Even with like a 50 millisecond delay, right? Yeah. So then you put that away and you're good to go. Put this away. Sharing, right? Okay. So then, well, you don't need to screen share anymore. Okay. Got it. So the the YouTube screen share, you don't have to do that. Yeah. So, as of right now, it's the only thing you have to do is start the stream on the computer, and then from there, you're done with with that with YouTube. Um, the rest of the switching and stuff all happens through the uh the little device. Okay. Well, let's Y
I'll works. Yeah, I'll change the thing around just to make sure. Let me one more wrinkle idea before All right. So, this is camera and PC. Here's camera only. It'll take a few seconds, but then it'll update. Yep. And then uh PC only. And then it'll take up full screen. You won't see the camera in it. Oh, I see. Yeah. Okay. And then camera on PC is what we were saying. Like I said, I'm not sure why that happened, but the manual mentioned that it could happen. So, I'm going to keep digging. See if there's a way to get around it. But
I mean, the verbage is pretty clear. [laughter] That's, you know, I'll take a video. Oh, well, that's the thing with videos. Like I'm an audio guy by trade and I've done a lot of lighting stuff, but video is the thing that I like I can do, but I really don't want to because it feels like I could do the same thing 10 times and like the exact same sequence and these 10 times or these eight times it will work or won't and then the last two for the exact for no reason. It'll just change if it works or not. Video's magic essentially. I Well, yeah. I I decided to stay in my lane.
Yeah, exactly. There's a little bit of like like I I'll happily build a video wall and like program it a little bit, but like as soon as it comes to like live broadcast stuff, I just I don't I don't know what to do with that, man. That's not right. [laughter] There's so much to it. I just like I want to mix my band. That being said, we did a couple festivals where we had they had a drum with a camera on it. They were filming that and like that was so cool. Video guys did a great job and I was very happy to be away from that watching [laughter]
double recursion. Well, it's a I think it's going to because you're on the same computer. If you're on different like monitors where you have like a second monitor that was that but um basically on from a different computer stream this go to webinar. It shouldn't have that recursion if you're not clicked on that tab.
But how would it show like if I was on my laptop show? Well, um, if you're on your laptop and from here this screen is on any other tab, it'll look exactly like the YouTube thing did. You'll they're will only see what's in this green box. So, uh, because that green box right now is displaying this page. That's why it's having that issue. Would I just share my screen? Uh, you shouldn't need to. Um, it's just because this one monitor is trying to mirror this image. Yeah. while also feeding it to itself. Okay. So, basically the answer is if you're on any other tab, it won't have that. This is the exact same thing as YouTube where if you're on any other tab, you won't have that recursion.
Yeah. Or if you open this exact meeting from another computer while you're on that that [clears throat] tab, they will see this with that camera. They'll see that exact same feed. The recursion is only happening because we're on the tab where it's happening. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So if you can view that go to meeting. Yeah. From a different computer preferably
but also if you have second monitor you're usually sitting up here right? Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. something that
um this is a very strong case study over Well, Yeah, I mean that's what we agreed upon. I think we just want to get you functional for now. So, thanks for the band. Absolutely. Well, it's a I don't see this as a band-aid as much is this is the way it's intended to work with the current setup, but the current setup isn't necessarily the most ideal situation, but for what I mean, it was installed in 2020, right?
I think it was later than that actually. Uh the the notes mentioned like May 2020 and then like it updated in like April 2021 or something like that. So but either way that's for what it was it was maybe updated. All these were before I got here. Yeah. Yeah. I remember when they were putting in the sound system. [laughter] Okay. Let's see what this looks like. Yeah.
So, we're getting some monitor shared that. Yeah. But if I go over there, hit like camera only. Okay, the recursion happen. I see.
Okay. Okay. Basically, as long as this screen doesn't show the feed, there'll be no recursion. Yeah. Okay. And um I don't know again what I don't know what exactly caused that to uh flip back to default, but I mean it was an easy fix. It l I can actually show you where it was if you want to try it again yourself. I don't want to touch it, but if I need to, you know, it's kind of an emergency situation thing. So on this little little device just bottom right there's this little uh settings cog. Um I went over to H2 and at the bottom there's output port
and then there's only the one output port and under source it was uh SDI which is input one just that's what it did as default. It needs to be channelled soda console which is the mix of the two. That makes sense. So that that was the only change I made and then I of course I disabled audio so it doesn't feed the HDMI audio. You can use the microphone audio stuff. That's perfect. It's as simple as that. So I can see. Yeah, please.
That that was all I had to change. Okay. And in theory, if that ever happens again, that's all you have to do. The problem is when it doesn't work, everyone's panic. Yeah. Yeah. And that's when you're not thinking just doesn't work for but I'm like okay I think last time I said yeah I mean just yeah we'll get there I need you I need you to be calm so I can be calm so that was that was all I had to change and that's pretty easy fix if it happens again you can fix it.
Yeah you can call us and we'll take care of it but if it's like last minute hey everyone's freaking out they can follow through that. Okay. All right. Well, that and then I guess the next steps is let's blow this thing up and start over. And then uh I did uh start and stop the stream a couple times, so there's probably a couple listed or unlisted videos of me fiddling around. It's good to hear. [laughter] Okay. In session. So, you're gonna start over. Is that what you just said? Oh, no. I mean like the whole system I'm talking about. Oh, no. you're if you're comfortable with it, that's fine. Yeah,
there's a lot of good budget options for doing this exact thing in a really clean way. And that's kind of what since I've been working with this company, that's been most of what I've done is school theaters and broadcast systems like this. There's there's a lot of really good options. Uh I mean, even different companies I work for, the just controlling everything from a stream deck with just a bunch of little hotkeys in front that say exactly what they do. That's kind of what he's been saying to me all along is I just want to push a button and have it all start. Yeah, I mean there's there's a lot of options to make it just that easy. Okay. Any idea what that system might have cost? I have no idea. I actually I very intentionally stay out of all of the price stuff. That's fair. The less I know the better. But yeah,
Brian Brian be able to help you with that. Yeah, of course. That's on our list. [snorts] Okay. Sweet. All right, sounds good to me. Thank you guys. I'm glad we got it going. Yeah, thank you. All right, can sleep better at night now. I wasn't this this I wasn't Well, at the end of the day, there's no statutory reason for us to stream these. We're going to sneak things in. That's the best time to deal with [laughter] microphones are off, right?
Well, if anything else goes wrong, Brian's your contact. Um, now that I kind of know the system, I'll probably be the one to come out again, but if I'm not available. All right. Thank you. Okay. Well, we got some function kind of Yeah. where you need to be for now because yeah, it's five years five or six years old. I thought it was I thought it was Yeah, I made it because we must have upgraded the system before because we were doing YouTube streams. I went back and saw the meeting that was in 2016. So that must Yeah, I must have had a different system. I don't remember if you were
I remember setting you up. Yeah. No, I mean it was summer of 2021. That's when you were hired. Yeah, that's when I was hired. Yeah. So this I'm like, well, how was it set up? I was like, I I don't know, right? I was on the tail end of it and I just told you what that guy said to me. Get out. Get away from me. I don't care. Yeah, he well he doesn't work for that's well maybe that's for the fast he wasn't very pleasant well and that's honestly one of the things that that I wanted to push like the guy that did it left we have an IT person now I don't know really how this functions so we don't have time to do it and it's been a couple
