No, but just for the audience awareness, we pulled something so that we can have bigger discussion. It'll come right after consent, so it's still here. It just will come just a tad bit later.
Yeah, I'll recognize the Kawana Club Fortuna. We're ratifying this week, but we did the certificates last week. And Cindy Dateweiler for Women in Business, Businesswoman of the Year, and Bailey Davey, Woman of Distinction. It was a really nice luncheon, and they were both very surprised. So congratulations.
Thank you. I just want to recognize from Public Works the Measure O work that has been done this last construction season, which would be the summer, usually ends around October. Those guys and gals from all the areas, Metol Road got a huge improvement, have really been working hard to spend those tax-paying dollars that we got from Measure O and put some new pavement down, and the roads are looking a lot better. I just want to thank them.
Congratulations, love the suit, enjoy your retirement.
Chair, so you're effectively pulling that item?
I echo my colleagues. I think there's probably nothing more frustrating than not being able to communicate, especially when it comes to, if you have medical needs, And I'm thankful that you guys are doing this work and making that an easier process for people on both sides. And thanks to Providence as well for all the work they do around making sure everybody's heard.
Thank you. So if you are here for this proclamation for domestic violence, please come forward. Okay, so I'm gonna read the proclamation and then we'll get some pictures and then I understand we have a video and then you guys can say what you'd like. Okay, this is a proclamation in honor and recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October. Whereas October is annually recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and whereas progress continues to be made towards violence prevention, domestic and intimate partner violence remains a serious issue affecting…
I think we have a video, right? Did you guys have a video?
Well, thank you. And Access Humble, you can access it. So I hope people look at that. Would anybody else like to say anything? Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you for all you guys for being here to recognize this. Domestic violence is something that it's horrendous if you're in the situation and getting out of it while sometimes when you step away for months or years, you can look back and say, you know, why did I stay there? But it's not that easy when you're having that situation happen at the time. I do want to recognize that most of the time our district attorney comes down and she plays a huge part in prosecution and making sure that families are safe. And the CAS team often talks with children that have been involved with…
I'll make a motion to accept the proclamation.
I just want to say thank you, too, and thanks for Rex for bringing this forward. My grandfather was a veteran as well, and I was so proud of him. He's passed on, but I can echo what your grandsons have said and how proud they are of you, and my grandfather raised me as well. He instilled in me the importance of serving your country and loving your country and to honor our veterans and active members. And so I really thank Rex for bringing this forward and for your commitment to your country that you have.
I'll make a motion for staff recommendations.
I'll make a motion to appoint Supervisor Arroyo and alternate Supervisor Wilson.
I also want to echo my colleagues and thanks for yesterday's meeting and today's update.
I just want to add in a comment to what Supervisor Bone said. You also can sign up for those emails and get them daily. Probably all do as well. Just gives an echo update and they're they're very frequent.
I'll make a motion to receive and file the report or update.
Thank you. I just wanted to recognize for the public that there are quite a few supplementals that are on this consent calendar. And oftentimes, you know, when we see supplementals that are contingencies out of general fund, we pull them. These are not those. They are moving monies around within departments as it's the end of the year trying to balance their internal budgets. And I just wanted to recognize that.
I'll make a motion to approve consent minus D2 and D13.
Thank you. I think there are some folks here for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you want to come forward, please. And you all can come forward if you want. Karen.
Okay, this is a proclamation in honor of an awareness of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. whereas breast cancer is an epidemic that will strike one of eight American women in their lifetime, and whereas breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, and while the risks increase with age, even younger women can be affected. And whereas it is estimated that 321,910 women and 2,670 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States in 2026, and which affects not only the patient, but their family, employer, and friends as well. whereas although breast cancer remains the…
Thank you, and thank you for all the words that were spoken today. If you look around the room today, there will be approximately, and probably someone already has been touched by breast cancer in this room, but three women in this room, possibly in their lifetime, will get detected with breast cancer. It affects so many people, and if your spouse is the one that is dealing with breast cancer along with yourself, it is terrible to have to be a bystander and watch your loved one go through breast cancer cancer or breast cancer. And it just really is so, it just changes a family and early…
Billy thanks for the patch can I get a badge and a few other things so I can get out of stuff just just a wild thought there I also want to recognize along with the sheriff's department that across Humboldt county police officers and Eureka Fortuna are also wearing pink and pink badges and I think it's really important to like sheriff Hansel said to say hey I see that I was at the Fortuna city council meeting last night and They were all decked out in pink and that was really great to see. Also the pink cans in Fortuna, the first city that has done that, which is really amazing. It's been a…
I'll make a motion to approve the proclamation.
I do. Okay, go ahead. Okay, I just want to, the Redway transfer site, it's coming along great, and the community is very thankful for that down there. I also just want to comment with the southern outline sites, and that's what we're talking about, right? I know those, like Bloxburg, Whitethorn, all of those, they're expensive, and I understand Recology wanting to pull out, but it It will increase the amount of trash that are dumped on the sides of the roads. Those sites are utilized well. The containers are full every week, almost every week with rural folks out there that utilize that. So…
