City Council - Regular Meeting

Good morning, everyone. Good morning, candidates. Hi, my name is Rebecca Werthe. I'm the city secretary and I will be conducting today's drawing to determine the order in which candidates names will appear on the ballot. And that's for the November 3rd, 2026 general election. Two members of my team are assisting me today, Assistant City Secretary Stephanie Box and Senior Management Assistant Sarah Brunkenhofer. So the drawing will be conducted for the offices of mayor, at-large council member, and council member districts one through five. So I'm gonna briefly explain the process we'll use today. When each of you filed your candidate application, we recorded the date and time of your filing. I'll ask each of you to come up and draw based on your filing date and time. You can draw for yourself, ask a representative to draw for you, or have a member of my staff draw for you. For those unable to attend, the drawing will be streamed on the city's YouTube channel. So the drawing method we use is a wooden box with numbered beads. And the beads are placed in the box and thoroughly mixed. I'll call the candidates up one at a time to draw a bead without looking into the box. It's important. The number drawn will... the number drawn will determine the ballot order for the candidates names in the race. And as you know, that's our famous recount box. I don't know if y'all, uh, but this is the one it's history. So y'all are going to touch history here. Uh, so let's go ahead and start. We'll start with the office of mayor. So the first person to draw would be Paulette. And she is sending a representative today. Number three. All right. Okay, next is David Ainsworth, Sr. There you are. I know, put it high, get on your tiptoes. There you go, two. So he drew two. Next, we have Chalice Hyatt. There you are. OK, she drew number five. Next is John Calcusick.
