YOU'RE MOVING, GETTING READY FOR THE NEXT THING. TO THE CITY MANAGER, PERHAPS SOMEONE FROM STAFF COULD SPEAK WITH THE WOMAN WHO JUST CAME UP TO TALK ABOUT HER ISSUE.
All right. Thank you to the mayor. Thank you very much for the presentation. And thank you to everybody who made public comment. And thank you for putting up with my elegant hairdo tonight. A couple things, just going through the list. In the agenda report, it talks about policy CD 7.2, single family design, and encouraging single family additions and new dwellings. that address the preservation and enhancement of neighborhood visual and architectural character through context-sensitive building scale, materials, architectural style and details, and privacy. Could you, Director Dahl or staff,…
THANK YOU. AND HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE A SMALLER PROJECT? I THINK THAT'S A CONCERN THAT A NUMBER OF THE SPEAKERS HAD. WHAT WOULD TRIGGER THAT?
THANK YOU. AND THERE WERE A NUMBER OF LETTERS WE RECEIVED FROM SOME SPEAKERS TONIGHT TALKING ABOUT HOW IT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT IMPACT THE GLAZEN ONE HISTORIC DISTRICT OR ANY IN THE FUTURE. How would we evaluate projects either in Glazenwood that are not historic or adjacent to Glazenwood and other historic districts today and what may or may not change going forward?
SO THAT WOULD SEEM TO ME TO ADDRESS SHORT OF DEVELOPING A WHOLE NEW HISTORIC DESIGN STANDARD THAT WOULD ADDRESS A NUMBER OF THE CONCERNS THAT WE RECEIVED ABOUT HISTORIC DISTRICT PROPERTIES. that is correct i i think that is something that needs to be shared with the community and brought out because if you're already doing the work we want to make sure that people know about it um going on let's see um So in terms of some of the new streamlining, which I'm all for, I mean, the streamlining was actually one of my blue sky objectives. So I am here to say I really am grateful that you're doing…
IS THERE SOMETHING YOU WANTED TO SAY, DIRECTOR DELL?
Great. I would love to have that discussed. And then in terms of parking, one of the comments was made about you had recommendations about tandem parking and other things, but no recommendation tonight about allowing cement on front yards to enable more off-street parking, correct?
I think I've heard from a number of people in North Central where we did make special exception to add more parking in front, that there's really a real desire to pay more attention to the look and feel as well, so that there is more landscaping, there's more rather than just cement. So I'd love to throw that in there for discussion. And I think just to end, since I'm sure other people have questions, I really appreciate the new signage. I think it's a lot more understandable and a lot more graphic, but I think there were a number of discussion or comments made tonight maybe about what else…
So I think the more we can do with that, and I'm sure that the commenters would love to give you their specific suggestions. Thank you.
Let's see. Going down the list, I agree with Deputy Mayor Fernandez about the first, that they shouldn't be allowed to operate on vacant lots. I agree with Council Member Newsom on the second, that the Probably, yes, we would definitely need a conditional use permit, number three. And absolutely yes for number four.
Okay, quickly, speaking of CCAG, since we last met, I was at the monthly meeting. CCAG is now in the process of interviewing for a new executive director because their previous executive director is now the city manager of Pacifica. And that is an ongoing process. The interviews are in a, hopefully a final stage now, and I'll be able to speak a little bit more about it in future. Then we also received a great presentation on Caltrain and the impact leading up to RTM, the Regional Transit Measure and the impact for Caltrain. That was very helpful. And then on Rethink Waste, i'm on the master…
Thank you to the mayor and thank you to the city staff for the presentation. I appreciate your concerns, council member. I think I am in line with the deputy mayor's position. I think you and I have tried to work this out. And I think we need to do even more, or the alternates need to be even more actively involved, even if it is a target of a certain number of meetings. I totally, totally support that. I do think, though, that if, you know, for something like the fire board, it's a It's a large cemetery represents the majority of the budget and what's going on. And it's important for us to…
Thank you to the mayor, thank you to the police department for the presentation, for all the work you've done. Thank you for everyone who came to speak tonight. This is a topic that we're learning as much as we can about and we will continue to evolve. So I have a couple questions that I would love to ask as well. How have we responded to the grand jury findings? The chief mentioned the grand jury report. How have we responded to the findings?
RECOMMENDED SPECIFICALLY TO FLOCK BECAUSE THAT'S OUR CONTRACT WITH UPON RENEWAL TO TO INCORPORATE SOME LANGUAGE WHICH WE WOULD PLAN TO DO SHOULD WE WISH TO RENEW THAT CONTRACT DOWN THE ROAD OKAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH SECONDLY WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM OTHER AGENCIES MISTAKES I HEARD I THINK LIEUTENANT CASAZA MENTIONED THAT MAYBE YOU CAN HELP US WITH SPECIFICS
Okay. Thank you very much. And in the audits, have you found anything that has led you to make changes?
Okay, thank you. I think that's very important, not just doing the audits, but identifying what we have to learn and making changes. And I know going forward, I would certainly appreciate getting periodic updates from the police as to what you're learning in the audits and, you know, what changes are made. And then just to be clear, is there any human being information that is captured either, you know, in the LPRs or, you know, with with Arctic in general and the drones?
Thank you. I think overall, I'm very impressed with what's been done. I'm as impressed with the changes and the tightening of what you're doing, the fewer departments, the fewer agencies, and really the focus on looking at the audits, both... anything within the arctic i i have also seen just the incredible benefit that the community has received from this technology and so i would be very interested in keeping a close eye on what it is going forward and having periodic reporting to the council but i think i've personally seen the benefit and very much want to support its continuance thank you
through the mayor? Sure. I would just add to that that this is going to be a 12 month Bake-off perhaps is not the most elegant term, but that's exactly what it is. And so looking at a contract in six months when we're already going to be looking at it at the end of the period, I think it's just too good of effort. So I would recommend we go forward with this, and then the police department is going to come up with an evaluation and come back to us and let us know.
Thank you very much to the mayor. And I've actually spoken with several of the people who came up tonight. Thomas, you and I spoke earlier. And John, you communicated with me. And unfortunately, we were not able to. I would just like to make the offer that I would be happy to speak with all of you. We can't do it tonight. But I would love, John, you wrote to me. would love to sit down with all of you and talk about this separately because one of the things that I think is important is that while we are bound by certain regulations from state law we are very focused on trying to do everything…
Not quoted here: it may name a member of the public. Hear it at the meeting.
Great. And I would really appreciate it if we were involved in that as well at a certain point. Thank you very much.
Just a couple of quickies. Number one, so excited to see this. This has been such a long time coming. I read that the community outreach meetings weren't that heavily attended, but that the tool generated 50 reports. So that might be something to think about going forward, that these kind of things, people don't want to go to wherever it is to tell you about what their issues are. But if you can find a way to get into their homes with online surveys or tools even more, this is where my problem is. Help me here. I just thought that was very, very promising, and it was good. And the other thing…
And that's great, and I would volunteer, and I'm sure I would not be alone, to take a trip to Washington, D.C. to make this happen, because that's what it took last time. And so the more we could get the two of them together would be fantastic. Absolutely. I see Council Member Newsom nodding his head as well. And yep, that's it.
And to San Mateo Consolidated Fire for the amazing fire operations.
