Municipal Services Committee - Regular Meeting

Mayor, attorney, district one. I think you're all set. Okay, it is 4.30. We'll call to order this special meeting of the Safety and Licensing Committee for Tuesday, July 30th, 4.30 p.m. Please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Okay, roll call of membership. All members are present except for Alder Jones, who is excused. I'm Chris Crote, chair of the committee and the representative from District 14.

Thank you. Okay, we have on our agenda approval of minutes from the previous meeting, but there is no minutes listed, so we don't have to take any action. We don't have any scheduled public hearings or appearances. We'll go right into our action item. It is 26-0864, a temporary Class B beer license application for the Appleton American Legion Post 38, Reeve Pullen, Person in Charge, Veterans Memorial Park, 1620 East Witski Boulevard on July 3rd, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the 4th of July celebration. Move to approve. Second. A motion and a second to approve. Clerk Molitor, can you just explain why the need for the special meeting? I think we all know, and then the fact that this is a temporary, so it does not need to go to council. District 2. I'm sorry, go ahead. Perfect.

So the, there was confusion with the applicant about a special event permit and a temporary class B not being on the same form. And so the application for the temp B, it came in a lot later than expected. But we were able to pull together the special safety and licensing meeting in order to get it approved. Temporary class B licenses do only need to be approved by safety and licensing. They don't need to be approved by council. So we're able to, go ahead and get this, and we thank you for that.

Okay, thank you. Any, all departments are okay with everything?

Yes, it just requires approval by Fire and Health, and both departments are able to approve it.

Yeah, you bet. Sorry about that. Appreciate everybody's flexibility with that. Just a matter of, you know, obviously doing this for the first time. So we just kind of had a bit of a screw up with the paperwork on my part. So I apologize for that, but appreciate again, everybody's flexibility. So we're just hoping the weather cooperates with us and it can be a good event, but I promise we won't be here again for the same reason next year. Okay.
