“Yes, Mr. President. I believe we had some unresolved questions on this item at the work session. So I believe that we're prepared to hear a little bit more about that maybe from the architect as well.”
“Yes, I would like to understand more about the request for the $116,407.31 associated with additional days being included in the extension request. So as I understand it, you're asking for an additional 44 days to complete the work, but also requesting $116,407.31. So help us understand the rationale there.”
“Is it your recommendation that we should approve the request for both the extension of time and for the money?”
“So when you say hoping not to need these days, you mean hoping to recover those days through efficiencies and other aspects of the project? Yes. And it would only be if the contractor goes past the 44 days that that $116,000 comes into place?”
“There was some discussion on Thursday night about the contractor won't collect on those dollars. Tell us a little bit more about that. It was essentially the way I understood it was like a hedge against liquidated damages for going past the date.”
“And it can only be used for that purpose if we pass this?”
“Mr. President, I do have a couple. Regarding the salary and classification survey, I'd really like to see us, in conjunction with that, make sure we are taking a look at how we're using technology in our existing roles to ensure that we're Getting maximum efficiency out of the roles that we already have before we consider adding more Sure, I think that's a great idea and then one more mr. President People may notice that there is a reduction in the amount that we have previously supported the Chamber of Commerce and I think that's it's worth noting that the Chamber of Commerce is important to…”
“Mr. President, I think we said this when this was originally introduced, but I do just want to say again, kudos to the mayor and the staff for making it a priority to streamline our government processes.”

“Mr. President, I do just have a brief comment. While I do understand and appreciate the level of respect and compassion that we have here, we also have neighbors who have been going for extended periods of time having to deal with the situation. While I am in favor of doing a one-time 30-day extension, I do think that it's critically important that this issue get resolved by that date and that we don't continue to have extensions as we go forward because we do have to respect that other people are being impacted by this as well.”
“Yes, Mr. President. More of just a commendation for your leadership in foresight and seeing the importance of this to our community. Being in the top half percent in the nation of fire departments is really something to be proud of. You mentioned the ISO rating. That, as I understand it, impacts all of our individual homes in terms of our insurance ratings and the premiums that our citizens get charged for their their home insurance. What's really remarkable to me about this latest reaccreditation is that it really gives us as a council from a governance perspective independent evidence that…”
“Yes, Mr. President. So I'm not entirely against accepting $30,000. I think it's wonderful that our staff and others have gone out and procured the opportunity for us to have a grant for this item. When I look back at the original decision in the last administration to authorize spending $500,000 for this new facility or replacement facility for what used to be on this park, there are sometimes regrets that you can have when you look back in the rear view mirror and realize that maybe you didn't fully understand or make a great decision. And so I want to raise my hand and say my mistake. I…”
“And also, Mr. President, we do have budget hearings all day tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. for those who might be interested in spending the day with us.”
“Mr. President, I move to approve resolution number 8907-26. Second.”

“So I guess my question or suggestion would be that we go ahead and declare the nuisance, require it to be abated, and then wait to go to the circuit court until the date that the church and the gentleman have committed to get it done, give them an opportunity to do that, and then we're already positioned to be able to take quick action if for some reason that did not occur.”
