“And I remember you helped out a lot with the case out on high road. I think it was out toward Walmart a number of years ago. We, we looked a lot and we couldn't figure it out, but.”

“Be brief. I'll try. The only thought that I would give, I agree with Vice Mayor on you guys work out some of the pathways and then bring it to us rather than we helping work out the pathways. Yes, for all those reasons. However, what I would say, the direction from me at least as part of the policy making would be apply our suggestion of get to yes, figure out what are the ways that we could do this, not figure out how much of a problem it is or how burdensome or so on. Figure out, is there a pathway and how do we get there?”

“The other one that I had forgot, I was, oh, that's actually why I had my hand up, was on the PCA.”

“Yeah, before we finally approve, could someone from staff tell me approximately what the budget for law and local law enforcement is and the cost of pensions from the previous, so the total, roughly? I don't need, you know, certainly don't need pennies and don't even need the nearest thousand.”

“$15.5, $15.5 million. And then for the pension?”

“So we're pushing 16 million for the total. And just ballpark off the top of your head, or however, about what percentage is that of the general fund? General, I think is...”

“Roughly 30%, a third of our budget for that. Okay. As those of us here on the dais are aware, I was quite concerned about the police budget and that had a number of proposals for changes that we did not make. I also have a big concern with adding a half million dollars to that budget for park rangers that there is certainly not uniform enthusiasm in the city to do a half million additional expense. So having voted against the police budget, that's a third of our budget, I can't vote for the budget. And that would be why.”
