“So moved, Your Honor. Second the motion, Your Honor.”
“That's right. I can't say it any better than my colleagues have said it. But thank you all for being here. And you really bring good energy here today. And I just want to thank you for that. And enjoy this great opportunity. Thanks.”
“Dang, that's so tall. I know. It's like my grandpa.”
“Thank you and I also want to thank the residents who have come down to speak tonight. It has been a long day and I too want to thank the staff for all of the very hard work and preparation for this day and for what we're going to do together in the future regarding our budget. I'm going to keep it brief because we've had a long day, but I do have an announcement to make. Celebrate the season at the annual Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 24th. This will take place at Kettering Field Sports Complex from 1 to 4. And for more information, you can call 937-333-8400. And I think I will…”
“Dear God, in these trying times, help us to reach those in need. Bless this commission with vision to lead and the ability to make a difference. Amen. Amen.”
“Yeah, I want to thank you also for the presentation and for this opportunity to share our water story with the community. And also, I really do believe this is a great opportunity to kind of help fill this workforce pipeline, especially in the water department, and to expose young people and others to the great opportunities that exist in that organization. So thank you. Appreciate it.”
“Being declared an emergency, I move for the immediate passes of ordinance number 3-2-2-1-1-26. Second the motion, Your Honor.”
“Being declared an emergency, I move for the immediate passage of ordinance number 32215-26. Second.”
“First of all, I just want to thank my colleagues for supporting the resolution on National Infrastructure Bank. I think that's very important. I spent a lot of time last week lobbying for this on Capitol Hill and would love to have your support in pushing this forward through National League of Cities and making this one of their priority resolutions as well. So thank you for that.”
“Northwest Recreation Center is offering two new programs for local youth. A free hands-on cake decorating program begins Thursday, November 5th for ages 13 to 17, with registration now open. A new boxing class will be offered Wednesdays with classes for ages 8 to 12 at 5.15 p.m. and ages 13 to 17 from 6.15 to 7.15 p.m. Registration for October sessions opens September 30th. And for any further information, call 937-333-3322. Thank you, Mayor.”
“Yes, thank you, Commissioner, for those comments. And you're right. We do appreciate the citizens coming down to speak and engaging with us. And it's really important that that be maintained and continued. Also, Commissioner Beckham, thank you for your leadership regarding the graffiti. I mean, that's just a huge issue. And I've seen it in other places. I've seen it... be remediated in other places, and I just think it's really important for you to leave there and continue that, and I will come alongside you whenever needed. I want to just briefly launch Dayton Startup Week. It will take…”
“Yes, thank you for this report. It is helpful to us to kind of understand the process of how this works and I was really just interested. So you said that, I was looking for this sheet now and I can't find it, that there has been an uptick in, I guess, discourtesy or, tell me again what you said.”
“That makes sense to me. So I'm interested in understanding how that is then reported out. How do the troops kind of get informed that, hey, there has been this uptick? What's the process for kind of correcting that? Does that go to the chief, to the professional standards?”
“Thank you, Commissioner Fairchild, and thank you, Mayor, for bringing this forward. This was a good process. We worked through this together, and I think we came up with a really good resolution here that we all want to improve the neighborhoods. You all want to press economic development out into the neighborhoods, and I think this NCA tool is going to go a long way to strengthening that. So I just want to thank you and appreciate it.”
“Thank you to both of my colleagues for addressing some of these issues, especially the traffic issues, which are a problem all over the city. I know that we were able to capture data with regards to the red light and the speed cameras to be able to notice trends in there when we turn them on. You know, the traffic issues go down when we turn them off. They go back up again. So I think there's a way to... be able to capture data and to learn from it and then make the appropriate adjustments in the areas that we need to do so. So I'm glad that we're at least looking at that and I would…”
“Yeah, just wanted to echo what Commissioner Beckham said about the Sustainability Office and appreciate their work in that space.”
“And finally, the third standard says, hey, what's changed to require this?”
