“The Flagstaff City Council humbly acknowledges the ancestral homelands of these areas' indigenous nations and original stewards. These lands, still inhabited by native descendants, border mountains sacred to indigenous peoples. We honor them, their legacies, their traditions, and their continued contributions. We celebrate their past, present, and future generations who will forever know this place as home.”

“Vice Mayor. Thank you, Mayor. I have a couple of quick things. BPAC met last night. It was a great meeting. chock full of things. We did talk about the Multicultural County Park Sculpture Exhibition. Our year four is coming up, so that's exciting. Stay tuned for more information on that. We also got an update from Danielle Adams from Dark Skies, and she talked about the BIA grant And I don't know if you all were able to go to Buffalo Park to see the grand piano performance. They did it three times this summer, quite amazing, and just gave a really nice update on the community reception of…”

“Vice Mayor. Thank you. Thank you, Tiffany, for bringing this forward. I love that you are bringing these things slowly and surely as we go through the last cap process and that this adds flexibility as things evolve. My question, and I don't know how to phrase it right, but you had mentioned we do have a great planning director, a great team right now. What happens, is this specific enough to where it's not as subjective as relying on the team as much as knowing where we want to go as a city and Does that make sense?”

“Vice Mayor. Thank you, I just had a couple of comments. Thank you again to staff. I do really appreciate that you've worked on finding a balance with safety, sustainability, affordability, so I really appreciate that. This wasn't easy. As we move from 2018 codes to the 2024 codes, I would love a way for builders and contractors to be able to give us feedback and for us to be able to respond to them because this is, you know, it's a jump and I would like to be sure that we have open dialogue on what's working and what's not working and what maybe some consequences are and how we can better…”

“Vice Mayor. Thank you. I've been downtown pretty much every day for the last 25 years, so I love this conversation. Vanessa, I'm wondering, and I had to step away for a second, can you go over again the 15-minute flex zone? Is that for unloading and loading, or is it for a customer who wants to zip in and get a cup of coffee?”

“I know we've had a lot of community input that those would be helpful, and I agree, so thank you. And hopefully there's a lot of robust conversation about that, and it can happen soon. And I just wanted to comment on the parking aids. They are wonderful. However, we don't often have them filled, the positions filled. And this poses such a a weird, interesting tug and pull because we met with a business and they had an employee that got a warning and they were frustrated that they got a warning because they had been parking in the same spot for months and hadn't gotten a warning until we hired…”

“Thank you, I appreciate you commenting on that, and I do wanna say that even though we have a lower staff right now, they are everywhere, even if it's just the one. I see the parking aids everywhere, so I'm just grateful that they're doing such a great job, thank you. Council Member Garcia.”

“Great, Vice Mayor. I know we have public comment. I just had a quick comment that I was in the meetings with the different water users and let me tell you, they were robust conversations and our department did a great job of having people from all sectors and nothing was untouched and nothing was unsaid. I feel like we really dove in and I just want to make sure that everyone knows that and same with the Water Commission. Really good conversations. If you want to go back, I think they're online, and you can watch those meetings. Thank you.”

“Vice Mayor. Thank you. Just real quick, we were talking about the Green Business Boot Camp earlier in consent, and I wanted to make sure that everyone knew the next cohort is scheduled for October 1st. And you can go to local First Arizona's website to learn more. The Green Business Boot Camp is open to local businesses interested in learning practical ways to reduce waste, save energy and water, and strengthen their operations through sustainable practices.”

“Thank you. Vice Mayor. Thank you. I was going to keep mine short, Council Member House. It was a very busy break. I did attend almost all of my different commissions, BPAC, Mountain Lion, Water Commission, Metro Plan. I had to miss my NAMWA, unfortunately. But what I am excited to share is that I am the new chair of NACOG, and we have a meeting this Thursday, 10 to 12, at the NASA Center over on the Mesa. It does mean I will be a little bit late to our retreat that we have, but I'm excited to start my new role as chair of NACOG. Council Member Aslan.”

“Thank you, Mayor. We did have a few applications, and I appreciate everyone that took the time and was willing to throw their hat in the ring. We did have someone that applied with 13 years of hospitality in the industry, and I felt that that was a good rounding of the current commission. So I would like to move that we appoint Belen Mendez to the Tourism Commission.”

“You know, it was a very busy, I got an okay to do that. It was a very busy, busy break. I attended several conferences and definitely they helped keep my mind engaged and learning new things and it just was helpful to have that opportunity during the break. I also attended some fire department retirements, which was very heartfelt and Congratulations to the two that I went to, Gutierre and Gregor. I can never say the first one right, I'm sorry. I did attend the Indigenous Code Talkers celebration, the community discussion on drones as first responders, and the Ponderosa Park Improvement…”
