All right, Andy. You need a motion to approve the minutes from the year end. I second. I'll make a motion. I second. I'll get the papers to you. Okay.
All right. board appointment. We do have
uh this last month we had our well and pump performance test done. Um as in the years past, they're down a little bit, but from my understanding with the droughts and stuff we've been under, that's kind of to be expected. They're still not they're not in dire kind of Tony said they're still pretty good really. But if you can read down there, there are a couple of them that they do suggest that we start looking at budgeting replacing the future. They're not suggesting we need them like next year, but there, you know, just start thinking about them now. Replacing the pump or the well?
In the well, right on the back. I see it. Yeah, I have like a whole report that's just the front of it kind of detailing what it said. All right. We do that annually. Yeah, we have an annual report. You have anything else? Uh, that's the only thing on the agenda. We haven't done any snow removal since uh No, we threw down salt last Sunday morning
15 calls for service, six traffic contacts, there's one check, two assisting agency, two ordinance violation notices were sent out and two animal complaints. is we did receive the fire contract for 2026. They the trustee and her board have already approved it and signed it. You guys just need to approve it and sign it. Nothing changed in it. It's the exact same contract we've had the last couple of years. You want to make a motion, Andy?
I'll make a motion. There's two. And then the other is we need we need had to make an ordinance for an amendment on our salary ordinance because our salary ordinance was done before Jerry retired and it was done with his figures for a salary and with the changes that were made we had to do an amendment to the ordinance. So I do have ordinance number 2026-1 which is amending the ordinance for the salary for the utility superintendent and the assistant utility superend.
Do you make a motion? I'll make a motion to accept the ordinance. It's 2601 2601. The one is 2025. You'reing 2025-6. Okay. 25-6. Okay.
That's all I have other than I'm working on. That's always It's old business now. You know, Ann retired and I need you to make a motion on the new attorney. Okay. What's her first name? Kendra. I'll make a motion that we hire
Yes. Yes. And she'll have a contract too, Andy. But we don't have that yet. Okay. All right. New business EDC annual contract. I think that's why you all are here. So Andy, we got an invoice. Just so you know, the invoice is $7,79 is what they're asking. What's your thoughts?
What did we do? What did we do last year? something about I think we did 5k and then we would have you about anything? I have not. Let's let's go ahead and table it until maybe the next meeting and when we're all three, we can make a decision because I remember Brent saying something about he okay to five grand but he wasn't too happy and he he was we were ask
we have to look back at the minutes but we got a new director now Okay. You know, so they're moving in the right direction. Kindle. Okay. Kindall, our representative is also here. Well, if you're okay with it, you know, you know, I just want a little bang for my buck. Yeah. They're they're well aware. Okay. He's going to talk. I'm gonna give him the floor to talk. Okay.
Good evening. This is James Wells with the Carol County EDC. Um, and this is what in October presented to the Camden Town Council about the annual update of what the EDC was up to. Um and so based off our contract that we have with the town of Camden, um we work on the broadband expansion and child care initiatives uh that benefits uh certainly town as well as we're helping to improve the access to urgent quality health care throughout the county as well. And so we're going to continue to work on those priorities throughout this calendar year as well. Have we had any movement on the industrial heard anything about that one? I did want to add that we also provided a $10,000 grant to his last year that we did that for his building. It was a matching grant for one of the projects that was involved with the construction of his building. I guess
for a while you I met him once at a different project. Yes. All right. So, what are you thinking, Andy?
Like I said, let's step it up. Okay. So you put that in the motion form. Yeah. I'll make a motion that we give the CDC their fee $7,79. There you go. Second. I think we would like to get someone on the books to meet up and figure out what the priorities are and how we can better suit those priorities too. So I think that would be a good idea, Andy, if we just met with them as a discuss
discuss what they can do and can't do and what the office Yeah, because like in the past, you know, we see them one time a year, they come, you know, with their hat and their hand money and then you don't hear nothing until the money runs out another. So, yeah, you know, well, I think things are moving in the right direction now. Okay. Okay, sounds good. And they're well aware, so Okay, appreciate it. We'll set up some great weather.
Maybe place coffee and sit and talk or something. Perfect. Yes. Thank you. Yes. We've had complaints on the Grimes property and Jill's been working on that and has a commitment by the owner to clean it up. Okay. to make standards and then we'll have since we have a lawyer now to turn property over to her and let her file file. Okay,
we've messed around with him long enough he's in violation of our ordinance. I did uh just so you know, we did have neighbors complaining, you know, with the high winds and the trash that was blown. And it's it's terrible that they have to go through something like that. But, you know, it's just the wheels of justice. You know, she's promised to get a dumpster in there and get that truck licensed or whatever and not use it as a a dumpster. Okay. So, she's aware of it and she's cooperating. So, okay.
I thought Linda Johnson would be here tonight. She said she would, but obviously Yeah. And they've had colds, I guess. I've never never met her just through text. Okay. Well, let her know I have I've told her I've told her, Jill, the marshall's working on it. She seems utility request public comments.
