“I just want to make a statement that I did report it to the city, and the city really doesn't have any means to do anything about it, just as they mentioned. I think we probably need to look at that going forward, just as we need to look at changing some of the state laws, so that when something is brought forward, that the city does have authority to do something with it. I did not sit on it. I did report it.”

“At the last meeting, that same motion came up and it died for lack of a second, but we did approve a study for the traffic patterns. Would they not be related, the traffic patterns and the noise? Two different things. Two completely different studies?”

“I would like an agenda, too, so I'm going to vote no.”

“Something positive about the meeting tonight, it was a great study on the lead levels and the team effort to do that. And it was also interesting to see the things that Jelani Woods' department at the University of Florida does actually right here. And I know that the kappa foundation has been wanting to start a community garden so i'm going to connect them up with the university of florida and maybe then get them started over there with their community garden so that's great to need see they're willing to work in our community in district 5 on september 15th there was the 2026 pomp grant…”

“I want to just say thank you for investing in Pompano, and I totally understand you putting up $300,000 is a large investment in addition to purchasing the property, and us supporting you with the $200,000 grant, with the stipulations, is fine with you. I feel that we need to move forward and encourage the redevelopment of that area, because it is ugly. So thank you for what you're doing. The pictures already show improvement, and I appreciate that.”

“Yes. The other property that you own is the one that's immediately to the south?”

“Yes. Yeah. I'm just excited that you're coming and you're investing in an old town. Yeah, so are we. So much potential in that area, especially with downtown coming in across the street. So thank you for doing that, and I look forward to patronizing new businesses.”

“So a percentage of the rent that they pay for those two years will go towards the down payment?”

“financial responsibility. And in this education of financial responsibility, we're hopeful they will start to save and that savings will be the down payment.”

“I am not familiar with them, so I'd like to know a little bit more about them. Because I guess I just had the vision that rent-to-own would mean that part of the rent would be going towards the down payment over those two years, and at the end of the two years, maybe the down payment was made. That was just my assumption, so my assumption is wrong.”

“I, too, feel that rent to own has strong potential. I was disappointed that it wasn't what I assumed it was, so I'm looking forward to hearing the details of what the plan is. And I was looking for Housing of America to read up on the structure that you were working with, and I can't find it, so I'd like to have that link to read up on that prior, or maybe part of the packet that we all look, we look at between now and the next CRA meeting. But I do think there's some strong potential, and I think this is some, breaking area that we can get into that can help other developments going forward.…”

“Did that come back to you? Before it ever goes out to the general contracting public, that it comes back to us for approval. And that would be definitely stopping point for everything. That's correct. I'll second that motion.”

“It's here to get to my mic. What would be the net if instead of lowering the rate a half a percent, if we lowered it a quarter percent, how much net would that bring in and would it make up for the surtax that we're going to lose?”
