City Council - Regular Meeting

Good evening everybody. This is the DCN smoke coming to you live very very briefly. Tomorrow, the Rocky Mount city government will be traveling to Raleigh to the LGC, the local government commission to present to them um how they will uh increase and um um what's the word? increase and to cut um um in order to um um attempt to keep LGC from taking over. Um the Rocky Mountain City government met on yesterday. Uh had a utilities hearing so people could comment. But um it just tickles me that um these folk are not paying attention and full of distraction and deflection especially coming from uh uh the two that has been named heroes. Um, one is one of the reason why uh Keith Rogers was uh brought here [snorts] and the only one that did not vote to dismiss him. And then the other one is new on the council that has uh gotten all kind of grant money from the city. Got about four or five nonprofits, dilapidated buildings downtown. Um,

but the problem is I see all these comments and folk post and folks send them to me, especially on Rocky Mount concerned citizens. Um, um, the special seas running down uh, black leadership and then you got safe negroes that that helping them. But what I don't see is uh uh white folk uh uh um going after uh the whites on the council that played a role. There two whites and two blacks. I don't see the white folk going after the two white guys, but I see black folk going after the black leadership. And what tickles the hell out of me is uh you had these black folk um talking about how uh give uh Keith Rogers a chance, the the these little guys that want to be uh uh uh future leaders. Um and and and and and um try to discredit Andre and Ruben. Uh they said he was good for Rocky Mount. Uh give him a chance. Okay, y'all. G he was given a chance, but y'all have forgot all about that. Y'all got damn amnesia. But you ain't got amnesia again. It's all about trying to discredit Andre and Ruben. Y'all just sick. But uh it's going to all come out in the

wash. Um, I I I I sometime think uh like I did when uh Trump ran the first time. I wanted him to win cuz I wanted America to hit rock bottom. Maybe that will wake some asses up. And so maybe that's what it's going to take for Rocky Mount. Those guys fought for 20 plus years. uh uh kept the lights uh the utilities down and um now this is what they get. Ungrateful negroes. I ain't talking about white folk cuz hey they going to be what they be them special C's cuz all white folk ain't a ain't uh bad. Uh just like all black folk ain't bad. Them safe negroes and them special seas they dangerous. But what tickles the hell out of me is the city is in financial crisis. The audit spelled out how it got there with Keith Rogers over the past two years, not uh uh um uh responding to um the council. Uh although four of them won't ask no questions but the other two and three was and um so that's where they are now and um all the focus is on Andre and Ruben when they were not in the audit. OIC was not in the audit. Andre what they coming after him was not in the audit. Like I said yesterday at the meeting, y'all talking y'all facts

but not the documented facts. And so that's where I am. Um I don't want to hear you miss. I'm not even engaging in your ignorance. Um but what I am going to say is you know what tickles the hell out of me is like I said yesterday keep using elderly folk. Majority of the elderly folk pay their bills cuz they were not raised like that. Elderly people is going to make sure their bills is paid. When I was paying my dad bills uh uh uh he made sure that his bills were paid. older people make sure their bills are paid. It's these young folks uh and I say young uh my age 63 on down that don't want to pay no damn bills. And that's the problem in the black community and I've been saying it for years. White folk been saying it uh uh uh uh and and um but I've been saying it too. Some of these black folk want something for nothing. They want handouts. Pay your damn bills. You don't want to pay your bills. That's what the damn problem is. But you going to learn because if uh LGC don't take over, you going to pay the city. And if they do take over, you going to pay. and where it has been that uh you had some lenency cuz see in um uh Edgecom Martin where my license is after about 3 days you don't pay they shut you down but it was not like that in Rocky Mountain uh it's it's going to that

you enjoyed the ride all these years but now it's coming to an end simply because of Keith Rogers And folks talking about blame putting the blame on him. Hell yeah. That's what the audit saying. Him them salaries and then he bringing in his own people. Like I said yesterday, you're talking about two different management teams. They're not the same. So, uh you can't treat them the same. Um, and why y'all around here talking crazy supporting folk that um, I don't understand how people can even support folk after yesterday. Every meeting they talking about they don't have information and the city manager had to tell them they got it and they got it from the clerk and Ben had it and y'all still following. They had damn information, but to tell you they didn't because they were giving y'all their own facts and got busted, but y'all still follow them. So, keep on following. Like I said earlier, they'll carry you right down the same path that Keith Rogers did. So, if y'all like it, I love it. But what I am going to do and hell no I don't live in Rocky Mountain but I explain to that uh my fight in it in it. I'm going to keep on fighting while y'all distracting and deflecting. It's sad. But at the end of the day, we going to

