“Just so I can be clear on this, I don't know who the question is really directed to, but with this change, so the change to public facilities was decided by the consultants, the city staff, requesting input but not necessarily receiving input from the landowners. So this one, number 34, we're looking at, is that something that was made, the decision was made with or without landowner input? but it kind of makes sense with who owns it, and so the city said, let's go ahead and make this designation. Am I understanding that correct?”

“It goes back to the potential added layer of. So there might be an added layer for the landowner. Correct. But it's not going to adversely affect the city. No. Zoning or anything else or what can be done on the property. It's just, it would be a benefit to them according to what they are requesting. And so we just make this modification and everyone's happy. Is that?”

“I think this is a no-win situation regardless of how we look at it because you've got the sort of an opposing viewpoints. A good friend has animals and he's very basic in the animal hiccups and they're eight years old, let's put them down. And his wife is the exact opposite, mortgage the house, sell everything, spend unlimited dollars on the animals. And I think people are the same way. I mean, I think you're going to have one extreme and the other extreme. I think we as a council have to steward the city resources and say, how much are we spending and how is that relative to the rest of our…”

“I did have something. I was trying to be fast like Chuck. On Friday, just as a reminder, there is the focus group, the police officers. It's a tailgate party at the high school, but it's the collaboration between the SROs and the Kennewick Police Department and the Kennewick School District. And there's the football game. It is Kennewick-Camaican? I cannot remember. Who knows? Anyway, there's a tailgate party at Lampson.”

“And the Tri-Tech students put on the meal, and it's fantastic, and it's a fundraiser for the police department that they use to help fund the kids' year-end parties and some other things. So I can't remember the price. We were debating what the price is. That's for next year. But anyway, it's $4 for students and $10 for a family or $15 for a family or something like that. And so go there, take your family, take your kids. It's always fun. The band will be playing. There'll be music and things like that. Thanks.”

“Thank you. I attended the Roads and Transportation meeting. Not a lot to report on that except for the fact that you talk about unintended consequences of doing X, Y, or Z. The big push, not just in the state of Washington, but especially in the state of Washington for electric vehicles, has cost the budget significant millions of dollars. And so that's a big part of the budget shortfall is When you're selling electric vehicles and the number of electric vehicles on the road is increasing, you're not getting gas tax from those vehicles. And so the state's facing a massive budget shortfall in…”

“And then as far as Ubi's comment on the pool, that it's the same pool for her kids. I don't know your exact age, Ubi, but I think it was the same pool when you were a kid. So it's a very old pool. I'm not saying you're very old. It's the pool's older than you. But if you heard, we're getting there. We're getting there. So we have been listening. Yeah, thank you, that's all.”

“This will test if I pass the literacy test. That's right. Whereas regular school attendance is essential to student achievement, well-being, and graduation rates, helping students be proficient readers by third grade, have higher achievement rates in middle school, and higher graduation rates in the high school level. One out of every four, this is surprising, one out of every four students in the Kennewick School District were chronically absent, missing 10% or more of school days for any reason in the 24-25 school year. And the impact of chronic absence hits low-income students and children…”

“Council Member Raderson. Just a reminder that it's National Night Out, just in case you forgot, on Thursday. Thursday. I was just wondering for city manager if we could get an update where we're at as a city on the economic development front. It doesn't have to be tonight. It could be in the future, but just kind of wondering where we're at on that.”
