Let me sit you at your place. Hope you got your sunscreen on.
I'm trying to move in a spot that's okay.
6 o'clock. We ready yet? We're online? OK. All right. I believe everybody's here. So I'm going to call to order this meeting of the Edgefield County Council. This is a call meeting July 14, 2026, 6 PM, to take up one item of business on our agenda. But first, we'll start with the call to order. And I've asked our clerk to council Aretha Eubanks to do the invocation, be followed by the pledge. But also before the invocation, I would like to take a moment of silence for the Lindsey Graham family. So we'll do a moment of silence and then the invocation. If everyone will please stand.
Let's have that moment of silence, please.
Thank you.
Please bow your heads. Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you right now, God, first and foremost, to say thank you, Lord. Thank you for allowing us to come together one more time. Father God, I ask right now that you bless the family, keep the family of Senator Lindsey Graham, God. Comfort them as much as they need and require, God. But now, Lord, we ask that as we are gathered today, Lord, we ask that you bless this meeting. Keep each and every last one of us And we'll forever honor you and praise you. And in Jesus' name we do pray. Amen.
Amen. Let's join us in the pledge.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. Please be seated.
Let me note for the minutes and for those watching that Tiffany Ireland is not here, but she is here by phone. So Ms. Ireland, can you tell us you're here?
I am here.
Can y'all hear her?
Mm-hmm. Okay.
All right. So she is here, so we have a full house. So we have one piece of business tonight, and this is consideration of approval of third reading of Ordinance 25-26-011, an ordinance authorizing the sale of a general obligation bond, Series 2026, or other such appropriate series designation of Edgefield County, South Carolina, and the principal amount not exceeding $6,250,000, fixing the form and details of the bond, authorizing the county administrator or his lawfully authorized designee to determine certain matters relating to the bond, providing for the payment of the bond, and the disposition of the proceeds thereof and other matters relating thereto. Before we give this potential third reading, I'll ask the administrator if he has any new or different information.
Thank you. I don't have any new information, but just for the benefit of the public that may be listening, the purpose of this bond is to fund two of the three parcels at the industrial park that the county is purchasing to construct an EMS headquarters and then to do... Renovations and constructions on various county buildings. A couple of examples are the existing EMS station that will require some renovations and the courthouse roof, the flat part of the roof is going to require replacement. So things of that nature. That's all. Thank you.
Questions or comments from council? I appreciate David itemizing what we were going to do because there was some little talk out there this week online about They knew about the EMS, but they were uncertain about what the other was. I appreciate filling them in. Thank you. Any other comments, questions from counsel?
Okay. Hearing none, is there a motion to approve third reading of Ordinance 25-26-011? So moved.
I believe Mr. Talbert made the motion, and I guess Mr. Smith made the motion.
Any discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor, please signify by raising your hand. Ms. Ireland, how do you vote? That means the motion passes unanimously. Council, with no other business on the agenda, I will accept a motion to adjourn. So moved. Mr. Tyler makes the motion, and Dr. Kenyon seconds. Any discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor, please signify by raising your hand. All opposed? Ms. Ireland, how do you vote? I vote in the affirmative. All right. So the motion passes unanimously, and we are adjourned.
Thank you.
