“Thank you, Mayor. I agree with everything that's been set up here so far, so I won't go into that. I guess some of the questions that I would have as this project moves forward is when you look at the size of St. Vider compared to our other local high schools, there's a big difference there, and I, too, understand the importance of sports. To Trustee Zick's point, why eight tennis courts? Because there's three single matches and four double matches going on, all at the same time during a tournament. So you need the tennis space there during tournaments to have those events. So that I…”

“Quite a few more than, I think you showed a number of like 40 would only be impacted where they had to go off-site. Sure. I mean, you've got swimming, and you've got softball, baseball, golf, hockey.”

“Yeah, so I guess my question is, with this project going forward, I'm assuming that you'd like to maybe increase your enrollment. So some of those figures that we maybe see on parking are going to change dramatically. quite a bit if all of a sudden you start seeing more students come to your school.”

“Yeah, Randy, I guess my initial thought is rather than reducing the entire construction project, maybe take a look at somebody that wants to put in some green initiatives and not necessarily change the fee for all construction costs. But if they're going to do a few certain things, maybe look at restructuring just that portion of the project. So if we're going to encourage solar panels or encourage other forms of green, we can reduce maybe the fees for those specific things that we're trying to encourage rather than dropping the entire construction project that may not have anything to do…”

“Trustee Schwingbeck. Thank you, Mayor. I was just responding to Trustee Dunnington's thoughts earlier, but just a comment and a question. I'm really glad, thank you, Melissa, for the presentation. I'm glad you were thinking about this because even going back to when I was first put on this board in 2019, one of my big concerns was with these large projects and the amount of time that staff puts in to working on these projects, and some have never moved forward. And I really like that when you start working on it, we're getting some type of money to cover a lot of your time and costs. So thank…”

“Yeah, and we've seen some projects here recently where we approve it, shovels are in the ground, the building's up, and everything's going along as smooth as possible. But then there's other ones that we give a year extension and a six-month extension, and they just don't seem to go anywhere. And we've had a lot of year time and money wrapped up in this, and I just think some of these developers need to put something forward that can be... given back when the permitting it you know tacked on to their permitting fees so Appreciate all your work.”

“Four blue cards that will call on for the audience to speak as well, so go ahead and we'll start with trustee showing back Thank You mayor I Guess my concerns for staff and as I've Publicly said I'm certainly in favor of supporting affordable housing affordable living We we went through this not too long ago with with another development We always talk about how important it is to take care of the seniors from our town, but if I'm not mistaken, we really can't guarantee that this is going to be helping our seniors, if that's correct, because this could be affordable senior housing for…”

“Yeah, and I'm all in favor of not only affordable housing in general, but really looking out for our residents. And I just want to make it clear that that may not happen, that we could be seeing seniors from all over. When I look at this project, I guess a couple of things. Regardless of whether this was affordable senior housing or just apartments in general. I'm concerned about the two buildings, the three and the four stories. because when we were talking about the last proposal that we went through where the building is now being built, it started out as a three-story and when it was…”

“Go right ahead. So I know as we've said, The Park District Board certainly makes these decisions. You had just a comment, and I guess I'm not looking for an answer, but you've had a couple of residents that have taken the time to come and speak to us this evening. I don't know if they've... come to the Park District board meeting to make those similar requests. I'm looking at that map. It looks like these are about as far away from Park District activities as you can get. And I know, John, you made a comment earlier that you had heard from some residents that wanted the swings. I don't know…”

“Well, I certainly respect what everyone had to say tonight, and thank you to staff, everybody, Deputy Manager Mikula, Manager Reklos. I mean, this is something that I've been thinking about for a long time, and I'm really happy that we're discussing this. I'm glad we've been a little conservative because what I've seen on a regular basis in other towns, they open it up Monday through Sunday for the entire liquor code. So I'm really happy that we're going to try the pilot program if it passes between 5 and 9. I certainly have seen where everybody has to come in and get the drink. You can't…”

“Thank you, Mayor. I would move that we approve the attach ordinance to amend the code as outlined and direct village staff to take the necessary steps to implement a downtown social district pilot program.”
