“Cats that report your hi Vitaly so You said that it took you two and a half years to build the house on the difficult lot Yes, so I'm assuming a lot of the problems had to do with a lot Maybe that yes elevation or the whatever did you find it difficult to work within the city permitting process or the Planning”

“So do you have any suggestions on how we can improve the process? In the process that you were involved in, for example, would you have any suggestions? I mean, did you have any trouble with getting your questions answered in a manner that was acceptable? Did you?”

  3. Play at 10:59
“So we've been trying to reach out to different communities because we're very diverse. And how many people are here that are in the Slavic community? Can you take a guess?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  4. Play at 11:27
“I don't even know if they ask that in the census, to tell you the truth. Anyway, because, well, yeah, they sort of do, because we get Asian population and so on and so forth. But I don't know if they ask about a Slavic population. I think you'd probably be Caucasian. I don't know. They have these groupings. I don't know what they put everybody in. But that would be interesting. I certainly would like to know. We're getting a lot of different people from different countries. It would be interesting to see who we're dealing with because of language barriers and what their needs are. Thank you.”

  5. Play at 25:29
“Well, I think you're right about how do you get people to watch the meetings. And you know what? You're right. We used to have the Cub Scouts, the Boy Scouts. We used to have school groups coming in. That's how you get people to get involved, and you get kids involved. And they come in, and they sing, or they do the flag salute. Maybe we need to talk about that again. But you've been in real estate for a long time, and I know you've been involved with planning of the arts. What do you think it is that brings people to Federal Way that want to come from other areas to live in Federal Way?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  6. Play at 26:27
“Do they come for the bigger house on the bigger lot, or are they more concerned about smaller house that they can afford? I mean, that helps us with our planning idea.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  7. Play at 27:36
“So then who's the real owner of the house? Are they joint owners?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  8. Play at 28:14
“That's interesting so so if we have smaller houses Do you think that will attract more people I I can imagine people are going to be very upset about parking having being a problem Well parking is is always going to be a problem. I believe but do you think townhomes are going to be the wave of the future or detached ad user”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  9. Play at 42:55
“Yeah, I think that's fine. Do we need a third position, position seven?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  10. Play at 43:10
“Well, oh, I see. Did you say, I'm sorry, did Lydia say in for seven? Correct, yeah. Okay, so then the alternate is then open.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  11. Play at 43:56
“I certainly would like to see Anna and Vicki. We didn't hear from Tom Meadors, but I'm assuming Tom is reapplying. Is that correct?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  12. Play at 44:18
“Well, we've heard him many times over the years. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks. We certainly can reappoint Ann and Vicki if we're all agreed to that one. And Tom, I think I've heard from him so many times, but I'd like to hear from somebody else.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  13. Play at 55:31
“well this certainly is getting a little confusing I'm trying to track what everybody is saying so here's my thought what we let me let's talk about the Tom Medhurst position what we have said in the past is if that somebody was unable to attend we would keep that position until that person was able to attend to apply it there was no reason that it needed to be filled immediately that was just in the last couple years that we did say that yes right and so if they're making an issue about the fact that they don't know who Tom Meadors is they haven't met him or whatever don't know anything about…”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  14. Play at 59:10
“No, I'm not talking about anybody. I'm just making a statement.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  15. Play at 1:03:29
“okay and it sounds like the only thing that well we're going to talk a little bit more about matters but the only two we're talking about is the two alternates if i'm hearing that right and then um as i said i'm open on one uh one of the alternates and the other one i think if i'm sounding that maybe there sounds like their agreement on vertali But so maybe, I don't know if we need to go over those two positions.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  16. Play at 1:05:51
“And, Chairman, I just say that, you know, we will interview, it sounds, Medhurst. But that position, you know, that's still a possibility to be open. Also, all of you who have applied... don't go away because you can apply for other positions, you can apply again. You are all wonderful. So thank you all for being here.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  17. Play at 23:53
“So we're looking, thank you very much. I appreciate all of you coming this evening. We're looking at housing for emergency shelter when it's extremely cold. And so can they be referred by an officer, police officer, brought in?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  19. Play at 25:06
“Okay. One other question real quick. Absolutely. There's some portables sitting on the property. Are those going to be moved, or what are they doing there?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  20. Play at 28:11
“These people are just doing their jobs. And I don't falter for that. You're doing wonderful. But we were promised when that Red Lion was sold that that was going to be our temporary shelter for overnight stays for cold weather.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  21. Play at 29:08
“And ask them, too, who they will be serving, people from Seattle or people from here?”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  22. Play at 34:12
“There are taxpayer money that's going into this shelter from our citizens in this city, and they have certain expectations, and I think that we need to be arguing on behalf of our citizens.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  23. Play at 44:28
“Well, thank you, Mayor. Han, you and Priscilla are the only people who could make garbage fun, so thank you very much. Thank you. Hey, one of the popular programs you have is the one where once a year or twice a year you can put things out for large bulk items for... Could you talk a little bit about that? Sure.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  24. Play at 1:01:19
“Thank you, Mayor. Most of the items on the consent agenda today are what we approved at our last FedEx meeting. I have asked that we include a report from Economic Development on a monthly basis or quarterly basis, whatever would be appropriate, because it's Finance, Economic Development, Regional Affairs, and so bringing back in that Economic Development report portion of that committee I think would be really valuable at this time for all of our council to be involved in that. And then our next meeting will be September 22nd, five o'clock in Council Chambers. Thank you.”

    City Council · Aug 11, 2026

  25. Play at 2:20:36
