  1. I have three items to report on. I'm going to do them in reverse chronological order so I can end with the best one. I'll start with the meeting of the board of the Central Marin Sanitation Agency. Two great things happened there. the job descriptions for the employees coming over to CMSA from San Rafael Sanitation District, which is part of our operational consolidation process. So the nuts and bolts are getting turned to make that happen. We also heard in closed session a report on the mediation. I can't share the details, but I personally remain optimistic about the resolution on the…

  2. My comments are those of a former civil grand jury member, and they go to the quality of the presentation in this response and the second response, the next one that we get to. And I'm very impressed that with the the writing and the explanation of very succinctly explaining the city's role and the city's position and bringing it all together in a clear response in both of these. And as a former grand jury, I know that making that connection is the important part of why they put out those reports. So congratulations on two jobs, well done.

  3. My comments are just that we're living the dream here in San Rafael, bringing consolidation to the forefront and doing the hard work that it takes. So I think the response nicely summarizes all of our policies and our strategic plan.

  4. I'm delighted to support this matter on our agenda. It has been a pleasure to watch Paul become our astute finance manager and then evolve into our city manager in a way that really focuses on our strategic objectives in a way that fully encompasses all of the humanity that is involved in those goals. So I am confident in the future with Paul at the helm. I can't wait to approve the contract.

  5. Thank you. Last week I attended the meeting of the Central Marin Sanitation Agency. It was a special meeting. The narrow topic was the budget, a slight budget adjustment, but the more important part was a closed session regarding some anticipated litigation. Well, I can't go into the details. We gave direction to our general counsel and we are hopeful for an amicable resolution of the matter. Next, on Tuesday, I was delighted to substitute for the mayor at the Transportation Authority of Marin. That meeting was very celebratory. The Crossing Guard of the Year was present, was honored, and we…

  6. Just a couple. Of all the stakeholders that you talked about, I haven't heard you mention the property owners. Do you have a formal listserv of them to communicate with them? Because they have a particular set of interests.

  7. And so you're focusing your attention on the broader protection of the entire community, particularly the transit component of it. The numbers that you're putting up there are very large. How realistic do you think it is that a billion dollars or two will be available in a timely way? Because TikTok, we've only got 25 years before it's basically too late.

  8. I have two comments. One is lighthearted but on a short-term basis and the other is longer term. I'll start with the more fun one. The public safety element of King Tides is obvious. It's scheduled. You know right now, Christmas Eve, that that's when it's going to happen. Wouldn't it be great? Sandbags from Santa. But that's an example of practical right now things that we can do that has an educational component because we know when this is going to happen. This is not a surprise. So that's my lighthearted idea, but it's just an example of the type of thinking that our residents and our…

  9. One quick nuts and bolts question. How is this going to unfold for us in a month? So what are we going to see when the mayor calls for offsite comments? What's going to happen?

  13. A couple of big ones. This is great. You're doing a fantastic job of building this. And I know it's hard when you're building because you don't know what's going to be the useful stuff. But what's your sort of strategic goal of when you think you'll have enough of a data set and metrics that you can get useful insights and conclusions from it?

  14. So some of the teams already are getting insights and conclusions, and this is being super useful for them. Okay, now let's talk about the public. I was struck by tonight as members of the public showed up bringing up topics that are in the strategic plan. What's your plan to get them connected to the inquiring mind?
