  4. Thank you. All right, we'll turn this conversation over to the governing body. I'm going to make a couple quick comments before we start that. As I've looked at this, and I know that one council member has an option four, so that's fair, and we'll have that conversation. But I view us as having sort of three primary options, and then whatever else we come up with will be four, five, and six, I guess. But as I expressed last week, I think I'm not entirely ready to think we're prepared over the next week to have what the full question would look like, whether it's a quarter cent, half cent,…

  5. You're back. Council Member Hiller, you did cut out for a moment. I think you're back.

  7. I'm happy to do that. Why don't you do that? We'll keep cutting out. So in the meantime, while you do that, I'm going to go to Councilmember valdiviacula for a moment.

  8. I think there's a way to look at it, and I'll do this, to say, I'm just thinking here, but so it'll hold me to exactly the language, but I think there's a way to cover both concerns. The concern that eight years, it passes, and then eight years in, the program magically changes to zero down or something ridiculous, and somebody who didn't like the tax wants to then legally challenge us to say, you can't do it, it's not called built for zero, versus adding language that specifically states it's going to whatever our targeted homelessness program whatever that is. And I'll look at some of that…

  9. Yep. We'll play with some language here. All right. We're going to try this now. I'm going to hit my speaker. Councilwoman, you're going to have to mute your Zoom, though. Otherwise, there's going to be feedback.

  13. I think we're good. All right. You ready, Karen? I didn't hear what he just said. Good. I mean, not good because he's good what he said, but that means you got your volume off, so now there's no feedback.

  15. I'll just review those numbers real quick. An election mail ballot is about $118,000. It would kick in, if it was approved in March, it would kick in July 1. Half the year collection would be a little over $2 million. Council Member Bradbury. Is that your question? Okay. Any other questions or comments on this?

  16. Well, I'll answer a little bit of that. I mean, that money would accumulate, and if 10 years go by and the citizens don't think that we've spent it at all, then they probably won't renew that 10-year tax. I'll say on the affordable house fund front, and you're right, who knows what that accumulation would look like. I will say, though, that they knew going into those initial million-dollar expenditures that that's all they had. that to date we haven't put any additional funds. And I guarantee had they been able to open that up to more companies, they would have been able to use more than that…

  18. I agree with you, Council Member. Thank you. But I guarantee you we are not ready to put that question on the ballot in March, so we will have a lot of time to discuss that question.

  19. My neighbors know my street's the last one. He's the mayor. That's how that works. All right. So here's what I'd like to do. I'm going to take all the feedback on the housing question, see if we can rewrite something that gets us closer. And next week, if we think that we're ready to move anything like housing and auditor to March, we can have that conversation definitively. And if we're not? That's fine too. If anyone else is interested in anything else moving next week to a March ballot, a broader question, you're going to do that work yourself. Because as I said, I don't think we're ready…
