City Council - Regular Meeting

Okay, we'll go ahead and call the uh common council meeting to order for the uh meeting. Uh let the minister reflect all council members are present. I mentioned today in the uh border works meeting what our bill was in November to now is about but the weather I mean with the weather I think it's pretty good. We're down about $4,100 less at the sewer plant. So, so it's working.

Yeah. I mean, and great time to start with the great weather. So, but down that much, I'm I'm happy with it right now. So, just want to pass that along to you.

They've done a great job with the roads. Had a lot of compliments, very few negative remarks. So, I complimented them today. They were at the board of works meeting. So, just want to let people know that they were out working and put a lot of hours in. I do appreciate what they did. No, no other old business. CDL's already that's it's already listed. That's why I had it change. All right. All the other new business have a new I don't believe so. I had a elderly person actually on the north end of W Street when they do the siren for the like tornado. They said they can't hear them. I told them I don't know who's over it, but I bring it up. I maybe turn them or it's a 360. Um, were they indoors or outdoors? Do you know? I don't know.

So, the siren is designed to notify people that are outdoors. So, hearing indoors is a struggle. Uh I do know though the trustee's next sign siren is supposed to be at station two on boot road. So, that will help cover the northern northern part of the city. I can't hear those from audio. That is about the I mean

they're designed to go 1.1 miles and notify you outdoors. So I would say at at that distance away it would be a struggle but that is the next siren should address that northern part of the city and I shall inform them.

Okay. the other day over on the corner of uh North Street and North Second there's a older house that they've been redoing it but on the back side they built an addition on and I don't know if they finished it or what corners they got rocks piled up like holding it up should have got the street again it's the corner of North Street and North.

I'll see if they got a permit for that. They put side and stuff on the back side where they built a room on it on the corner. Yeah. It's actually on the It's a house that you before on the northwest corner. At one point almost going to be condemned place if you remember. I think you talked to him before. Okay. It's only updates I could give you. I said that uh basically I know that Duncan down here had called for locates but they locate them on top of the snow. So I'm sure that's probably relocated. So I see a lot of the gas company because I ran into Dallas Lucas that works for them. He said I don't know why they had me do it. I went ahead and marked them on top of the snow. So it's gone. So that's relocated. But, uh, all the permits have been applied for and and paid for for next 11 houses on in Melbrook. So, that's that's moving in the right direction. Other than that, I can't think of any other business.

Has there been any mention of what they plan to do with the um old dollar store building? No, that still belongs to Kurt Rafferty, and I think there's been some health issues, and I don't think I haven't I haven't talked to him in quite some time. Okay. What about um maintenance um plans for the church cuz Tyler went over there and heard we have a uh Chris did. Shane was over there was he during the snow? Yeah. Okay. I don't I don't There's no issues though. I mean the heat was on. I mean everything didn't see any leaking or anything. Okay.

Nothing. I mean, it was reported to me. So, so that's kind of all I got to update you on is that in the meadow brook for now. Chris, you know anything else we need to? No. Although we are going to be changing the dumpster business at the at the uh sewer plant and I we brought that up this morning as well. Uh about they about double our rates on our dumpers and stuff out there for sludge and yeah they did so and we have sludge and recycle

and recycle. Yeah, I'll show you. I just share that with you. there's there's the price he give us today. And uh so we told him that no, we couldn't even consider that. So he's more than doubled on the on the recycle bid, but we've got some fillers out for some other bids already. So we had something in place by the first of March. That's good. I basically think negotiate or No, that's not negotiable. I think what they wanted to do is just they didn't want our business. Gosh. But you got to read down there. The 8% on top of that per ton. Eight 12 and a half%. Gosh. And 12% fuel.

It's we're that's all double from what we're doing now. Yeah. So we're not we're not entertained that wrong business for sure. Yeah, you should handed me that. I would like Oh, yeah. Yeah. uh I don't know. I think we've done this in the past and we have a fire contract with the Jent Township Fire Department. Uh, I just asked you guys, it's same. It's been since what, 19 somewhere in there, 17. Nothing's changed. I just ask you guys, I know you don't have a copy of it, but it's nothing's changed. Nothing's changed from it. Just we have to The only thing's changed is I have to have it uploaded and signed by March 1st now.

So, I think we usually do it later in the year, but just ask you guys. And I know you haven't seen it, but it's the 50,000. We pay them 50,000 a year. Uh 25 in what? June, July, somewhere in there and 25 at the end of the year typically after county settlement. Yeah. So we're close. Sometimes we did that.