I'm just curious what is the 10,000 that was given to Neil. What is he using that for? That I don't know what that particular I know he's doing. the old building, but what is he doing to it? My understanding is his vision is a community not really center but a community learning space something along the lines of what do they call it not innovation so anyone can come in use the space like a co-op type still under construction he's got one
he's got all the IT stuff and he's going to put
his goal is to put towers triangers can use the signal and also he's been working on fiber optic and working with those folks. He's had a lot of Purdue people, a lot of foreign foreign people that several groups have come through visited and he's several youth in the town here for him and he's paying for their trips like Ireland and different places. I can't answer exactly how that he did the facade up here. If you haven't noticed as a nonprofit for that project and I talked to him about things that would require more. But I do encoumber bought it off the chamber.
Yes, they got it. But it's at one time there was a ballroom up there and he's restoring it.
You guys went to meet was asking you about your project. Okay. Her question was the EDC giving you money. Yeah. They gave us $10,000 for whatever reason.
Yeah. We're going to try to get the first days access. So we'll have a computer very powerful super computer. probably $25,000. So, it's going to be
So, is this kind of like what they have there in Lafayette? Um Oh, Matchbox. Yeah. Kind of like Is that your vision? So, it's going to be something like Matchbox. Like Matchbox, but just more community. Okay. Matchbox, right? Mostly people like and this is really
okay this town many of them are really strong
and it's been really fun but really open too I'm actually going to London next week because some of the people castles are uses work later. We're going to bring people over here. teach. So, it's it's a big project. It's probably $2 million when I get done with it.
So, but it's fun. I'll gladly give the building to anybody who wants it like it's been a fun journey. So, all the world We've had visitors from 20 countries come influencers athletes members truck driver but the reason I came to the meeting is we've been made aware of team local grants for $50,000 and would like to request support. I know it's like only 50,000 but that would go a long way to continue.
So when you say support monetary just just a letter of just support their team at this point. So what's the deadline? It's the end of March. March.
Oh, that would be wonderful. I have lots of friends. So, we're going to get some pretty infrastructure resources to a small can really become accessible to kids and make the better.
If you could drop us an email or whatever terminology, what you want to call the building. Sure. Outline what we're going for that be awesome. So we're all on the same page. I think that Yeah.
Well, they have they have different they have every three months they have a application window. to try to get it done by December 31st, but we just I think it'd be good if you when it warms up a little bit, set it up so you can do whatever people come to see what you're doing. Absolutely. You've taken me through that. I'd like to see it again since you've done a lot of work. Yeah. Yeah. Keeps going. It's definitely not an economically positive project, but the rest of my family, that's all right. That's part of
Thank you guys. I'll go sit down. Okay, Andy, you have any council comments?
Yeah, the bus doesn't stop at the high He stops or she stops on the side down by your house and down by Bobby's house and it don't stop in the highway. So the people coming down the highway aren't slowed down or nothing. And now the kids have to cross, you know, the highway to get back to the bus stop at your house. And then they got to cross the highway to get to the bus stop at Bonnie's house. And traffic. So if she gets around,
is there a reason? Yeah. Yeah. I'll say something to Laura Stiger, too. She's over the bus. Andy, is it a Carol bus or bus? The ter bus don't even stop anymore up here. Yeah, it's the deli bus. The deli bus stops back at your house and picks up kids and it stops here, but it don't stop anywhere on the highway.
And so when the trucks cross the railroad tracks, it's just so they get to the pizza, you know, I'm thinking Carol said their route up to where kids have to get on they have like their house they have where the door is on that side that's changed how explained that to me was I said main street well it's still a safe
I They fix that because the bus don't stop at the bus stop at Bobby's house. She pulls up there facing the highway and fix the kids up. Gotcha. But my grandkids have to walk down in the pizza and then cross the street with no kind of nothing. And then there's two little twin boys that lives where used to live and they got across the highway in the dark. So, and then the kids at cross the highway to go back to Mark's house.
Who uh who did you speak who did you speak with at the school? Was it Laura? I think Yeah, I think it was Laura. Yeah. All right. Whoever might have been Laura's assistant, it was Laura said it was the new state. That wouldn't be allowed. I'm at the schools several times a week, so I'll say something to Okay, I appreciate that. I'll see what's what the reasoning is. Okay. But it's I don't agree with them that Main Street is not a state highway. It's still a state highway.
The state if the state They maintain it. If they maintain and they plow it, it's state. Well, it's the states until they have to maintain it. I mean, sidewalks and trees needs cut down and seems to be ours. I know. We've been through that before. Yeah. So, but I mean, as far as the road goes, it absolutely under their jurisdiction. Yeah. I don't know if I can do anything, but I'll talk to her. Okay, I appreciate it. Anything else?
Then our next meeting will be February 11th. I need a motion to adjourn. I'll make a motion to second. Thank you everybody for getting out on a cold evening. You made a trip I think travel not too far. Where you? Oh, that's not bad.
