“So I'd like to- Through the mayor? Okay, I'm also actually working on this with Miami Dade College as well. And what they do is it's the classes are free, but the test to take to find out, identify what level ESOL or what level GED they are at is the charge that is required by the state. The rest of it is actually also funded. It's completely free. And what I wanted to do was instead of them having to go farther away, like to a high school or to a location, they would actually have classes in the community centers. So this is something that I think that I would, I mean, I'd like to propose to…”

It was nine meetings in two months. That's a lot of meetings, and each meeting sometimes lasted till nine or ten or later. We bought lunches, we ate together. I had the privilege of attending some of them and I know how much effort they put into this. I also want to commend my colleagues here that appointed such a good team to be on the Charter Review Board as this is an important issue that we are…”

“about 60 years ago and it hasn't been able to be voted back in. I think this way we kind of safeguard any expenses that we incur from doing our job as volunteers in the city for eight years maximum, I think is a fair thing. But I definitely think that we should codify that, lock it in, and not have I mean, we have seen cities that have given themselves salaries of like $80,000, $100,000, $120,000. And I don't want to see North Miami Beach do that. So that's my take. Thank you.”

“Thank you. I am imagining a scenario that actually happened when commissioners come, check in, and leave right after. There's that. Is there something that we can put in for that? I mean, can we say your attendance counts as a full day of the meeting? I mean, of course, there are people who do get sick, and I understand that. You know, they would just come check in and leave, and then the city business would not get complete, and that's my concern.”
