“So are you in favor or against some of those?”
“It's all right. That's why we're here. It's good to be convinced or not convinced.”
“Others? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Council Member Kern, you comfortable with that approach?”
“It sounds like there's general consensus in favor of having, not making a decision tonight, but getting a little bit more information and perhaps bring it back and then maybe we can have a more fulsome discussion, particularly after the input from some of the boards and commissions themselves. So that's a good suggestion. I think that's a good approach. The terms of the Planning Commission, any more? It looked like some folks wanted shorter terms, comfortable with shorter terms, some wanted longer terms, at least with respect to the Planning Commission, a couple of the six-year terms, but yes.”
“Just a couple of other things that came up that I wanted to just clarify. Council Member Cooperman, you talked a little bit about maybe limiting the flexibility, maybe some of the descriptions limit the flexibility or maybe creativity of some of the boards. And I guess I wanted to ask you to elaborate a little bit on that. What do you mean generally? And is it something that can be addressed generally or is it just a...”
“Does that give a little bit more comfort to you or less?”
“Okay. I think some of this too is the it's the implementation and that you're”
“I think we have kind of got direction to you from council standpoint unless there's anything more. But I wanted to find out from your perspective, City Manager, do you have what you need to take this to the next step?”
“Which is just to be clear for the public and the council, the next step is...”
“And I'll add my part to the chorus that please let Sam know that everybody just really appreciates it. I mean, it just is... a Herculean effort.”
“Well, that, too. That, too. But you're in the room, and you understand the electricity. Yes. All right. Thank you.”
“Thank you very much. That's an important point, too. All right. So I think we're through all items. Do we have a city attorney report?”
“Council members have any identification of future agenda items or want to touch on any upcoming agenda items? Seeing none, do we have a motion to adjourn?”
“Good evening. City Council meeting of the Lewisville City Council.”
“Here. Would you join with me, please, in the Pledge of Allegiance?”
“Thanks. Can I get a motion to approve tonight's agenda?”
“Second. Any discussion? All in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Okay. Do we have any requests for public comment tonight? We do, right? This is part of the meeting where we ask for public comment, if any, from members of the public. If you're interested in making public comment, some are already, please grab a... a card from in the lobby and bring it to the clerk. She will call your name and order and she'd come to the podium and state your name as well as if you're from Louisville and you can speak up to three minutes. You don't have to speak that long if you have If there's somebody you'd like to…”
“Okay. One thing I didn't mention at the outset is that because there are public comments on items not on the agenda and on the consent agenda, we can't respond to them from the dais. But rest assured that we're going to... Speak up, please. Absolutely. Thank you. Yes. Is that better? Okay. recognize that because these items are public comments on items not on the agenda and items on the consent agenda that the council can't respond it may seem like we're indifferent up here we are by no means indifferent and are listening and staff is and I'm gonna follow up so thank you for your comments all…”
“Any discussion? All in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Next is city, excuse me, city managers. No, council informational comments. Does anybody have any comments around meetings they've been to or anything else? Yes. Council Member Fay, Council Member Kern.”
“Okay. Any others? All right. Thanks to both of you. Next is the city manager's report.”
“Thank you. Our first regular item of business is Ordinance Number 1938, Series 2026, an ordinance adopting by reference the 2024 edition of the Model Traffic Code for Colorado. This is on for first reading and to set a public hearing. Tonight we'll be hearing from staff for this ordinance. We're not going to be opening a public hearing or taking public comment tonight. Council will have the opportunity to ask questions of the staff, suggest some amendments for second reading, or instruct staff to return with additional information. May we get a staff report? From the Chief.”
“Thank you, Chief. Are there questions from Council? Yes, Council Member Kerr.”
“Thank you Other questions, yes Thanks One question”
“Is that something you'd like to have provided the next time around, the second reading? Yes. Okay.”
“Any other questions? Yes, Council Member Fay.”
