“I liked it last week. We started with Myra.”
“I think we should always start with you. Don't forget your mic, though. Pull your mic down.”
“It's so good to see you both standing there together. It's like the dream team right there. And I found myself getting a little emotional because the work that you have done and the opportunities that you have provided for our community, it's just priceless. So many years of young people and old people and everybody in between coming together just to clean up and care about their community, right? There's not, talking about politics or anything like that. It's just we love our community and we want it to look beautiful and we want our oceans to be safe. So thank you so much for providing our…”
“But I will be thinking of you and there's groups of my students that are gonna be there with bells on. Awesome, thanks Mary.”
“Thank you both for being here. I think the community needs to really understand how much work you have put into this year. So there was some really big transitions, right? Folks that had been working for a very long time who kind of stepped down just a little bit. Maybe some of them stepped all the way down. I mean, we have John in the audience there, right? So I know you still have your little fingers in there every now and then, John. But you really stepped up. And I don't know if you realized... what a lift it was going to be, but boy, did you do a great job. And I got to be the liaison.…”
“It was like the same three notes. It was great. Anyway, there's lots of memories. We all have a lot of memories and we can just make some more this year. So thank you both so much.”
“Before you go, there are other people out here that are very involved in the Fog Fest. We have Marty, who's in charge of all the entertainment. Yay, Marty. And then I saw Robin walk in. And so, Robin, how long have you been doing the parade? Banana years, like 25 years. So thank you. Thank you so much.”
“If I could just comment on it, it's a beautiful program, and it's been running for a few years now, like five years. Yeah, and it's also, it was encouraged by the age-friendly programs task force, and so that was really great. Yeah, it's really wonderful.”
“Are they connected to the meeting minutes?”
“Sure, absolutely. City Manager Piccolotti, thank you for coming in tonight. When I saw you walk in, I'm like, okay, what's going on? So this is wonderful news. Thank you and welcome. Welcome. And it's very obvious the support you have in the room by everyone who's standing back there, and that means a lot to all of us too. So I look forward to getting to know you, and thank you for your service. Congratulations.”
“»» Thank you for asking about the next study. Because that was one of my questions. So thank you, Suzanne, for that. That was confusing to me. »» Yeah. »» Like why wouldn't we wait for data? But I appreciated the explanation. So thank you. »» Okay. »» Now you can do lights. »» Okay. I smear right.”
“Council Member Berry. Thank you for that question because I was going to ask the same questions and I really appreciate it that we're kind of on the same wavelength here because I was very concerned about making it too easy to just pay the fees and I think they can afford these fees so I don't think the fees are too high. I would like to see them higher actually. I guess what I'm concerned about and Planning Director Updegrade said something about how the in-lieu fees will be spent. Can you tell me a little bit more about the structure of the fees and is there a strategy on how to use them in…”
“Yay. But yes, maybe I needed an example. So a simple, clear example. I really appreciate that. Thank you so much.”
“Yeah, I think it would be helpful for us to see it on... on the screen, too. If we could just, like, exactly what decisions we are making, please, because there's been a lot of different discussion tonight. And also, you know, after seeing the Planning Commission's work and then having all of these new options, to me, it was just like, I don't know. Yeah. Yes. It was more than I bargained for.”
“Yeah, because I want to revisit it, because what I heard was, like, usually this happens, or generally this happens, and so to have a little protection would be nice for them. But we don't know what that looks like tonight.”
“Absolutely, and I don't think you're being outvoted. I think we need to, I would like to address it, to see it on a future agenda.”
“Yeah, I would definitely like to see it on a future agenda so we can talk about it more.”
“So, council members? Hi. Hi, I'm Mary. Sir, it's very nice to meet you. I'm really happy that you're here, and happy birthday. What a beautiful way to start your day by painting. You know, I think I should probably do that every morning now. Because I know what it does for my soul, and I see what it has done for yours. So thank you for your contributions, this beautiful art, and for being with us. And I feel emotional, but I'm really happy to meet you. Thank you so much for being here, and happy birthday.”
“Okay, that sounds good. That's very smart. Brilliant.”
“Susanna Crook, Administrative Assistant. Mindy Thien, Recreation Supervisor.”
“Hi, everyone. Thank you so much for all the work that you do. I've been so fortunate over the past seven and a half years to really get to know a lot of you personally and then to really understand the breadth of the work that happens in Park and Rec. I think that started when I was on the Park and Rec Commission and you really get to know how much work your department does. So thank you, all of you, for so many things. And also for supporting our young people with the Youth Advisory Board. It's really important. And with lights, right, they get a chance to understand, you know, work ethic…”
“Yeah. And before you say anything, we really can see you better. Like when you hold up your hands, I can see each and every one of you. So it might seem weird, but it works. Okay.”
“I'm sorry. I don't have the agenda in front of me. I move we skip the last meeting in July and the first meeting in August. Cancellation of July 27th, 2026. Thank you.”
“I'm through the mayor. Yes. I have someone I would like to close the meeting in honor of, unless you had someone.”
“Mm-hmm. I'll go first. Okay. It's been very quiet because most of the meetings, at least that I've been involved with in the last couple of weeks, have been canceled because of summer break. So I really don't have a report out. Okay. First time ever.”
