“Thanks, Mayor. I also, like my colleagues, want to thank you for all your contributions, especially culturally to our community. When I look at downtown now on a weekend and I see all the cars cruising and no longer having to fear enforcement, just being part of the community and just families having a great time cruising their cars, the work that you guys put in changed the fabric of this community and made it a more accepting, welcoming, and fun place to live. And so I appreciate it and I'm looking forward to Saturday as well. Thank you. Thank you.”

“Being a mob is probably the least appreciated job out there sometimes, and when you have a health impact like postpartum depression, that kind of stuff, it makes it even harder. And so this, your efforts to bring attention and care to this issue is like, it's critical, and I really appreciate it.”

“Thanks, Mayor. Constantly breathing new life into downtown is a high priority for Modesto, and building new housing downtown is a critical piece of that better future. It creates a community of people who regularly frequent businesses in the downtown core, and it builds vibrant opportunities for both retail and hospitality. Unfortunately, housing projects take years and tens of millions of dollars to make happen. But another option we should explore is creating a van life lot. A van life lot would make downtown Modesto a destination and a friendly temporary base to introduce travelers to our…”

“Thanks, Mayor. Yeah, so it sounds like we're, this is all, this is not really a case of evasion, but kind of a case of, like, yeah like weird law you know so like makes the intent here doesn't appear to be nefarious but it does also outline that like our auditors trying that's something I have real concerns overall about taxation with with our cannabis industry We have more or less, we have dramatically reduced the number of smoke shops in our city and yet our taxes haven't been going up, which is super weird. So I don't know how we landed here, spending an hour of our time over six grand. I…”

“If we change the code to address that issue, we could also change the code to maybe increase the threshold a little bit and save a ton of money.”

“Yeah, I don't have any desires really. I'm just saying it's an odd situation. Thank you.”

“I also want to thank you guys for being here tonight. Hispanic Culture and Hispanic Heritage Month, it's more than just a month to me. I mean, it is a pillar of our community, and it is a foundation of our community. And so I appreciate you guys coming tonight and celebrating it with us.”

“Thanks, Mayor. In today's economy, it's more important than ever to support entrepreneurs and independent business people. Several months ago, the city had to shut down several local vendor fairs that weren't permitted. While the city's working on a permitting solution to give these events the regulation that they need, I'm hopeful that the city can find some solutions soon. A pilot program could bridge the gap while the community waits for answers because lots of people really rely on these events for their livelihood and in tough times like this, we should make that a priority. The lack of…”

“Thanks, Mayor. I want to just echo the sentiments of my other council members here. We just really appreciate you guys being in our community. And frankly, every day you choose to be a part of our community. And that means a lot to me. I know it means a lot to the council that you guys are here. You make an incredible product, a superior product. And you're not afraid to try something new, like the beer stuff. It's cool. It's really cool. I love the innovation. And I'm proud to have you part of our community. And thanks for your contributions. Thank you.”

“I also want to echo the sentiments of Council Member Esquida-Brayton here. It is exciting news that the Toys R Us building is being refurbished and it's going to be the site of another awesome business. And I really just want to thank staff for their dedication to working on this property. It's been a long haul and the public's been pretty upset that it's been vacant for so long. All the work you did on it, from putting together the vacant building ordinance to going out and finding a new business to come in that's going to bring more jobs and more revenue and one less empty building. I just…”
