smell of the house. Yeah, that's supposed to I think 18 was saying it's supposed to get up in
Okay, we'll go ahead and open this meeting. Uh it's the Burlington Town Council meeting November 11th, 2025. Uh those present on the council is Jim, myself, Kevin Hammond, Karen Dinger is the town clerk. Um, first of all, I would like to say happy Veterans Day to everyone here and watching. Thank you for your service for the past and current members. I appreciate everything you have done for us and the United States of America. So, thank you. First will be the approval of minutes. All approved matters from October 14th.
Second that motion. All those in favor say I.
I. I. Motion carries. that up. Uh payment of claims. You added anything?
Council went through yesterday. And then we'll finish off. So, you got your two new tires.
Yep. I put two plugs in one of those tires and still leaking. So, just got some tire. I just got two. So, back too bad. You ever look in the fing I think Courtell they did they did a motor for me one time. which obviously that's not that issue anymore, but they painted if you got to take them off or that's what some places complain stuff you put in there.
You basically just scrap it and start. I'll make a motion to pay the bills for the town and the sewage. I'll second that motion. All those in favor say I. I. I.
Motion carries. could be the town Marshall report. I was having some trouble getting things off the new system. I think he had contact with that. attaching that.
Yeah, I do that. I'll make a motion to accept. I'll second that motion. All those in favor say I. I. I. Steve, you're up. Not a whole lot. been picking up these when I can and done a little snow removal the other night or early morning I guess. Other than that, not too much. I got some calcium chloride. We've got it ordered for that barrier down there so it don't freeze. That's supposed to be in here next couple days. So, yeah, we should be good to make it through these two days. Yeah. Yeah. I just don't want to pop it.
Okay. No sewage problems? No. No. Pump's been working good. That's what I was concerned about. That heat that's got a heater in that one down there. Keep things warm. It's nice and warm in there. Really? Yeah. Kind of surprised. Everything's working good. I did have Sky come out. I had some lights on down there to melt those pumps, but it was just a glitch is all. We fixed that. No problem. Other than that, it's been working good.
Excellent. fly through this. Uh I guess next order is new business. Uh it would be EDC is that just for the appointment, right? Whatever you guys wanted to do. Okay. Yeah. I'm requesting you reappoint me for the next three years. Can we make it 20? I I would love to make it that long. I'm not sure the old body will last that long.
I'll make a motion to appoint Key Schultz to the town board's EDC representative until what would it be? 20. It's three years. So, it's 26 27 and 28 until the end of 28. Yeah. I will second that motion. All those in favor say I. I. I. Motion carries. Thanks very much for everything you do. Like I said, every time anybody says anything, it's nothing but positive, but I try to do my best. Well, we appreciate it. Thank you.
Uh, next is the 2025 payroll allowance docket for September. Wow. Zach worked several days. Yeah, we done some more pre trim, too.
That work good. Yeah, that's all works great. It's good. I'll make a wish we pay or sign it and approve the stuff. I'll second it. All those in favor say I. I. Motion carries. against that light. Aren't you wondering if there's very handy lights on, you see it, and then
it's an accident for at work. A lot of times I have to I have to use it cuz it's dark. uh pavement assessment management plan is due December 1st, 2025. Right. So, uh Kenneth Smith has been helping us out with that and that's one of the things that is done to keep us uh so we are able to um apply for the community crossings grant. Right.
So, he's done that in the past and I asked him for a quote. Um, and he said he could do that for 460 and that would come out of the motor vehicle highway fund. Smart investment. Yes. I will make a motion that we pay Ken Smith out of the motor vehicle fund. I'll second. All those in favor say I. I. I. Motion carries. Is that all we have on right now? Excellent. Do we have any miscellaneous business?
I just want to say something that I think was really nice. The architecture people that did this building for us was contacted by the school to see if they would help with them and they said yes and they bid it and they undercut the company that we normally use by thousands of dollars and they are now going to do the new administrative building for the school. Where are they where are they putting the administration building? They're going to tear the old one down and Oh, still in in Florida. Put it right there. Yeah.
Yeah. I was quite shocked cuz they they asked me and said, "Would they would that engineering company work?" I'm like, "I don't know. Call them and ask." And they did. And taking on a bunch of money. I can't remember who the company was. You're talking about the company that built this. Not the build it. The architect and engineers. No, it wasn't Ken though. I thought Ken did Ken did that. Ken did part of it, but then he gave it to I can't remember that. Yeah, I can't remember their name either. Was involved in it.
Yeah. But his name was on some of stuff that we gave Blake. So Blake called the guy and he goes, "Yeah, we'll beat anybody that you can." And they beat him by a lot. Yes. Yeah, they were quite happy. Is it going to be a block building again or going to be s kind of similar to this pool modern outside and being imposted. Yeah. Can't beat it. No, it's Well, they came they've toured they were here a couple times if I remember. Right. Well, the one day they the day that they toured.
That was the day that like just after they left is when I fell and hurt my ankle. So, don't let them come back. They're not coming back. But but they had our blueprints and then that's how they kind of they really liked it the setup too. It worked well for them for what they needed and they're just going to make a few changes and Oh, they got similar floor plan similar to this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Only like the superintendent and the business manager will be in the back and have this similar for their meetings and then the girls will be up front. Okay. Which they're living on space as well. So to be able to still have
but it was just kind of thought it was kind of interesting that the town of Burlington helped the school corporation out if it's a similar footprint. Yeah. They get to ch save quite a bit out of the architecture because they copy. Correct. They don't have to. Yep. There's just a few changes but not very many. Yeah. So that's good. When will they start that? Um right away. Sounds like they're I mean they're want to get it done as quick as they can. So That's something misleading I have this as town that can help school corporation out. So, anything else?
I just think as soon as um I don't know, I'll see if I contact Daniel, but um we need to get the internal controls thing going and then also the um executive session if you guys want to do that. I agree. Yeah. just let me know. I'm available most times. Uh the 20th and 21st I will not be available. I will also next week I leave for Alabama. My daughter is getting married next Saturday. Oh. So I will be gone. We leave Wednesday and I'll be back Sunday evening. And then anytime after that
that week, the following week could be questionable because Joel will have to do her followup. She finally gets her surgery the 20th. So it's Thanksgiving week. Yeah, that's what But it's working. So it's kind of like this is when we're doing it. So So they gave her a couple dates. So she But one was the 23rd or 22nd and then one was the 20th. So she picked the 20th complete me. She played me and playing basketball. Yes, he was. My oldest was in the same grade as
as Jill there. And yeah, she had a lot of knee trouble in high school. She had four ACL repairs. Yeah. She don't have to worry about that anymore. Total It's a total knee. It's And it's a hinged knee. is it's kind of a special not very many doctors will even do it in Indiana. H but so we'll see. Yeah, I know. I had my there's actually two ball pivots in your knee and I had half of you know one of them replaced seven years ago. So I had a partial knee replacement. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
I don't think it's going to be anything like yours. Mhm. You tell her I wish you the best. I will. I will. Well, I will make a motion we close this meeting. I'll second that. All those in favor say I. All right.
