Just a quick question almost similar to what Councilmember Lohman asked just now. You mentioned that only 50% of a given building should be occupied by these potential establishments, correct?
Okay. So you're proposing to take the entire building? Okay. So in regards to that I have a quick question to follow up on it. industrial areas are kind of protected at this point, right? So is the tax revenue increasing by adding these facilities to those areas or the industrial element provides more of a tax base if you compare one to the other?
But it will occupies the building. Yeah. So there is the potential that if... I mean, I don't want anybody to fail if they come up for business, but in the event that they did or they decide to downsize and move to another location and there is a potential industrial company trying to move into a building that is unoccupied, that's still the possibility, right? Yes. I like that. All right, thank you.
I just have a quick comment. And I don't mean to be negative or against this project. However, the comparison that you made, Mr. Mayor, there's no comparison between the two locations, because the area that you refer to, I happened to be able to go, I went there to not condors also for the elections, right? And I had the opportunity to look and walk through the whole area, and it's a totally different look. It's not in between houses. It is completely an area that has been dedicated to the townhomes. And it doesn't appear, I mean, for me it was hard to believe that there were town homes in…
That's the one thing that I do like and support about this project is the fact that there is home ownership involved. And I do remember three years ago, I made a big deal about something that came up and that we were building apartments and not offering affordable housing. So that said, it's very difficult to say no to this project because of the home ownership involved in the project. It's just one of the most important things in the city at this moment, at least in my opinion. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Thank you. Council Member Robertson.
I'm just wondering, I kind of agree with the reduction in apartment buildings, new development and stuff like that. My question is more commercial or wholesale places. Do we really need to reduce the amount of parking spaces? I mean, if... I kind of try to shop in Bloomington as much as possible. And my experience is in Target over by Penn and American, finding a parking space that is actually on Target instead of going to the other side is very difficult, especially at the times that I go. I think I should try to go different times. And then Caribou Coffee over at, is it France? France and…
That's exactly my point. You can't predict what the market is. I know a lot of people have been making assumptions about online shopping. It still hasn't happened the way that a lot of people do, yes, including myself. But there are things that people do on a daily basis that it won't change. I still have a hard time ordering food from the market to be delivered. I still go shop for it myself. And there are quite a lot. I mean, every time I go, the time I choose to go is packing there. I GO TO LONDON VIRALIST ON 50th. I MEAN, ON 50th. And Normandale, and it's hard to find a parking spot in…
Not quoted here: it may name a member of the public. Hear it at the meeting.
Yeah, that would be great. I agree with that. And, again, it's my lack of experience that I don't know how to word it properly, but that's the goal, I mean, that we can study it and have better information to give the public as well. At this moment, it's just complaints, so I guess if we give them a clear explanation on what is the purpose behind this, they might have a better understanding of what the situation is.
Okay, Council Member Rivas. I have a quick question for you. Just a clarification. According to your map, all the blue are where you allow car washes, right? And the pink ones are where the detailing takes place.
So basically everything that is blue could allow a car detailing. I was just asking that because in most places they have a car wash and by the side that's where they detail vehicles also. That's all I need. Thank you.
