And uh we need a motion to excuse uh Councilman Miller tonight. So moved. Second. Thank you. I I I All right. He is excused. Councilman Miller is on a welldeserved vacation. I don't know if I should say that or not, but I'll I'll say it's well deserved. Seeing a granddaughter get baptized. Pardon? They went to see a granddaughter get baptized. Oh, really? Yeah. In Tennessee? Yes. Okay. Good. Good. All right. Steve Workman here. Jason Kyle here. Angela Woodward here. Dan Lawson here.
All right. Well, good evening and welcome everyone to the uh well, yeah, let's do the pledge. Please join me. I allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Good evening and welcome everyone to the April 21st meeting of the Ashlin City Council. To our viewers at home, thank you for joining us. Members of our audience, members of council, attorney Bush, welcome all. We have a very light agenda this evening. We'll begin with the approval of the minutes from the April 7th meeting. If there are no additions, deletions, or corrections to those minutes, I'll ask for a motion to approve as submitted. So moved. Second. Thank you. Melissa, I. Workman. I Kyle. I. Woodward. I move for non- reading and for the minutes.
Not the minutes. No minutes will stand approved. We have no ordinances this evening. We do have one resolution, however, and this will be a resolution authorizing participation in the ODOT road salt contracts awarded in 2026. Move for non-rating in pool. Second. Thank you. Lawson. I workman. I Kyle I. Woodward. I.
All right. Every year as council is aware we participate in the ODOT salt contract uh program and we do that to get best possible pricing by aggregating that uh commodity and uh up until this past year we've had plenty of salt but this past year due to snowfall uh we used it all. So this is a very important uh resolution I believe and uh actually in previous years and and continuing this year we're going to be able to provide salt for university hospital as well as the university. They pay us for that salt but it does that pricing is is available to them through us as well. So, that's a very worthwhile uh resolution and uh we're now just asking council's approval to move forward with that.
I think it's important that we note that though we sell it to the university and university hospital, we sell it our price. Correct. We don't make money on it. We don't lose money on it. We're not giving it to them. We sell it to them for what we pay for it. So they're are able to take advantage then of this uh this buying it in bulk in large quantities with ODOT. Sure. And they don't use a whole lot. I mean they've got their parking lots basically. That's that's about it. We use it for roads etc. So um last in previous years we've had so much salt we couldn't even keep it in the dome.
We had to cover it up outside. So but uh now we've got to replenish that supply and here we are. So with that, is there a motion to approve on the first reading? So moved. Second. Thank you. Lawson. Hi. Workman. Hi. Kyle. Hi. Woodward. I. I'll move to suspend the rules for three separate readings, three separate days. Second. Second. Thank you. Workman. Hi. Kyle. Hi. Woodward. I. Lawson. I. Motion to approve the resolution. So moved. Second. Thank you. Kyle. I. Woodward. I. Lawson. Hi. Workman. I. Resolution 3-26.
All right. We have no public hearing items this evening. No old business or new business unless council has something to bring forward. Moving then right to council comments. Uh Mr. Lawson, would you like to go first?
I know it's spring and with the rain and it seems like you have to cut your grass every two or three days. Uh, but I have gotten calls about people not maintaining their properties and letting it get overgrown to the point where it has become a nuisance with rodents and other animals and then infesting their yards and coming into neighbors yards and things like that. So, just a reminder folks, please please keep after your yards and and don't let it get into such bad shape that you have to get a letter from the city. Thank you, Mrs. Woodward.
Yes. So following spring cleanup, the Ashlin County also holds a household hazardous waste paint collection day at the fairgrounds. So it is a great way to get rid of those half cans of paint, whether it be antifreeze, automobile care products, batteries, and so on. There's a whole list you can get on the website. I even shared it on my um Facebook page if you'd like to find it. It is May 2nd from 8 to 1. You must be an Ashlin County resident and you have to show proof of residency. So, you can gather up those chemicals that you don't know what to do with because you cannot throw them in our garbage and sanitation will not take them. So, you can um take them to the fairgrounds again from 8 to 1 on May 2nd.
All right. Great public service announcement. Thank you, Mr. Kle.
Hey, I there again with spring being here. Um, uh, what pops up just slightly less than Weeds does are, um, people soliciting at your house trying to sell you things. Um, don't be afraid to ask them if they have a permit. Sometimes that will limit how many times they come to your house because I can almost guarantee you most of them do not. Um, you know, we we approve those here at this meeting, so we usually have a pretty good handle on it. So I I was out in the yard mowing for 45 minutes and chased three away. So uh in one day. So that's quite a bit. So just you know just to let everybody
had a guy come to my house recently and I said do you have a permit from the city to do this? He said oh yeah it's back in the car. I said no you don't. No you don't because we're the guys. We're the ones we're the people that so and you did not get a permit from us. So cease and desist immediately. Yeah. Yeah. So anyhow just like to throw that out there. It's well within your rights to tell him to, you know, go away or show me your permit.
All right. Well, as you can see, Mayor Miller is not here this evening, but uh he's doing other important work elsewhere, so he won't have any comments uh this evening. Uh with that, uh we'll ask for comments and questions from our audience. If anyone has anything you'd like to address council about, now would be the time. No takers. So with that, is there a motion to adjurnn? So moved. Second. Thank you. I I I I adjourned. Thank you all for coming.
