Start free trial127 Mt Auburn Street / 17 Story Street – BZA Variance Request
The Applicant is requesting a BZA variance to reduce the front yard setbacks along Mt. Auburn and Story Street for a project involving the proposed movement and preservation of the historic Harriet Jacobs house and the construction of a hotel. They propose to increase the commercial side setback on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor of the building. Applications for a variance for any project within the Harvard Square Overlay District require review and comment by the Harvard Square Advisory Committee. HSAC will review the application and prepare a recommendation to be submitted to the BZA ahead of their scheduled 9/24/2026 meeting. Art. 5.000, Sec. 5.311 (Table of Dimensional Requirements). Art. 10.000, Sec. 10.30 (Variance).
Annual Chair Election
“On an annual basis at the first meeting in September, the Harvard Square Advisory Committee will elect a Chair who may serve no more than two (2) years as chair within a three (3) year period.”
