e e e [Music] I'd like to call the order the city of camel Planning Commission regular meeting for Tuesday January 24th 2025 and Mr secretary you take take rooll please commissioner Vander Mulan presid commissioner Murphy here commissioner Davidson here Vice chair Lon here chair edel here then we're going to have the [Music] flag pledge

allegiance the next item on tonight's agenda is the consent calendar uh is there any discussion on that or we'll entertain a motion to approve the second it's been moved by commissioner Murphy and I think commissioner lon's me second thee of reverly so please vote Yes yes I'll obain as I was absent for that meeting section is there anybody tonight that would like to speak on a non-agenda [Music] item seeing none we'll close that public comment section and then we go into the discussion items staff introductions uh Mr MO is are we going to okay great thank you hi my name is [Music] m hi my name is Melissa um I've met all of you before some when I was a planning technician when I first started here I'm now an associate planner uh and I look forward to continue working with you all thank [Music] you evening uh my name is Karina Gomez and it is my first time here I am new to my position I'm a code compliance

technician but I have been with the city of Camaro for about 17 and a half years I was previously with finance and the utilities division so I am proud to now be with her compliance it's it's been great and I'm looking forward to um all that is to come in the new division thank you that's great welcome to the planning department welcome welcome goodar evening Commissioners my name is Sean Kika previously I was the admin specialist for Community Development and as of eight days ago I am now the assistant planner so looking forward to working with you all in this new capacity thank you Sean good evening Commissioners um my name is Megan Cula I am a senior planner I began here in October and I came from West Lake Village before that the coastal commission so very excited to be part of the planning team and excited to bring some projects forward for your consideration s hello my name is Serena Gonzalez um I am an associate planner um with the planning Division and I was in Oxnard previously I'm excited to work with all of you welcome good evening my name is Genesis bushard and I'm the admin specialist for the Community Development Department so my second meeting and I'm uh happy to see you all again and happy New Year thank you hi I'm not new but just wanted to yeah say we're looking forward to uh the brand new year and we have I think a lot

of interesting projects that um we foresee coming to you in in the future just everybody from the staff oh that's great yeah thanks for coming out tonight appreciate it's good to see who's working behind the scene we see some of you at the meetings but not all of you thank you very much oh yeah we can Janessa I'm sorry do we get our emails from hi Commissioners I'm Jessica teres I'm the management assistant for Comm development and I've been here for eight years and I'm going to be training Genesis so you'll see me for a few meetings thank you so is that everybody that's going to introduce because we know you David and what's that okay great I'm sorry for cutting you off there Janessa okay so then uh I think commissioner Leo has a presentation well I I have the honor of presenting chair edil with a special plaque and appreciation for his service um I few notes Here uh so commissioner edel has served as a planning commissioner for 24 years as council member hild's appointee all while running his law practice and serving in other public service rules thank you chair edil once again for serving as chair and leading and managing the commission's meeting means you've always shown such facility in moving us through the agenda and ensuring adherence to the rules and we've had a number of diverse project matters come before the commission some of the applications and proposals have included just to to go down memory lane

a little bit the north specific plan Amendment for the auto dealer and Industrial project a specific plan Amendment a village at the park and zone change for the Starbucks proposal and managing applications for off-site sales of alcohol and gas stations and no matter the issue that's coming come before the commission you've consistently ensured that all the Commissioners have the opportunity to speak and you've encouraged thoughtful and full discussion before decision making and you've also very respectfully invited and accepted comments from members of the public and I also want to personally thank you for supporting me and extending your friendship as one of the two newest public Commissioners thank you very much thank you it's been my pleasure to serve and so it would be kind of nice to rotate off the spot here you know but thank you very much thank you okay so now we move to the reorganization of the Planning Commission and my understanding of the bylaws tonight we're going to select the chair and and vice chair and then the selection of the Architectural Review Committee happens next week with the new chairman is that correct yes that's correct so we we do have our our new bylaw so it's a little bit different than we've done in the past um the the new planning chair uh or Planning Commission chair and vice chair will actually take office the next meeting which will be in February um and then at that point the new chair will be able to appoint their Architectural Review Committee members at that time um for the nominations the the chair will open up for nominations and anyone in the Planning Commission um Can nominate someone there does not need to be a second so we're just going to um put out

