're coming to pick. No. We didn't know. What time you're coming to How many kits you need. Oh, the posters. And how many That's the one. So that's not many. But I'll build the kids up and have them ready to go on. And I have some notes from March 11 on that.
I I've got the updated notes sitting right here. I I filed it before I came here today, so that'll just take me two seconds to Sounds good. Get over to you. But
I just build myself little calendar appointments and put your details in there. Yeah. That'll work.
So what time did you pick for April 15 for BlackRock?
09:15. 09:15. So I'll get there about 09:00. Yeah.
Plan to be there for now.
I'll pick up the kids because I gotta get with Tom, and because I've got a drop off a kid on Monday or the third Eerie Elementary. So Yeah.
Was fine.
I need some kids for next week, but that's why I will get you that.
It's and it's the fifteenth, right, not the thirteenth?
The fifteenth. That is next next Wednesday. Next Wednesday.
Excellent. Do it then. I was like, every Yeah. I've got The day I had. So I just can't Give me the new update. Okay. So you're off. Perfect.
That's alright. I can be there. And who was
My notes, I have Emily, Brian, Claudia, and myself.
Who? Who do you got?
I've got you, Emily, and Claudia, and myself for that one. Sweet.
How many classes?
Three classes with 30 kids each. And
it's a
little I think they talked to over
a 100 kids or a 100 kids in
I have, like, a 100,000 children in the I have no idea how big that's school. At Spanish hundred kids in
Soaring Soaring Heights.
I know
if that's in eighth grade, but I was still Yeah. Along the way about
size. It's cool.
Okay. K.
Alright. Next subject are the tree walks. I think sorry. I wasn't here last month, but it sounds like we're all good on the tree walks. Right? We had already kinda confirmed May was gonna be at community center, and then it sounds like June 11, 6PM at the dog park. Was that confirmed?
Eleven
or twelve? Eleven.
I have eleven.
The Thursday? Mhmm.
Yes. At 06:00 at the dog park.
What day is it, Nick? The eighth.
Wait a minute.
Eighth is a Friday.
We will. It's the eleventh.
I had June 11, 6PM at the dog park
with dogs. Dog park's not Reliance parking.
Yes. Mhmm. It is? Well,
it's next there's the boneyard. That's the dog park, and it's next to Reliance Park. Is that where the place it is in the Reliance Park? Mhmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Same parking lot.
Are they putting in the new this incoming newsletter that the tree walk is happening? PM dates. Yep. John one trees. They ate
Thank you. He's probably.
There. Oh, yeah. He's sending.
And May 8 is still I wanna make
sure it was trees didn't get set back at all by that. I want our dog park to have shaved something. It's really bad one. Yeah. I don't fertilize trees, but we started fertilizing trees at the dog park. We upgraded the irrigation this year. We changed their mulch situation, yeah, I really hope Looks good. They I really hope that they actually thrive after that project. Are you having somebody pick up the poop? No, ma'am. Because there was some poop picker uppers there the other day. Oh, there's there's a contractor. Oh, they pick up the They don't pick up loose food, but they pick up
It's fine. It was the first trash bin.
Composted nerve. Oh. There's a specific company that composts that. So
You're kidding. Back and all.
Here we can.
That's how we use special back food.
Really? Even one that big yard. Probably. That's gotta be pretty hot compost to kill whatever's in the no. Like, there's different levels. Yeah. Here yeah. Here you which is kinda why it had to be, like, a particular commercial.
I know Barry lives about it.
Our open space manager knows probably most about it. Okay.
But K.
Yeah. Thought, well, somebody's coming here to pick up the poop again? Oh, I do with the dog park is tricky.
Well, we're only the best
for you. And I know I pick up my poop. I can watch my dog. I know exactly where he's gonna poop and what Rescue. It's very
Yeah. For the fruit tree rescue, there's not much of an update. You guys already kinda confirmed that. We'll talk about it at Arbor Day. And then just for your all personal wealthy and Karen sent me this really cool email that they're doing a lot of fun classes. So if you guys wanna check out, it's worth going on their website and seeing some of the classes they will do this spring. I don't know that any are coming in eerie. I think it's more into their their normal boulder market, but, some fun, relevant, pruning class type things. And then for other business, the only other business I have is you need to do your security training.
No. I did it. You did? I did it.
Okay. Then I have no other business.
A quick question. In my supply list for things that I need to make sure get brought to Arbor Day and created before Arbor Day, Do we want the sticker map again for tree walks?
I think we've got. Because we do two in the spring and two in the fall.
I am. Yeah.
K. I'll bring stickers anyway.
Okay.
We'll never not bring stickers now.
I was breathing like once. I'm just going through that once to watch it.
No. I am. It's been good.
Got a It was, like,
a Friday, and so it was weird. You guy and Good.
How is me all Sounds good. Back up. Okay. That's how fit for Owl House.
Actually signed you know, my work account and the Erie account, and then I have the university account and, like stop by. Didn't get trans it was, like, anyway.

Actually, a few days ago, I did my secret.
Oh, we're we'll put those out. And it it's supposed to Sunday sale me, like, the three weeks stuff. It's, like, eviction.
Yeah. I probably did it, like, a few days later. Perfect.
Yes. Thanks.

Alright. Then it is 07:55 here on the eighth, and the tree board meeting is adjourned. Thank you, everybody.
