City Council · Sep 8, 2026
- Play at 2:19:10
“Well, that's what I thought. That's what it was set up. It was set up at 3% for staff, but they can do another 2% for performance and get up to 5% is what it, what it was. Another question, police and fire. Didn't we just do 4% for them? Wasn't there contracts?”
City Council · Sep 8, 2026

“Well, the first year of the contract, police got 18% and fire got 15%, but then we set everything else for the next two or three years at 4%.”

“Right, for the union. Yeah, that's union, yeah. But they said, if I'm not mistaken, what we approved was 18% for fire last year. Now, fire was 15% and police was 18% because that brought them up to the minimum pay equal to everybody other agency around to get them up to that level, okay? That's why we gave them big boosts. Then each year after that, it would have been 4% for each one, if I'm not mistaken, in that contract. But anyway, I was thinking more 4% because that's where we went with everybody else. And trust me, when it comes to pay increases, anything over 2% for me is – It is crazy.…”

“I know most of them I've done was around 4%, okay, not 4. Anything over, so. And that's what I'm saying. In action. But I entertain a motion.”

“Well, I was going to go back and if I'm not mistaken, when we did this evaluation, it asked us to list improvements or goals you wanted to do. So, when you did the evaluation, you should have done that already. Correct. the evaluation so I don't know why we got to come back now and have a whole nother meeting on goals when we were supposedly when you did your evaluation did that now are some of repetitive I think so okay so maybe the city manager deficit manager and Tracy whoever can go through and narrow them down and get rid of and just say here's the goals but I don't think we need to have…”

“Yes, I agree with that. Okay. The fact that, you know, we've given all this to him, what our expectation is. And if either one of us feel he's not meeting our expectation, I think we need to have a one-on-one with him to express that rather than trying to sit here and say, okay, we're going to take evaluation number three goals and apply. Then you're trying to dictate to me how I'm supposed to up your person. Okay. Yeah. accept the evaluation as it's been given, anybody have any problem that he don't think they're meeting your expectation, his or her expectation, then you need to have a…”
