“I think what my only question to you, so like out of everything that is not covered by permit fees and the work that your team does for specifically development, how much is left of your department budget beyond that? And I know planners aren't part of that, like those kinds of things. Like what are you asking for? That's ultimately compensated through permit fees. And what are you asking for? That's not compensated by some other revenue source.”

“I echo those comments. I think you've done a fantastic job, Michael, under your leadership. You talked about software. I'm kind of with you on that one. Like, it doesn't sound very exciting. So there's an aspect of it that might be monetarily, but there's also an aspect of we have to go and retrain everybody. And it's just now gotten to the point where I'm like, I don't get phone calls every five seconds.
