City Council - Regular Meeting

It was great to be in Baytown this morning to have a conversation with our mayor, our city council members about the issues that are important to the residents here in the city of Baytown. And many times we're on the go at events or at receptions or community events where we're only able to have short conversations. But today we were able to sit down and have a good lengthy conversation to discuss those issues.

Find a way that some money goes back for every city to focus on reducing water bills, reducing full rope expenses. Bettering the maintenance of our full roads. Or a better strategy overall for the drainage infrastructure that's needed.

Here we're discussing about the day-to-day issues. As it was mentioned today, going back to the basics of what's important to our community in healthcare and education and workforce.

So we can't bring an industry in. We're talking about Baytown being here because of Vancouver.

It is important for us to share those experiences because for us as legislators, we are representing our community at the Capitol and we can't do that if we don't care for them now. And you hear from other legislators, even in rural Texas, saying that is an issue for us as well.

So what was your biggest takeaway from today?

How committed and passionate everyone is about serving the community. You know, you can talk about the issues that divide us, but there are way more issues that bring us together. And that's what we discussed today, those issues that make our communities stronger.
