“and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
“Nope. Going to make a motion to approve the agenda and the minutes as submitted.”
“Yeah, Bryce, so with obesity being one of the biggest causes of acute illnesses as people age and things like that, And I've seen a lot of success stories with GLP-1 right now. Why is the health world not embracing this as, I'm sorry, I see it as a miracle drug for most of the people I've seen that have utilized it. Why are we not spending money on that instead of cooking classes? I mean, it's just to me, let's use something that works. I mean, I have at least a dozen people in my personal realm that have done it, and several are no longer diabetic. They've lost significant weight. They feel…”
“I'm all in, but right now we're in a country that's, horses left the barn so to speak so i mean let's get everybody back on an even keel and then worry about maintenance in my mind but that's just jack the county doesn't cover it but people have that's why it's not being used by but you have people that have their own personal health plans is what i'm saying that don't cover it either it's i'm saying to help that this big 600 million dollar investment could have gone a long way to buy a lot of that stuff you're right that's just I'm just curious why I mean I know pharmaceuticals wrapped up in…”
“Any discussion on this item? We do this every year. Not this grant thing, but we monitor traffic safety statistics every year. Now we've got to do a study on it to figure out where. I could take them to a couple places and show them where we've got problems. Understood.”
“Issues at those intersections so that we can pursue the grant money and funding to to make those improvements Another layer of bureaucracy is all it is Yeah, we study it to death we know where they are ask us I bet you could write a whole letter to it couldn't you Steve and be done with all the state and federal would you take 200,000 Since this is 265. I'll do it for half. You'll do it for 100? There you go. One letter, 100 grand, sold. Sorry about that, Jim. No, it's all right. No more morning meetings for you.”
“I'm going to oppose it just out of pure spite. Yes.”
“I move to authorize Director of Public Works to execute a contract in the amount of $324,307 with BRS Consulting Incorporated in order to complete the renovation on DES Station 400. Second.”
“All right. I move that we conditionally award the construction contract for the Southernsville Wastewater Treatment Plant E&R Improvement Project to Johnston Construction Company in the amount of $5,148,161 contingent upon obtaining sufficient additional funding for the project and receipt of all necessary approvals and authorized director of public works to execute the agreement once the necessary funding submittals and approvals are in place. Second. motion second anymore discussion the shortfalls the million seven hundred thirty nine thousand right. That's the difference between the grant…”
“Thank you, gentlemen. When we put all that long range stuff together, what's that stuff? Hey, Shane.”
“All right, commissioners, you can turn. Sunglasses are optional.”
“I make a motion to kill 4 birds with one stone on this motion. Yes, I moved authorized Department of Parks and Recreation execute fireworks contract with Starfire corporations for the July fireworks celebration be held on Thursday July 1st 2027 with the rain date of Friday July 2nd 2027 in the amount of $50,000. Additionally, I would like to allocate $10,000 for the towns of Queenstown, Southernsville and Centerville for their yearly fireworks.”
“And what's sad is we were one of the only groups that during COVID gave them a show to do around that time. And Thursday's the new Friday.”
“A lot of thought goes into it. Hey, I think a lot of people enjoy the fact that they go visit different towns and have it like a four-day fireworks extravaganza where you go the first through the fourth, you can go see fireworks anywhere. Even up to the fifth, as a matter of fact. I think there was one last year on the fifth.”
“One is the Peach Festival for Southernsville, Queenstown is Labor Day, and Centerville is 4th of July. Okay. But they do it a different night.”
“I MOVE TO EXECUTE THE AUDIT ENGAGEMENT LETTER WITH UHY LLP FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2026. SECOND. WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND.”
“I move to award the Fisher Manor deck renovation contract to RRH Associates LLC of Huntington, Maryland in the amount of three hundred eighteen thousand two hundred fourteen and authorize the executive director of Housing and Family Services to issue the notice of award and to execute execute the contract So you have a motion in a second any discussion how many decks all of them”
“Yep. I move to approve the memorandum of understanding between Chesapeake College, Queen Anne's County, and Dorchester County authorizing Queen Anne's County to contribute up to $1.899.639 toward Dorchester County's share of construction costs for the Queen Anne Tech Center at Chesapeake College.”
“Yes. So just to kind of give background on this. So Dorchester County has their own tech center in county. And unfortunately, the way the MOU, which is one we need to revisit with the college reads, is that all five counties have to be in favor of any project, capital project that takes place there. We were in jeopardy of losing $65 million from the state to build this regional tech center if we could not come up with this $1.899 million. So we as a group decided that it was definitely in the county's best interest to move this project forward. So that's why Queen Anne's County is taking…”
“Okay, Jack, you want to go? Sure. Yeah, just with Steve left, but I wanted to comment. The parks were phenomenal and definitely showed Queen Anne's out on Saturday at the vintage baseball game. They were freshly cut and smelled like baseball, which Martha had brought the Cracker Jacks. I'm back to that, though. I haven't had Cracker Jacks in forever, but anyway. Also attended the Waterman's Crab Feast after the time I spent at the baseball game. Always good to get out and see our watermen and support them and their efforts. They have two a year, so I recommend everybody, if you want good…”
“So Jim, just real quick to dovetail on that, to kind of going down the road, if we don't get some of these at-grade interchange, Improvements made over the next five days traffic's gonna continue to write Is you think there's a way within that speed camera that we're able to write it in that? We could deploy them other places where we if we see problems arise or what?”
“So they still don't have any appetite. I mean, I know they, I don't know that actually there isn't any place in Maryland that does it, but Northern Virginia uses those through lanes only to their, I mean, it is, It's the best idea. And this is a perfect scenario to do it where it's two. You're not getting off until you get to 404. And then let the other one be local. I mean, I don't understand why they don't embrace that. Because I go down to Loudoun County quite a bit now and get on that 267 down there with the straight through lanes. Granted, you only have like two exits on 40 miles. Right.…”
“Because if they were the inside tucked in lanes, you know what I mean, going both ways, then the outside lanes were local traffic only kind of deals that a team would stay constantly clear. Even if they did that now, with the bridges the way they are, I think it would help.”

“Because I remember driving the old Dulles Toll Road before they had that. Good. And it was crazy.”
