It's uh time for our February 3rd meeting of the Andalusia City Council. I'll call the meeting to order and ask you to stand and join Councilman Presley Boswell as he leads us in the prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
Let us pray. Thank you Lord for this day, for this assembly and the people involved. Be with our city. Be with the leaders of this city that we will make the right decisions at the right time. be with the workers of this city that the things that they do will always be for the betterment of the people of this city. And Lord, let them learn to smile. We thank you, Lord, for our health, the food on our table, and a roof over our heads. These things we ask in your name. Amen.
Amen. Salute. Ready. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Want to welcome our guests that are with us tonight and always glad to have you and remind you that we meet uh routinely uh uh ordinarily we meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month with the workshop starting upstairs at 5:30 and then the regular session starting here at 6:00. Uh sometimes those meetings are changed for one reason or another and we will try to get we try to get notice out to uh to the folks in the community that of those changes. But we're glad to have you and come back again. Uh we have a real short agenda tonight. Won't take us long to get through it. Uh the first item of business is to consider approval, correction, or changes in the our minutes of uh January 20th, 20, 2026.
Mr. Mayor, I move for approval of said minutes as uh presented. All right, we have a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Do we have a second? A second motion. Second by Mr. Ma'am. Any further discussion, questions, or comments? All in favor of approval of the minutes, please indicate by raising your right hand and saying I.
I. Any oppose? Same sign. And it the minutes are approved and I thank you for that. No unfinished business. Only two items to act on tonight. The first is a resolution 2026-01 abatement of nuisance properties. They're listed there in your packet. One at 500 OP Avenue, one at 204 Chickasaw Street, one at two 104 Chuckaw Street, one at 228 Sheriff Drive, and one at 205 Cherokee Street. And you have photographs there that demonstrate what uh needs to be done at those on those areas. So, I recommend to you that we adopt the resolution. We'll need a motion and a second to that effect.
Mr. Mayor, I move that we approve resolution 20261 abating the five properties listed in the ordinance or or the resolution. All right, we have a a motion by Mr. Powell to adopt the resolution. Do we have a second? Mr. Mayor, I will second that resolution. Second by Mr. Bosle. Any further discussion, questions or comments? Hearing none. All in favor, please indicate by raising your right hand and saying I. I. I.
Any oppose? the same and it is approved. Thank you for that. Only one other item. Uh we need uh you know the last couple of three years we've been purchasing uh barriers uh to use uh to mark off streets, barricades, I should say. Uh crowd crowd barricades uh traffic barricades. All these things are are designed to help uh with with parades and other uh public events or to mark off areas that there's some danger associated with. Uh we are trying to be consistent in the in the color and the style of these barricades and it's time that we add some additional ones. And the recommendation uh to this uh uh tonight is that we buy 240 more of these barricades, 8 foot 8 and 12 ft heavy duty steel barricades. And the total price for each barricade, I mean, excuse me, for all of the barricades is $29,930.19. This money would come from our capital account. Do we have a motion to approve that purchase?
Mr. Mayor, I'll make that motion and that it come from capital. All right, we have a motion by Mr. Bosle. Do we have a second? I'll second that motion. Second for Mr. Craig. Any further discussion, questions, or comments? Hearing none. All in favor of of approving the purchase, please indicate by raising your right hand and saying, "I." I. Any opposed? Same sign. And they are approved. and we'll get those on order because we've got some things coming up before long that we'll be needing them. That's all I have on the agenda tonight. Anything from the council? At hearing nothing, we will stand ajourned.
