Here are the the key things that are on projects uh propositions 1 through 7. And uh those all keep your tax the same. I'll mention while we're on this uh this screen here is that Oklahoma is the only state whose municipalities run on sales tax revenue. So, um, we don't have a lot of tools in our toolbox to fund major improvements in our city, like major widening of streets and public safety and quality of life. So, the bond packages get to do that for us, which is amazing.
It's it's eight votes. You have to vote eight times. It's not one vote, winner take all. So, you'll actually have to turn the page cuz more likely three to four of the propositions will be on the back. Also when it comes to to uh percentages uh proposition one only needs 50% + one. Proposition number two is 50% + one. Three which is parks and recreation is simple majority. Four is simple majority. A five and six requires 60%. And seven and eight are simple majority. And the reason why five and six are storm water or higher is because in order to spend public dollars on private property, you have to you have to use a different statute and get additional in uh approval from the voters.
I think the library is a real important one. uh the out there on 101st Street. They need a new library and from the picture it's going to be really nice. And of course the senior center is going to be beautiful when it's all done. And I'm very interested in the storm water and storm drainage. It was very interesting cuz I didn't understand how the tax structure worked and how it affects our taxes or whether it affects our taxes and I asked enough questions and they were all very wellversed on how to answer that for me. So it was great. Yeah, this bond covers everything because it helps to maintain what we have in terms of uh buildings and um roads and things like that, but it also provides a uh places for people to gather and to help maintain that sense of community that people love and value in Broken Arrow. I highly recommend it just for the same reasons that I came out and that is to really get your own answers for your the information that you don't have. Everyone should be going to the polls to vote. Um and you need to have that informed vote and these meetings give you all the information regarding all the propositions.
Well, I I would encourage people to go to these meetings and then obviously yes, please get out there and vote. That is one thing as Americans that we can do. We can vote. If nothing else, and you feel like you don't have a say, you do.
