“Commissioner Bott? I move to defer this item. I think this is a very substantive discussion. It was added to the agenda after 6 last night, I think. I was on my way to a neighborhood association meeting. I didn't even know about this until this morning. And I'm not voting in support of something that I haven't even had time to read yet. So I'd like to make a motion to defer this discussion. I'll second that deferral.”

“I haven't read it. I'm not going to vote for something that I haven't read yet. Let's call the vote.”

“As a matter of form, I think it's bad practice, for myself at least, to vote in support of something that I haven't even seen yet. I don't think that's how legislative policy should be made. I don't think it serves our residents well. And if everybody else somehow magically had the opportunity to read this and give it due consideration last night and I'm the only one who didn't because I was at an HOA and I didn't see that it had been added until this morning, then I guess I'm the idiot here. But I'm not voting for something that I haven't read yet.”

“Just for the record, for anybody listening, this is to authorize one of our existing vendors. This is to authorize, thank you, for any one of our existing vendors, excellent landscape architects who just completed a long planned and long desired project in mid beach the bay shore park which is a spectacular location if you have not yet been there to take a look at the west slots which are underutilized and imagine how they could be used differently not getting rid of parking and keeping the services that need to stay there in that general area but looking at how to use that land mass more…”

“Debbie, you said that you would like direction to move it to the planning board, either option one or two? We are recommending option two. Right, but the direction is to move it to the planning board for further discussion.”

“So could we refer to the planning board for them to discuss it before you prepare the ordinance? Yes. That would be my motion on option two.”

“Through the mayor, if I may. Commissioner Bach. Debbie. So if it goes to the planning board for discussion and there's an ordinance prepared, if the discussion ends up giving very different guidance, you have to revise the ordinance anyhow, right? I'm not trying to add layers of time to this. I just want to get the most Effective way of getting feedback that we can see before it becomes Law of the land you put so I'm sorry So is it a viable Process to go to the Planning Board with a prepared ordinance and then say they change a whole bunch of things then what happens I”

“And could you create the title so that it covers every possible eventuality, and then if you only do five of the ten in the title, you don't have to worry about having a revised title?”

“Well, I think that's probably a bigger issue anyhow, right, than just the re-noticing. It's a bigger issue because it's a fundamental change of what you guys thought was good direction so okay so I retract my amendment and I'm fine to send it along with a broad title and a draft ordinance to Planning and see what happens.”

“Because managing... From what I understand, there's... there aren't enough of them to get all the work done. So you have to either hire more people or find other ways to get it done. That's my understanding. Please correct me if I'm wrong.”

“So if I might, Linda, please correct me. A million dollars? So we have, I think, three people up in the booth right now who are AV specialists who are not going to be doing walkthroughs with residents. We have four. And then we have two photographers, right?”

“Okay, so there is some overlap of what the team could do in terms of writing and communications, but you're talking about bodies to walk through, to have meetings, to oversee. It's a different skill set than... You know PJ is up there doing presentations and doing Commission meetings and Events around the city and doing all these things. He already goes to the neighborhood affair Community meetings about these projects like we have to be realistic. I don't think anyone is suggesting that it's a great idea to spend money if we don't need it, but but This is There is a fallacious argument being…”

“A couple of questions for you guys. Thank you for the update. I know not all the parts of the plan have been implemented yet, but a lot has changed since this all started when I first reported it as a resident on Parkview Island. Can you address, is there a sort of directional data that indicates improvement so far? Can you give an update? Because I know it is out in the community as a punching bag, if you will, that nothing changes, nothing's getting better. So, is there data that you can share that indicates that while it is not completely resolved, yes, things are getting better and are…”

“The hydrogen peroxide scrubbing, I know it's labor intensive. There's an opportunity maybe to do it at hot spots. You had mentioned that you wanted to rightly so study to make sure that it didn't affect deleteriously the water quality, which is ironic given the topic and the need for it. But if it's coming as a recommendation from UM, has that not already been confirmed that it would not be harmful?”

“Got it. Secondly, part of the frustration beyond just the fact that we have a contaminated canal is that it happened basically minutes after the kayak launch was installed, which is very frustrating. I happen to live when I, you know, back in 2020, I was living across from Bonita Drive, from that end of the street. And I know that it's, you know, just a few houses in from Indian Creek Canal, and it's a lot, it's easy to get out into the cleaner water without having to circumnavigate the island. Is there a possibility that of installing a temporary canal, temporary kayak launch on this street…”

“So it's at the end, the Bonita Drive street end, which already is significantly lower because it's so close to the Indian Creek Canal, and it gets flushed out. So if you go out straight to the Indian Creek Canal,”