nominations and then to close the nominations it'll have to be a motion and um uh and vote it on to close the nominations then if we have one person will still hold the election um and since we don't have our little green lights we're going to have to do it by roll call um and then uh if there's two we just kind of go down the list until we exhaust the list and the the person that has the highest number of of votes will assume the uh the Planning Commission chair at the next meeting like I said and then we're going to go through the exact same process for the vice chair yeah because in the past uh we would switch chairs right on the spot when we did it and I guess the the chair is going to assume the duties at the next meeting so I get to finish out tonight's meeting so anyway with that uh we'll open the nomination for the selection of the next chair do we have any nominations I'd like to nominate Vice chair Lon or position of chair any other nominations then I'll entertain a a motion to close the nominations so motion moved a second seconded by commissioner Vander Mullan and so we vote on this motion to close the nomination so please vote commissioner v v m yes commissioner Murphy yes commissioner Davidson yes Vice Jon yes edel yes so then does that do it or do we do we also vote no that'll that'll um the elections or the the the motion to close has been done and now we do the election yeah okay so now we're voting for uh commissioner lone to be the new commissioner or the new chairman I'm sorry commissioner

vandan yes commissioner Murphy yes commissioner Davidson yes Vice chair Lon chair edel yes okay so congratulations do what you have to look forward to framing okay so then uh we're going to open the nominations for vice chair is there a nomination for Vice sure um I'll nominate U commissioner Davidson any other nominations for vice chair D I'll entertain a motion to close the nomination for vice chair on second who who Moved oh you you moved okay and commissioner Mo second so please vote on the closing of the nominations commissioner Vander yes commissioner Murphy yes commissioner Davidson yes Vice chair yes chairel yes okay oh then so now we uh vote on it the vote on the nominee commissioner Davidson to become Vice chair yes so yes okay are we making a motion or no we made the motion to close now we now we vote on it V yes commissioner Murphy yes commissioner Davidson sure Vice chair Leon yes congratulations thank you Davidson as Vice chair so like we said on the the architectural committee that'll be the meeting you conduct next next meeting and then we move into director's report oh I'm sorry two David isra faves

great thank you very much and any commissioner comments tonight start down at this end uh commissioner vender thank you for your uh your nomination I appreciate that I look forward to um helping in whatever we way I can in in a new role and uh Happy New Year to everyone um you know with all the public here it's great to see you um and I look forward to working with all of you thank you also grateful for the nomination and all of your votes to serve as chair uh for this next year it's uh been quite an experience and I've enjoyed serving so far thank you again Cher edil for your leadership and your guidance and to all of the staff for all of your hard work and your professionalism and your your constant assistance and ensuring that we have all the information required and really understand the matters before us before we we vote thank you about commissioner Ben well I also want to thank our staff that's always so helpful and gets everything prepared for us and I'm looking forward to another year and working with the wonderful staff here are all of our supervisors and learning from everybody and um just really enjoying it so thank youy yes I really appreciate the staff here too very very helpful and and um I want to thank uh EX [Music] chairel for the great year that that we've had I really like the way you um lead us through this whole process process you have a um you have a way of speaking that puts people at ease whether it's your fellow Commissioners or staff or the people coming up to the podium um you you do so in a in a very disarming way I I can't think of another

word for it but uh you also have a great sense of humor and and that also lightens um the the tenor of of our meetings and I really appreciate that about you so thank thank you for leading us through that and thank you and incoming chair lemon um I very much look forward looking forward to this year um with your leadership you shown that you can do a very very good job in the couple times that you filled in for Dave um you almost did too good I I wouldn't mind if you made a mistake every now and then so if if you want to try to do that on on purpose a few times that would be just fine with me but welcome I look forward to this year thank you thanks for the staff for being here and all the work you do during the year and I the pleasure of serving as chairman with the fellow Commissioners and congratulate you you well as chairman and Mr Davidson as Vice chairman for this coming year anyway thanks everybody and I think we're adjourned then right h
