“Excellent. I know it seems kind of silly to do that with library cards and the fact that library cards would be trendy and that my daughter would wait in line for a couple hours, she's an avid reader, to get a specific library card. Being on the cutting edge just not with the programs themselves, but things to bring people into libraries such as that, I just really applaud you for your efforts. I know that seems like a silly one, that's why I brought it up. but I do feel that anything we can do to make people realize how adaptable the libraries are and that everyone's welcome.”

“Thank you, Mayor. Thank you for the presentation, Taylor and Chair Schwarzmanek. I'm excited to be attending the GAIN events. We all received invites this last week. I plan on attending. I think there's four. I think I can make two of them. But I also appreciate how you work to recreate this commission and keep making yourselves uh... viable to the citizens in making sure that people know who you are i think that uh... this is the basis i love this commission i love that you guys are you know going into neighborhoods it just makes people feel connected uh... i also want to say thank you to…”

“We have Vice Mayor McKellen. Thank you, Mayor. Thank you, gentlemen, for your presentation. I am kind of a tourism geek. I show up to your commission meetings. And Chair Montgomery is right. I would not like to be the person that you guys are asking these grueling questions to because they're all professionals on that commission. What I do want to do is the cooperation, the part that you talked about, Joe, how it's interdependent on all these other organizations. I had the opportunity on Saturday, and this is a blatant, shameless shout out for the city of Scottsdale. Our stadium director,…”

“And Vice Mayor McKellen would like to speak. Thank you, Mayor. Thank you, Chief Shannon. Thank you also to the city manager and to HR for really investing in this. Our city's already been touched. Captain Corey Yule, like you said, passed away at age 42, was a 21-year veteran here in Scottsdale, left behind a wife and four children on our behalf. I believe your efforts moving forward should be supported fully because when we catch it early, then we have survivors and nobody's left behind, and that's the whole idea behind it. So thank you for all your work.”

“Vice Mayor McKellen. Thank you, Mayor. Thank you for your presentation, Katie. I also wanted to mention that, and I fully support the 10-year plan, but one of the things, a little aside from your presentation, is our public art program also rescues art that become part of our permanent collection. Just look over here, you see the Palo Solari Bell. To purchase that is probably... There's not a price that can be made. It's one of the largest bells ever made, made here locally by artists in Paradise Valley. The weavings, all of these pieces of art that may start in one area can be saved, and I…”

“That would be ditto. I actually have a question, if that's all right. My question, thank you, Assistant Chiefs Watson and Campbell. I appreciate you pinch hitting. You did a fabulous job. You truly did. Chief LeDuc, I'm sure, is watching, so they did a good job. My question is, and what I'd like to see in there as part of this consider, just this is for you to think about when writing these, is what happens When that other agency that signed an agreement with us, one of their employees goes astray. Do we cut that relationship? Suppose it's the city of Phoenix. Do we cut that? Because they're…”

“Vice Mayor McKellen. Thank you, Mayor. I do want to applaud our city's special events staff through the Economic Development Department. They did a great job assisting the farmer's market, and I want to thank my colleagues, the mayor and Swange, for working with... all the three of us working with the farmers market people to make that move, that transition. It was fabulous. For those of you who didn't attend, be there next Saturday. Rave reviews online, in person. Huge success. All right.”

“Thank you, Mayor. It is my distinct pleasure to introduce to you Pastor Tina Gilbreth. And I'm smiling because Tina is a friend of mine. We have been friends for over three decades. Her and her husband have been residents of Scottsdale the last 37 years. Todd, her husband, is a lifelong and third-generation Scottsdalian. Tina has volunteered for decades for Valley Presbyterian Church, where she is the newest associate pastor. And... They raised their four children here in Scottsdale. Her husband coached my children. She taught at Mojave Middle School. Also, I know so much about this family.…”

With these rates, do we have an in-house catering company that either of, so if you use, if I rent the facility on the weekend, must I use the in-house catering company, or can I bring something from the outside, and if I bring something from the outside, do you charge more?”

“Thank you, Mayor. I'd just like to say that this discussion is long overdue. And I know that our police department has used this system uniformly and justly. That being said, I don't think we should wait until the 20th. I think we should look at this on October 6th. I would move that the city, I make a motion to direct the city manager and responsible charter officer to agendize this for a future meeting, and that meeting be October 6th.”

“Vice Mayor McKellen. Thank you, Mayor. Thank you, Tara, for the presentation. I have a question. Going back to one of the slides where it said the two largest water users, you said one was an HOA and one was a resort. Do you have the names of what those are or who those are?”

“Thank you, Mayor. Thank you for the presentation, Allison. My question is about the Thomas Road improvements. After the water, after that's done and then you actually go into the improvements, I just want to remind you that the southeast corner of Thomas and 68th Street has an inaccessible sidewalk do for handicapped people? We brought this up with all the ADA when they did the surveying and when they came out and talked to the public. I'm sure that's part of the scope of the work, but I just want to remind you again publicly that that telephone pole needs to be moved so people in wheelchairs…”

“Thank you, Mayor. I just wanna congratulate the Parks and Recreation Department on a great special event last week. The whole Civic Center was packed for the Recreation Rewind. It was a lot of fun, fun family event. That being said, one of the tents that was out there was Scottsdale Historical Society, and they are reopened for the fall so winter visitors can start just piling into the Historical Society. And then I wanted to mention With the improvements to City Hall parking lot, Farmer's Market will be open October 3rd, and it is going to be fabulous. So excited about the new location.”
