All right. Welcome, everyone. I am calling to order the Utilities Committee meeting for August 26 at 04:30. Let us all rise and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America, to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Thank you. Please be seated. And roll call of membership, let the record note that Alder Heffernan is excused, and we'll introduce ourselves starting on my left.
Adrian Stanson Martin, District 11.
Baret Meltzer, District 2.
Josh Lambrecht, District 1. Denny Daugherty, District 15.
All right. And we need an approval of the minutes from the previous meeting, twenty five-one thousand and three, to approve the August 12 Utilities Committee meeting minutes.
Motion to approve. Second.
I have a motion and a second. Any comments or amendments? Seeing none, all in favor say aye. Aye. Any nays or abstentions? There are none. That is approved, four-zero. Moving down, we do not have any public hearings or appearances today. We have one action item. 20 five-one thousand and four, award compost screening contractor services to Vandenberg Transportation LLC for an extended one year term ending 12/31/2025. Can I get a motion?
So moved. Second. All
right. We have a motion to approve and a second. And Director Stempa, would you like to tell us about this item, please?
Briefly. It is confusing. Alder Meltzer, you had asked a question regarding the year and the ending and given the start date. And really, it's just an extension within the confines of the calendar year. So, we're just acting on it when the need is there and the need is there there right now. We weren't sure earlier on in the year if we needed to act on the option year for screening compost and there is currently a batch finishing at the county landfill, and we want to act on getting it screened and ready for sale later this year into next year.
Alright. Thank you. And do we have any anticipation about next year? Is there a reason why we're not rolling this in together with the contract for next year?
As it stands right now, we have not budgeted to continue the composting efforts next year. The sludge storage building addition, which was in lieu of continuing the composting venture with the county, since that's going to sunset regardless based on the needs of that facility long term with their expansion and the footprint being tighter and tighter as the landfill expands on the green space out there. So this is just a way to make that decision. It's not as cost effective as land application. And the sludge storage building addition provides us that on-site need that the off-site composting does or did.
Thank you. Any comments or questions from committee? All right. Seeing none, let's go ahead and vote. All in favor say aye. Aye. Any nays or abstentions? Or none. That is approved four zero. That will go on to counsel on Wednesday, next week.
We do not have any information items. Go ahead and take a motion on item number eight.
Move to adjourn.
Second. We have a motion and a second. All in favor, aye. Aye. We are adjourned. Thank you all very much.
