“I think it's wonderful that you are an example for everybody because it is scary to start your own business and everybody is not in your corner supporting you and you have to shut out the noise and just continue to say I can do this, I can do this and your hard work pays off so today you will inspire someone and so Please be proud of that, not just your accomplishments and girl power.”

“There's not much that I can say with respect to thank you. I can't imagine the atrocities that you see and We always support you. We support you. You do the work that nobody else wants to do. You see things that you can't unsee, which is why I'm a big support of mental health. But thank you for having the courage to do this kind of work. It's particularly hard when you have children of your own as well. So thank you.”

“I want to thank everybody. As you know, I am the longest serving chair for the history of the city of Miami and the first woman. And I can tell you that when I was tapped to be chair, I was terrified. My commission looked a lot different and I had just gotten elected. I wasn't sure how I'm moving forward as a public servant, much less having to be chair of the commission. Um, but my mom says, How will you ever get to learn how to do something if you don't do it? And you can't allow fear to hold you back. And so I jumped in, and it's just instinctual. Be kind. Listen. Everybody's not always…”

“I'm sorry, I have one comment for FR4. I'd like to exempt D5 from this legislation because there are so many historical areas in District 5 that I wouldn't want an unintended consequence of just a blanket legislation for historically designated structures if we could exempt D5 from this legislation, FR1.”

“Madam Mayor, can we come from the PZ items and work our way back to the top?”

“All right, Commissioner King. Okay, so I just want for administration, the city attorney's office, to put on the record where this community benefit of a million dollars will be deposited. Make sure that my neighbors know it will not end up in a general fund. It will park itself in a District 5 account. which could live beyond me, depending on when we get to distributing. And for the record, allocating these funds is predicated on community meetings for the community and the different areas that may be adversely impacted by this development. The community decides, not the District Five…”

“I just wanted to make that clear on the record so that the community understands that this money is specific for this project and the money is parked in a District 5 account, that it will not be sent to general funds or used for any other purpose than what is intended in the covenant. And that was it. I just wanted to get that on the record.”

“I pulled it. I'm also a sponsor of this. I'm a big proponent for our parks and our kids. My concern is the advertisements and the fees that we are going to get for the advertisements. Staff did do, as I requested, all of the fees for each district park will remain in that district for that park. But I do believe that we could do a little better with the advertising fees. It is advertising, and that's a huge source of revenue. So I would like to negotiate a bit more with the fees. I think the administration could do a little better, but I am completely in support of this pilot program bringing…”

“I just want to make sure in passing this you still have an opportunity to negotiate the fees. I don't want to pass it And then the contract is as it is. My colleague here feels the same way. So I want to make sure on the record that we have an opportunity to negotiate the fees that we would get from the advertisement.”

“For me, my issue, I'd like to exempt D5 from this legislation. I will address this legislation separately for the Southeast Overtown Park West CRA area, but as a whole, I'd like to exempt District 5. I have too many historic neighborhoods, the design district and the like that I would not like this blanket legislation to apply to District 5.”
