“Item 14A and B, that's going to probably take up the majority of the time tonight. Correct. It looks like 14B could possibly be the faster, the quicker of the two. Is it possible to flip those and do B first and then A later?”

“Shortly after being elected to the board here, I met with the manager of the Hilton, and he explained to me what he was hoping to do. I also watched it on the tape, the planning board on the video.”

“Under the authority in planned unit development requests, under Florida statutes, the planning board has the recognized authority to review and recommend approval of planned unit development requests. This authority is established to ensure that the PUD regulations are followed. ROLL OF CITY STAFF IS BASICALLY JUST AS SUPPORTIVE. SO IN THIS CASE, WHEN WE'RE LOOKING AT A SPLIT DECISION, STAFF SAYS ONE THING AND MR. LOMBARDO'S GROUP SAYS ANOTHER OR ACTUALLY THE PLANNING BOARD SAYS ANOTHER, I THINK WE HAVE TO Recognize the Florida statute and stick with the Planning Board's decision.”

“Thanks, Dan. Great explanation. The big takeaway I see here is that most of this or all of those were approved in 2014. That's correct. And now they're coming to us and actually reducing their The request, it's less. You're asking for less right now.”

“Did you have a comment? A comment more than a question. You know, we've heard comments over the years about following process. We heard a speaker tonight complaining about the audit committee. We didn't do that right. Talking about process, Rose Marina said, It started with the growth management committee, Dan Smith, over two years ago. The process starts. Over the two years, they worked together, collaborated, took out all the idiosyncrasies, and they crossed the T's and dotted the I's. At the end of it, growth management was satisfied with the scope and nature of the project. Growth…”

“Hi, Mary. Again, great job tonight. Thank you very much for informing us, keeping us up on what's actually happening here instead of going with the keyboard commandos and the rumors. Growth management obviously approved this. Do you know what the vote was when it got to the planning board?”

“Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. uh it's actually not a i'm going to probably do my question back to dan smith counselor champagne brought up some very good thought-provoking questions uh just just now and uh i have to think that i since i'm so impressed with our planning board and our our city staffers that they probably also thought these questions also when they started debating this and when the planning board comes back with a five to one i'm I'm not a betting person but I would have to guess they they talked in depth about the same questions brought up by counselor champagne so again…”

“Okay, I will. Yes, I was at the neighborhood information at Joey's. So I will admit to that. But for everything else that was said, what I'm accused of, I unequivocally deny the allegations. They are false, misleading, and do not accurately reflect the facts. And that's all I have to say. Very good. Thank you.”

“So there is not going to be any nefarious action, somebody just going out and spending money because it's there. Second of all, a question I've been getting from a lot of friends on the island, if the bond is successful, what does it cost us, the taxpayers, initially if we don't end up using the revenue from the bonds itself. We just do the paperwork. We've got them sitting there. But we don't need it because maybe we have good fortune. What does it cost us as taxpayers? How does this bond work? Is it like a home HELOC, where if we don't use it, we don't pay on it?”

“OK, that's my Starbucks budget for the week. So I think as we look at these numbers, let's get realistic here. We need some kind of a safety net here. And if we're all going to be reasonable about this and we want to keep our island the way it is, I think we need to do what is necessary, even if it's not popular. I wasn't here running for election. I didn't sign anything saying I won't raise taxes. We saw what happened to HW Bush when he said that. Yeah, it ended with one term. And I appreciate the effort or the thought with those who signed it, but we need to evolve. We need to look at this…”
