“Rachel or Randy, can one of y'all clarify with them who's going to be responsible for the maintenance of the poles themselves? Because I know we have to paint the parking lot poles here, and they get to looking pretty rough sometimes. So they're going to be there 10 years. They're going to need to be repainted.”

“But can they let them go, or do they have to meet a standard? Because you don't want... them sitting in the parking lot needing to be painted. But we just don't have time or we're not going to paint them. We need to hold them to a maintenance agreement on that.”

“But they're like the ones on Main Street when it's time to repaint them. They choose when they paint them.”

“Thank you, Mayor. As part of the town's road improvement plans for Sunset Split Project. The town will need to purchase approximately 16 acres of property bearing TMS number 003500-03-007 adjacent to town limits. An appraisal has been taken and staff is asking for permission to negotiate the sale. Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, details of a negotiated contract and identification of the property will be made available once the deed is signed. The closing is planned for November the 6th at this time. I'll make a motion for first reading approval.”

“Mayor, I would like to say that the funds will be available through the Sunset Split project, so it won't be costing town citizens any tax dollars.”

“So is there a way to speed up just the gold intersection water lines, even if we just put them in the ground and didn't connect them so that we could come back and tie into them later so we could keep this road project on schedule? Because this intersection really needs this improvement.”

“Yes, ma'am. Randy, why are we not doing these lights ourselves instead of having them contracted out?”

“Well, could staff maybe look at what it would cost for us to do it in-house? Because I know we handle our parking lights here on downtown property. We handle the amphitheater parking lot lights, correct? Correct. So why would we not handle? I mean, I would just like to see the number cost difference for us to bring this in house.”

“So I've received several calls from some neighborhoods that want to add more lights to their neighborhood, and I reached out to you. What do we do? going back to revisiting this ordinance, I think we're going to have to look at it more as of We might need some guidance from Dominion on how far apart they ought to be. Yes. Because to your point of lot sizes, we certainly can't put this subdivision with a light every six houses and just apply that standard to every size subdivision. Because some of those lights will be so bright you play football. Yes.”

“Well, I just, I'll look for y'all to bring us back a bunch of information. Sounds like it's going to open up a Pandora's box when we start on this one.”

“I wasn't on council. There are letter states that in 2009 they appealed to the town council for the first time and we've been doing this since 2009 for them. So I would, I think staff needs to, as far as the rest of the subdivisions need to go, staff needs to figure out how many lights that would be, what that would cost the town and the council would have to decide if we had the funds to, or if we had the ability to fund that.”

“Mayor, we've made a motion and a second to put this on the agenda, but... Last point of discussion I'd like to make is could we possibly reach out to them and ask them for a copy of their bill so we can see what they actually spent for this particular neighborhood that we are considering at our next council meeting?”
