cuz she's a clown. I'm glad you just hit your need to turn mine on. I could see it when I saw the list. It's like, okay, I can see that. So, Sandy. Yes, sir. Am I supposed to just meet Gayen there Friday? Yeah. Okay. I've done it. Been there, done.
Been there, done that. All right, it is six o'clock, so I will call the meeting to order. And you wouldn't mind standing. I'll ask Chief Paige to verification.
Heavenly Father God, Lord, we come to you. We give you praise. We give you thanks for beautiful weather, recent worship, but God, most of all, we give you thanks for your son, Jesus. with our council tonight as they make decisions will be done in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Please join me in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation indivisible with all.
Thank you all for being here. Mayor Burrus couldn't be here tonight unexpectedly, so I will be stepping in and bear with me, please. So, uh, first off is items of community interest. Any council members have anything they'd like to share? Not, I have one that I would like to present to the Helen Furby Centers. and Miss Denise Trux, if you don't mind joining me up here.
This is the opioid funds that we had from Texas Attorney General's office. Texas Attorney General's office. And we would like to present this check for $20,000.
Thank you guys for everything. Don't Don't spend it all in one spot.
Grab and go. Yeah, grab and go. I got to check. One other item of community interest. The city offices will be closed on Monday, February 16th for President's Day. So, next up, we have the city manager report, and I'll turn that over to Burke.
I didn't print out one this week because there wasn't a whole lot going on. Uh, but the guys finally started uh working on the water line on Monte Street. It runs from Matthews to Sanders. Uh, they pretty much finished today. We'll tie that line in and and we'll have to test it to make sure it's pure and then we'll see what it does for the pressure in downtown area. That's where we're trying to increase the pressure down there. So anyway, that's that's completed and uh we had uh ice damage at the community center. Uh just the air conditioners were 68,000 and something and then were trying to get a price on the rain gutters. The ice was hard and when it fell, it hit everything and it tore up some of the rain gutters and stuff and I talked to one of the builders that does the rain gutters today and he said he'd get us a quote today. But, uh, and then Jay Evans had some damage at the electric barn. All of this stuff is under our insurance. So, hopefully we'll get most of it paid for and repaired shortly. So, but other than that, the ice event was uneventful. Thank goodness. We didn't have any water leaks like we did last time. Uh, and no power outages. There was a Lonear lost uh some lines because they froze up over on Jefferson Street. There was two or three houses that didn't have uh gas and they got that fixed. So, I mean it was thank goodness uneventful.
I'm glad on on the water line that they've finished. Is there an expectation of any kind of pressure drop or no pressure increases while we're doing it? We don't have enough pressure especially on SM Street for uh what may be required a sprinkler system and we didn't have enough pressure in operating. Stony came up with a plan to to boost that lay that water line and we'll see. It's it's a we'll see that type deal. We're putting a whole lot more water and pressure in that area. Uh if that works, we've got one other thing that surely will fix it. But uh anyway, thank you.
Any other questions? B not we will move to our consent agenda items. Everybody has the minutes from the last meeting and if there are no changes or questions I'll entertain a motion to accept those move second post scrolls post I scrolls I troli I
and myself vote I. All right. And so in this we have no old business. Correct. Correct. So in the new business category we will take the first two uh and and move those to the next meeting which will be February 24th. So with uh we have a few other people we'd like to present all this and so we can make an educated decision. So those will be moved to the next agenda. Okay.
And that will put us on item three resolution 20264 resolution authorizing the submission of a grant to the office of the governor for the sewer replacement project. And I will let server
server excuse me not sewer. our uh three servers uh the uh police department uh finance and administration are all three getting close to end of life. Uh I talked to relevant tax who is our IT support people and uh the cost of replacing all three of them within a year is around 89,000 and change. Uh there is a grant luckily available from the Texas Department of Information Resources through the governor's office. Uh and I'm applying for the grant. It's a 7030 grant. So there'll be about 70,000 that we won't have to pay and about 25 that we will. But that's a whole lot cheaper than the whole 89. Uh I think we've I've done a good job with the uh grant. uh I've written it and with the help of AI a lot of stuff I didn't know I didn't after when I used GPT to write it and then I got some help from relevant tech I got that yesterday so well to have enough information in it to make it good it the grant information is so detailed that a lot of towns our size probably qualify for it unless they're very familiar with AI and stuff because it just a lot of the information and the information I got from from relevant tech will help too but anyway I have to have this resolution included with the grant application and so that's what this is for and this resolution won't say hey we're spending this dollar amount or this and that it's just a allowing you to submit that right correct So if
it's not a sure thing, of course, no grants are, but any questions for Bert or anybody else on that one? If not, I'll entertain a motion to accept resolution 2026-04. So moved. Second. True. Post. I spray. Hi, Holstein. Hi. And I will also vote I. Next up, thank you.
We have the reappointment to the board of adjustment and appeals and we will have to uh propose and accept each one of these individually. So, we'll start with Jimmy. just ask what exactly is the board of adjustment and appeals? When there is a uh dispute uh with zoning or codes or anything like that and the the zoning and board makes a decision and it's appealed to the board of adjustments.
Okay. I don't think this board's met or been convened in probably three meet twice since I've been here. Okay. So, five years they've met. They don't. How long you've been here? Okay. Seven years. Twice in seven years. Wow. Okay. Either way, I know all of them. Then they come. I'll entertain a motion to for Jimmy Ashley. So moved. Sprs. Second. Stein and Post I Trux uh excuse me Sprouls I Trux and Holstein I
I'll also vote I next up is Bradley Herb so moved Tex Post I Spr and Holstein I and I will also vote I Gary Shields. So move. Post. Do I have a second? Second. Sprs. Post. I Spr. Trex. Hi. Holstein.
