  1. Just a quick question. On the rental housing production, that would be typical LIHTC type of deals. Is that right? Do you have any idea what the breakdown is likely to be between 9% and 4% deals?

  2. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. So I will support the curfew. My understanding as to how it works is that under the exceptions, there will be young people in circulation and I don't expect them to be accosted by officers. I think they will get, if you will, the benefit of the doubt as to whether or not they have that reason. And therefore, I expect that this will be invoked in the case where there is some threat of bad behavior. And I trust that. At the same time, if that should turn out not to be the case. We're going to hear about it, right? So I don't think we're sticking our necks out very far. I…

  4. Chief, takeovers are a problem. We asked you to do something about it. You're proposing this. I think our strong inclination should be to back you up. You're the expert in these matters. We are making you responsible for success. So I will certainly want to see us proceed with a curfew. I will say that some of this comes down to how you imagine it's going to work. And I believe that some people are painting a criminalized, and they're painting a really difficult picture. In practice, what I imagine happens here is that young people kind of go about their business. They probably fall under…

  5. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I just want to point out that South Charlotte Partners will be hosting the South Charlotte Transportation Summit again this year. This is quite a significant event. It's attended by 150 to 200 elected officials, government and business leaders. and members of the public. It goes far beyond just South Charlotte. It's an interesting event to take stock of what's going on and what the views are of the business community on transportation. That will take place starting at 7.30 on the 29th of September at the Piper Glen Country Club in my district. Thank you. A.M. Thank you.…

  6. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. So I believe this is a very serious issue. It's part of what I consider to be a troubling breakdown in civil conduct. Noisy cars, road racing, retail theft. So we have to fight back. I get that. I appreciate what CMPD is doing and intend to support what you're doing. I will just point out I have a concern somewhat along the lines of Councilmember Owens in that I would estimate that of the population of Charlotte, about 200,000 are below the age of 18, 17 and under. About 60,000 round numbers are in the 13 to 17 bracket. And how many of those are actually offenders? How…

  10. You asked for a motion to close the hearing, so do we need to vote on that separately? I would move to close the hearing and approve B and C.

  11. Thank you, Mayor. It's interesting to me that this conversation is actually quite different from the one we had in committee. My initial impression was, wow, you know, an opportunity to make a huge investment in safety at no cost to local taxpayers sounds great. there are strings attached in the way they present it. So, Chief, I guess what I would say to you is I still hope that we can get the benefit of an improvement in safety at no cost to local taxpayers, but I think what you're hearing here is that we have our strings, too. And so... The question to you then as you listen to what you're…

  12. And I want to tell you personally that I would be very inclined to back you up on the outcome. We've just heard some things here that do require further thought. Thank you. Yes, sir. Council Member Johnson.