see what happen when when when uh um you start feeling the crunch cuz it's coming. That's right. It's coming. So, you better get ready. Whether uh the city keep it or the LGC take over, either way you gonna get it, but you gonna get it worse. Uh uh um cuz they ain't going to just think about it. They going to come in and just do the damn thing. Just start cutting and and uh increasing and uh so we we we going to see. But I'm just going to see how many of you go to uh Raleigh tomorrow. That's what I'm gonna see. Me and somebody talking about uh I said that you being reactive now, but where were you when uh uh you ain't been to no means? Somebody said, "Well, uh would it make a difference?" You know, y'all tickle the hell out of me because you talking about holding elected officials accountable when you vote them in. Same way you vote them out and all that foolishness. Well, you don't hold them accountable because you don't go to the meeting. So, you going to hold them accountable on what? The noise. If you had been going to the meeting, you would have seen for yourself what was going on. But I know the buzz was out there in the street. So either you either you didn't care it to the facts or just didn't give a damn. But now you're all about it.

When it's too late, you going to vote. We going to vote you out and all that. What you going to do? Vote somebody else in and not go to the me? Then you get mad when folk go to the me like myself and some others and hold them accountable when y'all sorry asses at the house. Then you mad with me. I've been going to the means holding them accountable. You stay mad with me. I don't care. I be all over the place. I don't just go to Rocky Mountain City Council Me. I go to all the me school board, uh, other towns in the county, out of the county, and until y'all start putting gas in my car, uh, money in my pocket, and food in my mouth, I don't think you can tell me what to do. Now this 63 year old grown ass man, you hear what I'm saying? Out here fighting for y'all ungrateful negro cuz I I don't even care what the white people are saying. This the special seeds. Like I said, all white people ain't the same. Um you talk about me. But one thing I do know and can say that in the last two years that audit report don't show anything in there about OIC nor Andre Knight. So why y'all stuck on stupid instead of trying to uh uh uh uh um try to support uh uh uh uh the city at

this moment until they get it back right? They they they they they told you yesterday that you can raise taxes, but that's a yearly thing. But the utilities, you can uh uh uh um increase or decrease it anytime. But y'all stuck on stupid. still listening to y'all heroes cuz actually it ought to been done before yesterday before but been distraction from those two two days before the LGC meets and then they do stupid stuff don't they don't act like LGC watching so I have come to the conclusion them want to see the city go down just like obviously Keith Rogers did and the same thing he was doing before he came here while he was here and somebody sent me a video today but he's still doing the same thing. So obviously y'all want to continue uh uh uh seeing the same thing happen just in a different fashion. So uh if y'all like it, I love it. But what I ain't going to do is just stop because y'all out here deflection, deflecting and distracting. Nah, ain't going to work with me. No sir, I'mma keep on putting the facts out there as has been presented, not my facts. Folks asking me about Andre Knight.

Don't ask me about what Andre about Andre Knight. You prove it. That's on y'all mind. Y'all prove it. Ask me uh to prove that he didn't do something ain't my damn problem. Like I said, it ain't in the audit. If it was in the audit, I'd be talking about it. But I ain't even talk about nothing that ain't in the audit cuz it's irrelevant. It just tickles the hell out of me. Negroes uh uh winning down black leadership when other folk don't do that. I just can't get over them folk coming from Nashville yesterday. The man stepped there and said that they don't have no other alternative but to get water and sewer from Rocky Mountain. Then you gonna come up and go against another municipality, a black man because he listening to TJ and Charles. We talking about grown ass folk. What kind of business is that? If you want, if you had a problem, you should have met with them offline. I don't get it. But that's where we at now. Everybody talking about some folk doing stuff because of Trump, but some folk doing stuff because of y'all heroes. So, continue. Like I said, I'm at the point now where hey, maybe LGC need to take over. Maybe you hit maybe you need to hit rock bottom so you can see how good you had it. Cuz I know where Rocky Mount came from. I was going to the meeting long before any of them on the council. I seen where Rocky M have come from.

So y'all just continue on. And y'all just talk. Y'all y'all y'all going to fix it out there on social media [snorts] and on these local TV stations. Y'all go right ahead. But when y'all finally figured out that, hey, it's the Rocky Mount City Council and the LGC. Yeah, the the the the ball is in their court. [snorts] So when y'all figure it out, the better off y'all will be. All right, this has been the DCN smoke. Let me get out of here. [snorts]
