Not quoted here: it may name a member of the public. Hear it at the meeting.
Can I just add one more announcement? This Sunday, the 25th from 1 to 4, both the Vail and Bingham are going to be open. For folks to tour I'm sorry I didn't mention this during my council member comments but the public can come it's not a formal tour but you can see the places where both both historic buildings need to be repaired and talk to volunteers about the repairs that both buildings need. Thanks.
I think it might help to explain what this is, what this process is, that this is something we do. This is sort of the season for this. Can we get more information on what this project is?
So just for clarification, there's a motion on the floor for rebidding. Is that right? Yes. Okay. Thank you.
Can you go over a little bit? This isn't quite, it's not just a grocery store. There's a lot of amenities that they're adding on to the property.
Just for clarification, we're still going to have teams of folks that are experts in power, experts in water. Can you talk about that a little bit?
So in the past, before the Geobond, we couldn't ask them to annex this because we didn't have a way to fix the bridge. Is that right?
And in the past, what were we asking of Kansas City? We were asking them to split the cost, is that right?
I think we need to clarify. There are sort of two fire stations. Fire stations one that we're talking about. Can you clarify which fire station this is?
Thank you, Mayor. Just a couple of things. At the Planning Commission meeting last week, we honored Virginia Ferguson. Virginia has been on the Planning Commission for 12 years. I served with her for six of mine, and she ended her time on the Commission, and we honored her with pizza and a plant, and she has been a loyal volunteer for the City of Independence for many years, so I wish her well and will miss seeing her. And I also, the cleanup the last week was a great event. We had a lot of fun. And I want to thank everybody who came out. And I also want to give a big shout out to…
Can you talk about some of the updates that we've gotten recently? This has gotten a little complicated.
Thank you, Mayor. So to piggyback on that, in order to sign up to volunteer, you have to go to the website, which is independence.gov forward slash IndyCleanup slash dash volunteer. So I think there's a link to the volunteer form on our main web page. Is that right? Yes. So if you can go to the main website and fill out. We definitely need more volunteers. So, two things that I've been involved with since we met last. We were able to attend, several of us were able to attend the ribbon cutting for the Three Trails Behavioral Health Hospital, which is in my district. It was a really great…
Thank you. So one of the biggest differences between independents and the communities around us that are seeing is that they're building new single-family developments. These homes represent new single-family housing at a price point that is attainable to many families, and I think that's an important piece of the housing puzzle. I understand the concerns from neighbors, especially regarding traffic, and those concerns absolutely deserve to be heard. The traffic study did conclude that this development will not be a major contributor to delays during either morning or evening peak traffic…
Thank you, Mayor. I have two quick things. Many of us were present over the weekend to celebrate Hope House. They had their yearly fundraiser. And every year I'm always reminded what a wonderful program they have. They do amazing things for a lot of people in our community. And also what a great legacy it is for Mayor Potts, who I always think about so much when I'm in the presence of the staff at Hope House. So thanks to them for inviting us. And then I have been getting calls in the last couple of weeks for animals outside in the heat. I just want to remind everyone that we do have adequate…
