I've never done that. This up on body cam. It's like I said that you're like body cam is running. All right. We need to have a little light there. Yeah. Usually it well the whole thing like the recorder forever and we'd forget that was sitting there and next thing I was like oh um anybody turn that off yet didn't say that. Let's try it again. Looks like I got this pull my phone and record it. All right, I have 6:17 p.m.
and we'll go ahead and call our special meeting to order. All council members are present. Um, so the purpose of this is to uh we've recently had two people interview for the position of a utility superintendent for the town of Atlanta. uh basically uh not only operating our water and wastewater plant but also uh handling other uh town concerns, working uh assisting Luke with street issues, and then Luke uh conversely would assist uh this person with with uh anything they need help with. Uh that'd be some collaboration there and and uh you know, kind of how the town has historically operated. Uh but hopefully uh you know slightly differently being that you have Luke has has the street commissioner position now. Um we've interviewed both. I think we have a decent understanding of the uh background and capabilities of both and u uh we can either uh field the recommendation uh motion for hiring uh someone or we can uh declined to do so, but that's the purpose of this meeting. So, open. How long have we had this application process for this? Just in general, like I just been months.
It's been a good while. The the ad actually ran for two weeks and that was It was probably January. Really? Oh, yeah. Yeah. As far as that could receive several apps, but only two with the license that we need. Yeah. The two that we interviewed tonight were the only two licensed operators.
That's a that's our biggest thing. We need to have a license operator just because it's like they want to we can pay to have the cert to get certified but still we're in the boat of we don't have they don't have licenses. I think both candidates well qualified. I don't think there's any doubt about that. It's a hard choice than I anticipated making. As I mentioned before, one interviewed a lot better. I agree with him. both have great qualifications. I think between the two of them, we need to decide on who we're going to hire. I think the position needs filled. Got plenty of time for people to apply. And I think if we just keep putting this off, we're going to be in the same boat we've been in. Well, I'll make a motion that we offer employment to John Nicoloff. We have a motion. Is there a second?
I'll second. Motion and a second. All in favor? I I oppose. I nay. I might be in a couple months. Yeah. I oppose. Okay. Oppose. Any abstain? Okay. Not sure. Motion passes. Any other business to discuss? Do we need to discuss the salary? Uh, I suppose we do.
Um, I say with salary, they both were they both recommended the same. say that's fairly competitive. So, so I'd make a motion the salary be set at 70,000. There's a motion for 70. Is there a second? Second. All in favor? I I All right. So, I don't know how the process works. We're going to send him a letter, phone call asking
I mean I We'll notify him by by phone, but obviously there's probably some more paperwork to do, I guess. And um iron out details on Are we at one truck right now? Sort of. Yeah. Okay. Should be good Thursday. Okay. Probably say tomorrow, but you you probably have uh more use for it right now. I I don't know. That would be my thing is truck I mean truck
we carry or carry on like we are for the next couple days until a truck's available or something. I don't know. Can we can we put his higher date as the uh uh March 29th? That's when our new paper make that effective March 29th. I'll make that motion if that's the make that motion that we need. Yeah, that's a good motion to make. 29th of March. Is there a second? Second. All in favor? I. All right.
Okay. And that solves that problem. Okay. All right. Is there any other business to discuss? believe so. Well, thank you all. Well, it's been a Thank you a long roller coast long meeting here.
