El Paso city leaders spent a couple of days mapping out the city's future. The mayor, city council, and senior staff met for the city's strategic planning session, using community input and city data to align priorities and results. The city's youth advisory board also joined the session to share youth perspectives on the city's priorities. Council approved a unified framework with five pillars: economic mobility, public safety, infrastructure, quality of life, and good governance.
You have to come together. You have to communicate. You have to make sure everyone's on the same sheet of music. So, it's it's an opportunity for us to really come together to listen to one another, to make sure that there is that alignment so that we can move the the El Paso community forward. If you're not communicating, if you don't know what the constituents need, if you don't know what your residents need, then you're just guessing. So, this is a way that we really have alignment. We make sure that we know what they need. We know what they want, and we try to figure out the best ways to make that happen.
The 2-year action plan officially begins in September of fiscal year 2027. However, city staff will start the implementation process immediately. Now, a reminder, the public is invited to attend council meetings held every other week on Mondays and Tuesdays. Meetings are also shown live at 9:00 a.m. on the city of El Paso YouTube channel.
