Town Council - Regular Meeting

Next up, Now I'm purging. council member and commission Every Great. Council meeting November. They should have a presentation for us. That's it. Pretty easy. Parks and direct items. We still have two openings for the parks and advisory commission. on Tuesday

Thank you. Public works for the list that I have here. Start off with infrastructure [Music] repair. the wastewater treatment plant installed on new piping feed systems and continue support and operational repairs at the park. In terms of general services, we have advanced support system events relocation of the memorial can provide a general beach and property maintenance. Moving on to streets, we have number one cleaning and location for drainage and flood prevention. Uh build holes throughout town, tree work and storm clean up and respond to multiple emergency tree incidents and roadways to reopen access. That's all I have to say. Thank you. The Colonial Beach Police Department wants to announce that 6 p.m. September 25th there'll be a post neighborhood watch meeting police station in the community room. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend and we have some new officers joining us. So uh planning community development the commission met on September 11th. Uh there were two new appointments by

council main terms. Um interested citizens are asked to be online advocate. You want to get your hands dirty and I remind all the folks who are out in the audience. It's a good way to help positively impact members of the planning commission have to be reserved. Following the public hearing at the September 11th meeting, the planning commission voted the meeting recommend approval for This will be brought to work. The commission also staff amendments previous on these amendments. The amendments do roll back some regulations. They also reduce parking per use. an expanded territory. Um, our in planning and community development director Woods, one single family, one addition and one permit. The average number of staff days is per minute 13 days. That is literally half of what it used to be. Uh the code compliance officer received 14 complaints in July and August and has issued 12 notices of violation. Two of those were found to be unwarranted and the others were resolved. So again, good progress in

that regard. The plan community development office has been tasked with processing lease agreements with guidance from the assistant town manager of the town. And as a reminder, the planning community development office is open to the public. All right,

numbers to talk about tonight. First up is the 12th annual Alexander Red Hurricane that's coming on Saturday. It'll be on all the proceeds from this event. So, please [Music] $35. They're looking for sponsors as well. $100 is a sponsorship for preliminary matches and the championship match sponsor. So, look in your hearts and see if you can come up back that would be a great help and also again all this money and food and 5050 all next up CDBA. This is the walk to end Alzheimer's special that's what I lost my mother to some almost 20 years ago. There are three upcoming events related to that. This weekend the 20th bizarre yard sale indoors at Saturday morning indoors at the community center. So support that if you can get that Saturday center. Uh this one is is impressive what I got earlier. October 7th for the entire day are donating 20% of their money each% of their that's that's a significant mark here shows [Music] and Americ

So Gy and Barry continue to advocate for and educate the raptors to capture imagination every spring summer. They are going to have boos at the Ster Paul wine wine ster wine festival this weekend. And then again at the Monarch Island there last music adventuring band around art scavenger hunt again this year. It'll be on October 19th as well. All support scholarship.

I think we um not too much going on. Um I did miss the last school board meeting but I did attend the collaborative meeting between the town and this um school staff and school board members um that Dr. a presentation. So, I'll let him take that. But just for people that may not be aware, um the school members of the school and also members of town staff like Natasha, assistant town and myself and there is a good way for the town to collaborate with the schools and kind of learn more about what's going on with them and what you know what they need from us. So, it's it's overall it's a good thing. That's all I got. Thank you.

Thank you. You did great in there. Um, okay. For administration and mayor, I just want to give a big shout out to all the volunteers and organizers beach music festival this last weekend. Um, now a two-day event to get people to stay vacation. um the weekend here and it really um was fantastic. I thought well attended and of course we had perfect weather so that was great as well. Um there the town of Plane Beach will be hosting com this quarter. So that is scheduled for September 25th at the ice house and it's 8:30 a.m. So it's a get your coffee kind of thing. Um and we will have several presentations for the base and the new base commander um commander nater and uh this time I will be presenting on economic development on the tim grant and also on the marina way initiative and there will be a presentation on healing waters which is a initiative through the commander of the American Legion to take veterans fly fishing and learn how to fly fishing is really amazing this year in town. So we'll have some global representation at that. Um I want to give some kudos and shout out to the newsletter all the people that I think every department has just such great information on our newsletter. I got some compliments on it very this weekend from unsolicited um from residents who are here full-time and residents who are here part time. Just really appreciate information that newsletter um that they get. So, we just wanted to share that with staff and with the public. [Music]
