Legislative Committee - Regular Meeting

to legislative yes sir I was not comme everybody on I just help welfare that was it today's February 24th it's 602 p.m. this is a meeting with the of the legislative and government Relations Committee um here at secap um everybody everybody's [Music] here next on the agenda is approval of the agenda entertain a motion to approve the agenda we have any extra copies oh here's s i I approve it by the way who's going to take notes I'll second sign in who doesn't take minutes for another meeting I take them for two I take them for three so who wants to be take notes would you Roger I'll try okay all right so Roger made the motion Tim seconded all in favor of approval of the agenda I I public comments we have no public approval of the minutes from the previous meeting dated August 8th been some time ago been half some some time

technically Roger and Roseanne were the only two that's on this meeting that has been so we need to be the ones to make the motion technically y'all need to make the motion because y'all two are the only ones I was absent that day and so was ly and Dwight and Tim were not on the committee that during that time so technically y'all two would need to make the Motions I'll make the motion to approve the minutes um before I second it um the only thing I want to give an update on is the unfinished business the second item we forwarded that and it just hasn't been acted on you know but this is August you know so that's we might need to remind the uh mayor's office uh about this was passed and went forward to them to go to the full commission to be put on the agenda so I second the the okay I just want y aware of it it's uh second item of Unfinished Business there was an amending of the it says here the amend it was amended uh policy and procedures committee to amend the Coffee County Commission procedural rules I don't know what those those I don't know what those rule changes were I don't um it is uh that thing I gave y'all it'll be the uh at the top of the page it says

unfinished business item number two let's see if I got a copy for you here see where I'm looking at right here uh well if you flip on back and this one container containment yes yeah if you'll flip back at the top left stapled area take it from the back it'll have UB item two those are oh so these were the sections that were amended those right that's what we approved we can get with uh we can get with the mayor's office to see where that's standing right you know A lot's happened since August so I can understand why it got okay set to the side so Roseanne made the motion can I second it Roger seconded all in favor of the approving the minutes from the August 8th 2024 all in favor I I I guess Roger already covered unfinished business yeah okay election of committee officer committee chairman I'll take nominations how about Frank I would you like to nominate Frank sure how I know that was coming why not

make motion I'll make a motion he made the motion made it okay I'll second it okay okay any other nominations and there be n acclamation well no other nominations guess it would be unanimous by consent but y'all vote on it just to be sure all in favor all right um secretary or vice chair who would want to be Vice chair does anybody want to volunteer to be Vice chair I'd like to nominate Tim Brown to be Vice chair do you do you accept do you mind do you mind I guess I can do it my first meeting but I'll try I'm sure y'all help me out we will do we have any other nominations for vice chair with having no other nominations uh I guess we can do this by consent but everybody agree vote for Tim Brown for vice chair I there we go and did you agree to do secretary oh that' be fine all right he's a good look secretary there it is so Roger a secretary all right now we got all right so the next item uh on our agenda is

review the adjustment to the policy and procedures separation policy uh it should all be in your packet um apparently there used to be in here that said um uh if it's like mine it's on the second page that was highlighted it's kind of grayed out uh but it's if an employee separates within two years of receiving training SL certification that costs 500 or more the employee will be um the employee will have a certain percentage deducted from his or her V final uh paycheck based on the following schedule um the way I'm taking the way this says it used to be $2,000 but I think it's but we had problems because uh the animal control people didn't need $2,000 sure so that that excluded them basically so we lowered it to 500 so so make it equal right so 500 or more then you would be responsible for the payback of the uh as per the schedule uh six month to the date of completion 75% uh one year 50% two years 25% and after two years no obligation to pay it back I'm good with it anybody have any problems with it good with that entertain a motion to pass it on to the full commission I'll second Dwight made the motion Rosanne seconded all in favor of foring this to the full commission all right

all right any announcements any no no okay next meeting I pull up a calendar is six o'clock still good for everybody mhm okay that would be is it the March 24th I got it say it I will be out of town but y'all don't have to have me for the meeting I have to be on a Monday does it I'll be out of town Monday that whole week oh okay okay so about 17th I can do that I can do that okay yeah or the 31 either way what's best for you the 31st might give us one more day to um I mean one more two weeks two more weeks yeah to after come up with an agenda well after the Comm full full commission in case they get anything that we need to do we we think that's coming from the investment committee right we we see I mean that should be on our radar sure yeah that should be something coming down the pipe that might just give us a two more U I know there's the Planning Commission meeting that's coming up I don't know if that'll come to us before full legislative body or not um over the moratorium and that kind of thing

so so we now 31st so we'll set it for March 3 March 31st at 6 o'clock okay if nothing else motion to adjourn I'll make a motion to adjourn a second all right
