City Council - Special Meeting

All right, so I guess nobody else.

But you'll join us in person. And on the 3rd. We're going to bring this meeting to order at 631, but let us pledge.

Sorry to interrupt the meeting. Kid, this is going to be our new interim city manager. He's the county commissioner. Sorry.

It's fabulous. All right. So we have Council Hill Grant and Councilor Wilkins. Drew had excused. Otherwise, we have a quorum. So we're going to move right into the action item, which is the approval of the interim city manager contract. Did everybody get a chance to read it? It was nice and easy, but thorough.

Madam Mayor, shall I? Please. I move to approve. the contract with our interim city manager. Don't have a whole lot of details here, but with everything that's written.

I read through it. Second. Motion from Councillor Matkin and second from Councillor Peterson. Any questions, comments, discussion? All those in favour? Aye. Motion passes. Woohoo!

18. Let me ask you a question.

Yay. And we'll just go straight into city council and comments. And I'll begin with you, Councilman.

I took a look at our Friday night plans. We don't have a table for the park yet. And according to the rules, we can't do any politicking there. We aren't supposed to talk about this or anything else. So at the next meeting, we need to regroup and come up with a plan.

What are we doing across the street?

Well, that's what we need to talk about. Apparently, we won't be able to even talk in the park. But whose rules? Our ordinance or the seal sent us an email with the permit form. And there are rules attached to it. And it's pretty clear. No politicking. Nothing connected. Let me ask this.

Well, maybe Rocio should address it.

It's a DCDA form. It's not. It's a DCDA. Thank you. It's a DCDA rule. It's written. Part of that email.

I think Jeremy has something.

I have very busy actions. We're not going to be doing any politicking. We're going to be doing educating. And I had personally spoken with Judy Derard about this. She handed me a sign-up form and encouraged us to complete these purposes.

OK. I would also like to point out, we are nonpartisan positions. We are not politicking in the traditional politicking sense. We are talking to our constituents about the levy.

Plain and simple. It's our job. But we have made special arrangements.

I think what they mean is they don't want the Republicans and the Democrats and the Independents and those.

Mayor, I don't see this as any different from when we had for the transportation system plan. Yeah.

Parks, all those things. It's just education.

Well, I'm glad you brought that up. Perfection.

There's an elephant. It's very clearly worded. So the fact that we've already talked in eight arrangements is a good thing.

Hot diggity dog. All right. Anything else? That's it for me. Well, I would like to officially on the record say the fireworks show was fabulous. And the mayor from McMinnville was even here.

No, not at the time. We were both standing in the ice cream line. No autographs at that time. So, but it was fabulous. A lot of people here. It was just a very exciting sort of culture out there when everybody was out there. It was so, so nice. There wasn't a negative bone in the body anywhere. It was fabulous. So anyways, thank you, thank you, especially Kristen.

So that's all I have for you. I agree. Chris, just was a beautiful night. It's a bright night. It's really great. The park just had such nice energy. Of course, the band was great. It was really fun. I don't think I have anything. Just want to say, Gretchen, welcome, welcome, welcome. I'm really excited to get to work with you. So thank you for being here and for being enthusiastic because we'll feed off of that. So thank you.

All I got is just a thank you to the city staff again and Public Works for helping me out over the weekend. Great job. I heard there was some interesting developments that happened in the park, but it was quickly resolved. So good job there. You know, part of our work was kind of helping the situation. Yeah. So, and other than that, 4th of July went off really well, 3rd of July.

Was it the outfall situation?

No, there was a couple other little things that was involved quickly. Yeah, I saw you there. So that was fantastic. And then just, well, we're excited. Excellent. Counselor Hubbard.

Is this your last meeting or we're going to see you on Monday?
